Power Shards are Aion 2’s ammunition. While one is switched on, every attack you land deals extra damage and uses up one shard. They are cheap, they stack into the thousands, and they disappear quickly if you leave them running. Knowing when to turn them on matters as much as knowing where to buy them.
Quick answer: Each Power Shard (Bound) costs 10 Kina at any General Goods Merchant. Put one in the Power Shard slot, then press B to switch it on or off.
Power Shard types and damage values
There are three shards. All of them are Common grade, can be used from level 1, and only add damage while they are switched on.
| Shard | Extra damage when active | Extra effect | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power Shard | 5% | None | General PvE |
| Superior Power Shard | 10% | None | Hard PvE, bosses |
| Abyssal Power Shard | 10% | Ignores part of Defense against Characters | PvP |
The Abyssal Power Shard’s Defense piercing only works against other player characters. Against a boss it behaves exactly like a Superior Power Shard, giving the same 10% and nothing else. Each base shard sells back to a vendor for 1 Kina, so there is no profit in selling off spares.
The bound version you get from shops and quests weighs nothing. It cannot be placed in the Legion Warehouse or Account Warehouse, cannot be listed on the Exchange, and cannot be destroyed. It can be used in Substance Morph, which is how you turn basic shards into the stronger ones.

Shards have their own slot at the bottom center of the HUD, separate from your skill bar.

To confirm it is working, watch the number on the slot. It drops during combat when shards are being used and stays the same when they are off.
When to keep Power Shards switched on
Every swing uses a shard, so leaving the toggle on while questing or fighting weak mobs drains your supply for almost no benefit. Turn shards on for fights where the extra damage changes the result, then turn them off afterward.
- In PvE, use these for runs where faster clears or a higher score count: Expeditions, Transcendence, Nightmare, Ascension Trials, and Daily Dungeons.
- Dungeon bosses, tough field bosses, and any fight with a strict damage check.
- PvP with Abyssal shards: the 1v1 Arena of Solitude, the 5v5 Arena of Cooperation, Battlefields, and open-world Abyss fights.
How to get Power Shards
Buying is the fastest way to restock. Shards also show up regularly as rewards, and leftover materials can be converted into more.
Buy from a General Goods Merchant

Merchants are spread across both factions’ zones and the Abyss. These are confirmed stalls:
| Region | General Goods Merchant locations |
|---|---|
| Verteron | Canyon Campsite, Rock Hill Outpost, Alert Observation Post |
| Altgard | Basfelt Waterfall, Graverobber Campsite, Shulak Street Stall |
| Chaotic Lower Reshanta | Latesran Western Root, Latesran Eastern Root |
Southern Sleugh Station and Hill of Purification also have a merchant, and a shard’s item-source list shows every merchant that sells it.
Buy through the Wind Breeze shop tab
The main shop menu has a Wind Breeze Merchants [Consumables] tab that sells Power Shard (Bound) for the same 10 Kina. With Special Quai Membership, which is account-wide and lasts 30 days, you can use Wind Breeze Merchants from anywhere, so there’s no need to walk to a stall between runs.

Quests and the Honed Skills achievements
Several early Episode quests give bound shards: Signs of a Crash Landing, Striving for Coexistence, Transformation Prep, Shattered Sky Island, Mercenary Pursuit, and A New Lead. The Honed Skills achievements, tiers I through V, also give shards and are tied to filling Rare nodes on your Daevanion Board.

Transformation Prep is an Elyos Episode quest assigned by Cecilia in Verteron. You must gather materials for a Kobold disguise and study Krall speech. The quest appears in the Searching for High Priestess Reda chapter, recommends level 19, and rewards 1,000 Power Shard (Bound), 8,600 Kina, Facade Greaves, and 282,600 EXP.
Supply chests, Hidden Cubes, and attendance
Reward containers also contain shards. A Diena Supply Chest gives 100 Power Shard (Bound), 2 Battle Enhance Scroll, 1 Life Serum, 2 Resurrection Spittle, and 1 Odyle Energy. Diena’s Campaign Supply Chest also includes shards. Hidden Cubes found around the world, attendance rewards, and Material Conversion are smaller, occasional sources.

