Getting knocked out in Aniimo is not the setback it is in most role-playing games. There is no lost loot, no drained currency, and no wiped experience. Instead, your character passes out, you pick a checkpoint to return to, and any fallen creatures wait to be revived. The only thing you actually have to do afterward is get your team back on its feet.

Quick answer: Dying in Aniimo costs no progress. You respawn at the nearest checkpoint and revive fainted Aniimo using items, the Revive talent, checkpoints, or Healer NPCs.

What triggers a knockout in Aniimo

When your defense reaches zero from taking more than five hits within a short span, your character passes out. The game then asks you to revive at the nearest checkpoint you have activated, placing you back in play there.

The revive screen is more than a respawn button. It lists the recommended level for the area you are in and the Aniimo elements that work well against the enemies nearby. If you keep going down in the same spot, those two details are the fastest way to figure out what to change before your next run.

What happens to a fainted Aniimo

An Aniimo faints when it loses all of its health, whether that happens in combat or while you are exploring. A fainted Aniimo is completely locked out. You cannot send it into a fight or use it to help traverse the world until you revive it.

The party list on the screen’s right side shows the condition immediately: a fainted Aniimo has a black and white portrait. This status is temporary and has no inherent cost. The creature remains in your collection, retains its level, and keeps all progress.

How to revive fainted Aniimo

There are four ways to bring a knocked-out companion back. Which one you reach for depends on where you are and what you have on hand.

MethodHow it works
Revive itemsConsumables that instantly revive a fainted Aniimo; found in chests, quests, and from vendors.
Revive talentActive talent unlocked at Wayfarer I; revives any Aniimo in combat.
CheckpointsWalking up to an activated checkpoint restores all fainted Aniimo automatically.
Healer NPCsHealers in settlements and outposts revive your whole party for free or a small fee.

The Revive talent is the one worth planning around. It becomes available after you promote to Wayfarer I and runs on a 180-second cooldown, letting you resurrect any Aniimo in your roster mid-fight. If you spend a lot of time on bosses, this is the most dependable option because it does not require you to leave the battle.

You will know the revive worked when the creature’s portrait returns to full color in the party list and its skills and attacks are usable again. A checkpoint clears every fainted Aniimo at once, which makes it the cleanest reset after a rough stretch.

Keep at least one revive item in your bag before heading into a tough fight, and check the Revive talent’s cooldown before you commit.

What you keep when you die

If you are used to harsh death penalties, Aniimo will feel forgiving. Passing out takes nothing from you:

  • No items are removed from your inventory.
  • No Credits, Glimmer, or other currencies are lost.
  • No EXP or levels are drained.
  • Caught Aniimo and collection progress stay intact.
  • Story and side-quest progress carries over.

The only real consequence is having to revive your fainted Aniimo and start again from a checkpoint. That turns death into a chance to adjust rather than a punishment.

How to avoid passing out again

Most repeat knockouts come from level or element mismatches. A few habits keep your team standing:

  • Match the area’s recommended level; underleveled runs mean enemies hit harder.
  • Use the Aniimo elements the revive screen flags as effective against local foes.
  • Have either a healer or an Aniimo that restores HP among your party members.
  • Dodge often to cut incoming damage and break hit chains.
  • Confirm you have revive items and the Revive talent ready before a hard fight.
  • If an Aniimo faints, pull back and revive rather than pushing on shorthanded.

Because nothing is on the line, the smartest move after a wipe is to read the revive screen, tweak your lineup, and jump back in. Treat each knockout as feedback about the zone you are in, and tougher regions of Idyll become far less intimidating.
