Soul Binding is the system in Aion 2 that decides the extra substats and skill bonuses sitting on your weapons, armor, and accessories. The game barely explains it, which is a problem, because it is also one of the deepest ways to push your character’s power at the level cap. Every roll is random, so the real skill is knowing which of the three operations to use and when to stop.
Quick answer: Bring up Enhancement using N, go to Soul Binding, and choose Sync or Reset for unwanted rolls; use Bind to raise the stats you want. You’ll need Soul Codex, extra Unique gear, and Kina.
What Soul Binding does to your gear
Soul Binding adds extra bonuses on top of a piece’s normal stats. Some slots roll a flat or percentage stat, and roughly one in five draws instead grants a +1 level to one of your class skills. The catch is that binding an item permanently locks it to your character. Gear that could have been sold or transferred on the Market cannot be traded once bound, so only bind pieces you actually plan to keep.
A piece’s grade at the time you get it determines its starting number of slots. A slot gets one randomly selected stat from its own pool; Bind can raise that stat’s value but cannot replace it.
| Grade | Soul Binding slots |
|---|---|
| Common | 1 |
| Rare | 2 |
| Epic | 3 |
| Unique | 3 to 5 |
| Heroic | 4 to 6 |
Unique and Heroic items can later open one extra slot on top of these counts through the Philosopher’s Stone process. Because unbound Rare and Epic drops can still sell on the Market, check whether a piece is worth keeping before you touch Soul Binding on it.
Keep all gold (Unique) equipment rather than selling or extracting it. Item Extraction gives back only Enhance Stones, which are easy to collect in Ascension Trial, from Nightmare bosses, and in Daily Dungeons. Extra Unique pieces, meanwhile, are what you spend to perform Sync.

Add to Google Preferences →The three Soul Binding operations
You’ll find Sync, Reset, and Bind together in the Soul Binding tab of the Enhancement window. Open the menu or hit N, enter Soul Binding, then choose a piece. Its panel lists the binding stats it currently has along with the Soul Binding Rate. First use Sync or Reset to get the stats you want; after that, spend resources on Bind to improve their values.
Bind: raise the stats you already have
Bind increases the values of the stats already on your gear, moving each one closer to its cap. Every attempt gives a random amount of progress, and the item’s Soul Binding Rate climbs as the numbers improve. Each attempt costs 30,000 Kina and at least one Soul Codex, with more codex required as a stat nears its limit. Once the rate hits 100%, the stats are locked at their maximum and the item disappears from the editing list for good.
Make sure a piece has the rolls your build needs before taking it to 100%. Once it reaches full rate, you cannot alter its stats, so use Sync or Reset to correct them before committing to Bind.
Sync: reroll one chosen stat
Sync changes a single stat you don’t want. Choose its slot and use a sacrifice item of matching grade and type to roll a replacement. If the material meets the grade and item level requirements, the confirmation screen shows a 100% success chance and identifies the gold item as engraving material. A Sync Stone Fragment can take the place of a duplicate item.
The result is still random, so you might land the same stat you just replaced and need several tries. The sacrifice is consumed either way, which is exactly why a stockpile of unwanted Unique drops matters. Do not throw a heavily enchanted or well-rolled piece into Sync just to fix one bad line elsewhere.
A Sync Stone with a lower grade than the target gear gives a 10% success chance. Do not Sync Heroic gear using Unique stones. Check your sacrifice item before confirming, because it is consumed whether the attempt succeeds or fails.
Reset: reroll every stat at once
Reset rerolls all of the item’s stats at once and returns its Soul Binding Rate to its starting value. Reset consumes a Soul Codex: Reset, along with 300,000 Kina. The new stats are random, so you cannot choose or guarantee a particular result. Consider Reset for a piece you plan to keep if it has more than two bad slots; replacing all the stats generally costs less than sacrificing several full Unique items to Sync.
Which stats and skills each slot can roll
A slot draws from a pool set by the equipment position. Around one-fifth of draws hand out a class skill +1 level instead of a stat. Weapons, guards, and rings use the 12 active skills tied to your class and weapon, while armor, earrings, and necklaces use the class’s 10 passives. Since weapons are class-locked, a Templar longsword can roll skills such as Shield Smite, Shield Rush, or Warding Strike.
The remaining draws produce a stat. The percentages below are chances among stat draws, and each table sums to 100%. The rarer the result, the stronger it tends to be, which makes a weapon’s 2% Damage Boost the prize and an 8% HP roll filler.
