A Taste Beyond Time is a short, dialogue-driven event quest in Genshin Impact set at Yilong Wharf in Liyue. It sits under the Wondrous Anecdotes section of the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon festival and belongs to the Food Street Must Be Saved! quest series introduced in Version 7.1. Where the quest starts and what it requires
The quest is tracked through the Events Overview menu, under the Wondrous Anecdotes tab for Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon. Its listed description reads, “Just what do ‘authentic’ Wangxiao Cakes taste like? Oddly enough, the answer to this question does not appear to lie in the cakes themselves…” There are no combat or exploration prerequisites, so it can be picked up straight from the event menu.
The two objectives are simple: Take part in the tasting at Yilong Wharf, Liyue, and then Talk to Zibai, who stands close by. Because the whole quest is a festival event, it is only available while Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon is running.
What happens during the tasting
A crowd gathers at Smiley Yanxiao’s stall after hearing that a Fontainian head chef is working with Liyue’s cooks. Escoffier unveils the main attraction, the Celestial Tea Crisp: a Wangxiao Cake transformed into a large pastry that can be sliced and shared at the Moonchase Festival.
Escoffier describes the recipe changes: because traditional Wangxiao Cakes can taste too sweet, he replaced the usual Sweet Flower nectar with a mildly sweet filling flavored with Chenyu Adeptea extract, giving it a fresher, cleaner taste. Xiangling and Smiley Yanxiao carefully made the pastry crusts, retaining the cake’s distinctive Liyue character.
The first samplers, Hyakujitsuhaku Shion and Shiba Murasaki, praise the balance of sweet, fragrant, and refreshing flavors. The Guildmaster stays thoughtful and asks to taste it before passing judgment.
For contrast, Smiley Yanxiao and Xiangling then serve authentic Five-Nut Wangxiao Cakes. Smiley Yanxiao shares childhood memories tied to the traditional flavor, and the Guildmaster recognizes that the older cake carries the nostalgia of past festivals. Even so, the Guildmaster rules the Celestial Tea Crisp a cut above and reflects on how gift-box cakes have become commercialized compared with the warmth of sharing food with family. The Guild funds extra batches so everyone at the tasting can share them.
Afterward, control returns to the open world, and the second objective points to Zibai standing nearby. She samples the pastry and connects modern Wangxiao Cakes to the ancient Fullmoon Cakes people ate together during festivals thousands of years ago, which ties back to the quest’s title and its theme of taste across time.

The Celestial Tea Crisp recipe and its buff
The main takeaway is the recipe itself. Celestial Tea Crisp is a four-star dish that uses Fontaine’s laminated dough technique, folding the dough repeatedly for delicate layers, with a filling of roasted, finely ground Chenyu Adeptea and a golden egg wash. Once learned, it can be cooked at any cooking station.
The dish is an attack-focused food. It increases all party members’ ATK by 224–320 and CRIT Rate by 6–10% for 300 seconds. In Co-Op Mode, the buff only applies to your own characters.

How to confirm the quest is done
The quest is complete once the reward popup appears after talking to Zibai. The Recipe: Celestial Tea Crisp then lands in the Precious Items tab of the inventory bag. Using it teaches the dish, after which Celestial Tea Crisp shows up as a learned four-star recipe in the cooking menu with its ingredient list and party buff visible. If the recipe is not in your bag, the conversation with Zibai has not been finished yet.
