Aion 2 brings its MMORPG world to players outside Korea and Taiwan with a server structure split across five regions and two factions. Before you create a character, you lock in a region, then a faction, and finally a specific server. Because each server holds only one faction, that server choice decides who you fight alongside and, through the pairing system, who you fight against.

Quick answer: Aion 2 Global runs five regions — Europe, NA East, NA West, Latin America, and Asia. Each server houses one faction, and every Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server for cross-faction play.

When the global servers open

The free-to-play global launch goes live on October 5 at 13:00 UTC (6:00 AM PDT, 9:00 AM EDT, 2:00 PM BST, 3:00 PM CEST, 10:00 PM Korea/Japan time). A pre-launch maintenance window runs from 05:00 UTC until the servers open at 13:00 UTC. Advanced Access, for Founder’s Pack owners, opened earlier on September 30 at 13:00 UTC and runs straight into the live game.

Maintenance times can shift if extra technical work is needed, so confirm server status on launch day before you try to log in.

How server selection works: Region, Faction, Server

Logging in is a three-step choice made in order. You pick your region first, then whether you play Elyos or Asmodian, then one of the servers available for that faction in that region.

  • Region — Europe, NA East, NA West, Latin America, or Asia. Pick the one closest to you for the lowest latency.
  • Faction — Elyos or Asmodian. Your faction decides which pool of servers you can choose from.
  • Server — one name from the faction list for that region.

A server is restricted to one faction: Elyos players can join Elyos servers only, while Asmodians are limited to Asmodian servers. If you and your friends want to fight on the same side, all of you need the same region, same faction, and same server. Choosing a paired server run by the other faction puts you together only as enemies in cross-faction activities, not in parties.

Advanced Access server list

Advanced Access servers opened on September 30 for Founder’s Pack owners and continue running alongside the launch servers. Characters created here carry into the live game. These servers reuse classic Aion names, with the Siel (Elyos) and Israphel (Asmodian) pair as the flagship in every region.

How server pairing and matchmaking works

Since each faction occupies its own server, an Elyos server is linked to an Asmodian counterpart to ensure an opposing side is available. In cross-faction activities, including the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts, opponents come from that linked server. For instance, Europe’s Nania is linked to Hadala, so Nania’s Elyos players encounter Hadala’s Asmodians.

Pairings are not permanent. NC periodically rematches Elyos and Asmodian servers to keep faction warfare balanced, so the rival server you face now can change later. Outside cross-faction content, your server only ever contains your own faction.

Playing across regions and factions

Region boundaries are firm for instanced content. Players in different regions cannot matchmake together for Dungeons or Raids, even if they picked the same faction. Someone on an Asia server and someone on NA East, both Elyos, will not group for instanced activities.

Within the same region, players of opposite factions can be matched together for Dungeons, Raids, or instanced PvP. Two players in Asia, one Elyos and one Asmodian, can be matched for those activities as long as they share the region.

You make your selections during character creation: the game presents a region first, the faction next, and then the servers available for that combination. Agree on a server with your group before settling on a main character, since no global free-transfer policy has been announced and transfers are expected only after launch has been underway for some time. For now, assume a server move is not readily available, and coordinate the region, faction, and exact server name with your friends before anyone starts leveling.