Weapon stat pool
| Stat | Chance | Stat | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accuracy | 8% | HP | 8% |
| Critical Attack | 8% | MP | 8% |
| Attack | 7% | Multi-hit Chance | 6% |
| Back Attack | 7% | Might | 6% |
| Block | 7% | Precision | 7% |
| Critical Hit | 7% | Combat Speed | 4% |
| Frontal Attack | 7% | Status Effect Chance | 4% |
| Weapon Damage Boost | 4% | Damage Boost | 2% |
Armor stat pool
| Stat | Chance | Stat | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Block | 6% | Accuracy | 5% |
| Critical Damage Defense | 6% | Back Defense | 5% |
| Critical Hit Resist | 6% | Critical Hit | 5% |
| HP | 6% | Defense | 5% |
| MP | 6% | Evasion | 5% |
| Natural HP Regen | 6% | Frontal Defense | 5% |
| Natural MP Regen | 6% | Attack | 4% |
| Constitution | 4% | Dexterity | 4% |
| Willpower | 4% | Status Effect Resist | 3% |
Each armor position also carries stats that no other position offers. Damage Boost comes only from the chest, Critical Damage Boost only from the shoulder, and Combat Speed only from gloves, while Smite is limited to helmet and cape rolls. That means the specific slot matters when you build around one bonus.
Accessory stat pool
| Stat | Chance | Stat | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Natural HP Regen | 10% | Natural MP Regen | 10% |
| Block | 9% | Critical Hit Resist | 9% |
| HP | 9% | MP | 9% |
| Accuracy | 7% | Attack | 7% |
| Critical Hit | 7% | Defense | 7% |
| Evasion | 7% | Flight Power | 5% |
| Intelligence | 4% |
How the Soul Binding Rate climbs
Each Bind pushes a stat toward its cap, but higher results occur less often. For instance, a Unique dagger with Critical Attack 48 and a cap of 51 has a 42.33% chance to reach 49; the odds are 32.60% for 50 and 25.07% for 51.
For stats with a broad range, the chances can become extremely small. On that same dagger, HP may span 226–265, yet reaching 265 with one bind has just a 0.65% chance. A successful attempt fills the stat’s yellow bar and increases the blue Soul Binding Rate. Keep spending codex on gear with your strongest rolls until the rate reaches 100%; then its stats are fixed at their maximum.
Soul Binding materials and where to farm them
The system eats resources, so know the sources before you start grinding. These are all bound, Special grade, usable from level 1, and untradeable.
| Material | Used for | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Codex | Bind | Dungeon drops, Expeditions, Dimensional Invasion, Shugo Festival, Nightmare shop, Hidden Cubes, Trade Shop |
| Soul Codex: Reset | Reset | Nightmare shop, quest and achievement rewards, seasonal trade shops, Hidden Cubes, Monolith |
| Sync Stone Fragment | Sync | Sanctuary, dungeon morphs, or any spare Unique piece |
| Philosopher’s Stone | Extra slot | Conquest dungeons |
Soul Codex (Bound) costs 400 currency at the Nightmare Trade Shop or 50 Shugo Coin in the coin shop. It also drops from party dungeons such as Vakron Sky Island, field events, raids, the battle pass, and attendance. Nine field events award it: Defend Shugo Merchants; then Goldrin’s Treasure; then Hidden Lugi; then Jump Jump; then Mysterious Track; then Not This Tile?; then Odyle Flight Frenzy; then Up! Up! Up!; and finally Wraith Evasion.
Soul Codex: Reset (Bound) costs 9,000 in the Nightmare Trade Shop with a cap of three per character each week, or 60,000 in the seasonal Growth shop with a cap of five. It stacks to 1,000 and also comes from quests, achievements, Hidden Cubes, Monolith, and the battle pass.
Unlocking the extra slot with Philosopher’s Stones
Unique and Heroic gear can open one additional stat slot, sometimes called Soul Fuse, once every current slot is maxed and the item shows a 100% Soul Binding Rate. The unlock costs 2 Philosopher’s Stones plus 1,000,000 Kina, and it is guaranteed with no RNG.
Two variants exist, and the item itself decides which you need. About four in five pieces call for Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation, and the rest want Philosopher’s Stone: Power. Grade, tier, and item level will not tell you, so two Unique boots at the same level can demand different stones. Read the item description before you farm.
What carries over when you upgrade gear
Unlike manastones and theostones, Soul Binding stats follow the gear when you perform a Transfer. Every base stat retains the exact value you bound it to, so moving enhancements to a newer piece won’t wipe out that investment. Binding equipment you expect to upgrade later is therefore worthwhile.
| On a Transfer | Result |
|---|---|
| Base stats at their bound values | Carry over |
| Philosopher’s Stone extra slot | Does not transfer |
The extra slot is the one exception. Every new piece rolls that slot fresh, so you have to spend the stones again after a transfer. Everything else survives.

When to invest and how to store the fodder
Leave Soul Binding alone while you level. Story gear keeps replacing your equipment until the level 45 cap, so codex and Kina spent before then is wasted. Start serious optimization at 45, land the stats your build needs with Sync or Reset, then push only the keepers toward 100% with Bind.
A stockpile of Unique drops can quickly use up your Cube space. When that happens, spend Kina to add room to Character Storage and Server Storage. Go to Character Storage, select the expansion option, and accept the cost shown in the prompt.
Quest rewards that give you gold gear directly, including the Spiritforged Longsword, cannot go into Server Storage. Keep those items in Character Storage or in your inventory.
The change is complete when the stat bar is full and the Soul Binding Rate shows 100%; the item then vanishes from the editing list, with its stats locked. Before reaching that point, store every spare Unique, use Sync or Reset to get the right rolls, and Bind only gear that already suits your build.