Craft shards in Substance Morph

| Output | Materials | Success |
|---|---|---|
| Power Shard (Bound) x10 | Empyrean Trace: Verteron (Bound) x1, 1,000 Kina | 100% |
| Superior Power Shard (Bound) x10 | Power Shard (Bound) x100, Enhance Stone x10 | 100% |
| Abyssal Power Shard (Bound) x10 | Power Shard (Bound) x150, Enhance Stone x30 | 100% |
For PvE, Superior is the cheaper upgrade. It costs fewer basic shards and a third of the Enhance Stones, and it gives the same 10% as Abyssal. Only craft Abyssal if you need the Defense piercing in PvP.
Abyssal Power Shards from Command Quest Scrolls
You can also get large batches of Abyssal shards without crafting. Enter Abyss mode, travel to Latesran Western Root in Chaotic Lower Reshanta, and buy a quest scroll from the Command Merchant. Each scroll gives a mob-hunting objective in the nearby area, and completing it rewards a bundle of Abyssal Power Shards.
| Command Quest Scroll | Cost |
|---|---|
| Magic | 7,500 |
| Rare | 12,500 |
| Unique | 17,500 |
| Special | 130,000 |
Power Shard Damage Bonus: titles and the Fierce Battle Amulet
Power Shard Damage Bonus is a separate stat that adds to the damage your active shards deal. The more you have, the more each shard is worth. Titles give it in two ways: an Owned Effect works as soon as you have the title, and an Equipped Effect only works while you are wearing it.

| Title | Grade | Bonus | Applies when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Obedient Revenge | Epic | +26 | Equipped |
| Fierce But Cool | Epic | +26 | Equipped |
| Either-or | Epic | +26 | Equipped |
| Hot Potato | Epic | +26 | Equipped |
| Conqueror of Dying Dramata’s Nest | Epic | +24 | Equipped |
| Executioner of Silent Dartan | Rare | +24 | Equipped |
| Illegal Herbalist, Uprooted | — | +9 | Equipped |
| Red Light, Blue Light; Would Still Plant My Apple Tree | — | +7 | Equipped |
| Can I Go to the Bathroom?, Unsealed, This Is Really Starting to Dragon, Archaeologist, Altgard Seal Breaker | Rare | +1 | Owned |
| Burdened with Responsibility, Moving Forward, Even Without Paradise, No Fighting During Cutscenes, Serpent’s Head, All Warfare Is Based on Deception | — | +1 | Owned |
Four Epic titles share the top value of +26, so pick between them based on their other stats. Obedient Revenge and Fierce But Cool add Critical Attack 32. Either-or and Hot Potato add Penetration 210. All four give Critical Hit Resist 10 just for owning them. Conqueror of Dying Dramata’s Nest adds Block Penetration 76 at +24, and Executioner of Silent Dartan is an achievement reward. The +1 Owned titles stack in the background no matter which title you wear.
The Fierce Battle Amulet is a Unique, item level 65 amulet that has Power Shard Damage Bonus as a main stat. It cannot be traded, and you upgrade it with Amulet Enhance Scrolls from the Abyss Shop, up to +10.
| Fierce Battle Amulet | Power Shard Damage Bonus | Penetration |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 40 | 700 |
| +5 enchant | +15 | +150 |
| +10 enchant | +30 | +300 |
Its other main stats are Perfect Chance 5% and PvP Damage Boost 20%, which makes it a natural pairing with Abyssal shards in PvP.
A good routine is to keep a large stack of basic shards bought with Kina, craft Superior shards for bosses once you have spare Enhance Stones, and save Abyssal shards for PvP. Press B before a fight that matters and press it again when the fight ends.
