Adopt Me: How to Find All 6 Hidden Forks for the Mysterious Stranger

Complete the Retrieve Hidden Forks quest for 75 Bucks by using your pet as a fork-sniffing radar.

Complete the Retrieve Hidden Forks quest for 75 Bucks by using your pet as a fork-sniffing radar.

The Tux & Shepherd on the Stray Case update dropped a small scavenger hunt into Adopt Me, and it revolves around six bundles of forks scattered across Adoption Island. Track down all of them, hand them over, and you walk away with a quick payout. The catch is that the forks are disguised as ordinary props, and their spots shuffle for every player, so there is no fixed map to memorize.

Quick answer: Talk to the locked door inside the school cafeteria to start the Retrieve Hidden Forks task, equip any pet, then walk the island until your pet points at and reacts to each hidden fork bundle. Collect all six and return to the same door to claim 75 Bucks.

What the Retrieve Hidden Forks quest is

Retrieve Hidden Forks is a repeatable task tied to the Mysterious Stranger, an NPC who speaks to you from behind a locked door in the school. The quest asks you to find six bundles of forks for that stranger. Each bundle looks like a cluster of blue forks wrapped in white paper and tied with a dark blue ribbon, but in the world they are hidden inside or under everyday objects so they do not stand out.

The reward for turning in all six is 75 Bucks. You can run the task again after one in-game day passes, and the door shows a cooldown timer counting down to the next hunt once you finish.

How to start the fork hunt

Head to the school building on Adoption Island and go through to the cafeteria. Inspector Shepherd stands near the entrance and sniffs around, so you can follow him inside.

Walk up to the locked door in the cafeteria, near the clock and blue chairs. Interact with it to open the Retrieve Hidden Forks task board, which reads “Find 6 pieces of cutlery for the Mysterious Stranger to get your reward!” with progress at 0/6.
Equip any pet before you leave. The pet is your tracking tool, and the hunt does not work efficiently without one. Vehicles are fine to travel in, but you need to be outside the buildings for pets to detect forks.

Use your pet to locate each fork

Because the fork positions are randomized, your equipped pet is the reliable way to find them. As you roam the island, the pet reacts when a bundle is near. It turns to face the direction of the nearest fork, then shows emojis as a distance meter. Hearts and sparkles mean you are getting close, and the pet will run toward the spot when you are almost on top of it.

When you reach the object hiding a fork, an “E” prompt appears. Press E, or click the object, to grab the bundle. Your on-screen counter ticks up by one each time, so you can watch it climb from 1/6 toward 6/6.

Note: Keep moving in a loop around the island rather than standing still. The pet only signals once a bundle is within range, so covering ground is what triggers the reactions.

Where forks tend to hide

The exact spots change from player to player, but the bundles consistently show up disguised as the same kinds of props. Sweeping these areas gives your pet the best chance to catch a signal quickly.

Turn in the forks and confirm the reward

Once your task board reads 6/6, go back to the same locked door in the school cafeteria and interact with it. The Mysterious Stranger tells you to leave the forks at the door and hands over 75 Bucks. You will know it worked when your Bucks balance goes up and the task switches to a cooldown message such as “Next hunt in 03:52.”

The stranger also notes that the job is not finished and asks you to come back, which is the game telling you the quest is repeatable. After a full in-game day, the door lets you accept the task again for another 75 Bucks. Right now the payout stays at 75 Bucks each run, with no confirmed bonus for repeating it many times.

If the counter is not moving, the usual reason is that you have no pet equipped or you are searching inside a building where detection does not work. Equip a pet, head back outside, and keep circling the island until each bundle reveals itself.
