Iris Petals: sources and the 99-petal cost
Iris Petals are the pink flower currency the whole Legendary Journey runs on, and the new source added in 1.1 is weekly-limited. That single detail decides how your next two months go. You cannot binge the event in the final week, because the supply is metered out on a weekly schedule rather than sitting in the open world waiting for you.
Petals come from quests, Alpha challenges, and area completion, which means ordinary exploration progress feeds directly into the Legendary track. The Legendary Aniipod: Irisalis costs 99 Iris Petals, and every petal you spend after that goes toward the second craft in the chain.
Trail of Butterfly Shadows is still live and hands out Irisalis Petals for exploration activities across the Breezy Plains, but it closes on September 25. Clear its milestones before the new journey opens.
Irisalis’ Rift Space fight in Breezy Plains
Crafting the Aniipod is what opens Irisalis’ Rift Space, reached through the Vein Rift portal on the Breezy Plains map. That is where you confront it. Irisalis is a flying Aniimo whose kit leans on the Bloom Cluster passive, and its clone beams interact with Whirlwind Blossom Rain, so the fight punishes you for standing still in the wrong patch of the arena.
Inside the Rift Space you also forge your Twine to obtain Blessing Gifts. You will know the chain has worked when Irisalis joins you and its exclusive Transmog ability appears — that option is locked until you actually befriend it, no matter how many petals you have spent.

The second craft is the one collectors care about. After the Irisalis Aniipod is done, you keep spending Iris Petals to make the Legendary Aniipod: Windchaser’s Departure, and the Aniimo you catch with it arrives with a fixed set of properties rather than a roll.
