Grade I Wayfarer, also called Junior Wayfarer, is the first Polaris Institute title that drops the “Student” tag. It sits directly after Student I, II, and III, and reaching it lifts both your character and Animo level caps and opens the free Prismana Pact pick. Getting there is a gated sequence, not a single button, so the order you do things in matters.
Quick answer: Hit character level 40, complete four of the seven Chapter 3 Elite Training objectives, run the “Promotion: Stardust’s Blessing” quest, defeat Senior Loulla in Berylline Vale, then pass Dr. Lewis’s three-question theory quiz back at the Outpost.
Requirements before the promotion unlocks
Two gates control whether the promotion quest even appears. You need to be character level 40, which means you must already hold the Student III title and be sitting at its cap. You also need to have cleared at least four of the seven objectives inside Chapter 3 of Elite Training. Once both conditions are met, the Title Promotion Growth Story quest becomes available.
You only pick four, so choose the ones that overlap with content you are already doing rather than chasing all seven.

Nurture is tied to regional Branch progress, so it needs the Breezy Plains Branch and Collection Badge unlocked first. If you have not touched the Branch yet, it is the slowest of the seven to set up.
Fastest ways to reach level 40
Character progress runs on Safaris EXP, which raises your level, unlocks pathfinder skills, and pushes the Animo level cap. The quickest chunks come from claiming Bronze and Silver regional Collection Badges straight from the area screens on the world map. These reward large blocks of EXP, and it is easy to leave them unclaimed after moving to a new region.
The Growth menu is the other big source. Open Elite Training and work the Core Courses along with the Path tabs, since each cleared milestone pays out EXP. Do not skip earlier chapters, because you stop getting notifications for tasks you already finished and have to go back and claim them by hand.
Short by one or two levels? Use dependable open-world options to catch up. A first Sanctum completion and a first Alpha defeat both provide meaningful EXP, while daily activities may contribute a few thousand more each day. Take on open-world Alphas like the Level 35 Leafy, or investigate advanced areas such as Berylline Vale at levels 41 to 48; either approach narrows the gap quickly.

Beat Loulla in the Elite Pathfinder Challenge
The duel is the Berylline Vale Assessment. You have a five-minute limit and must defeat all three of Loulla’s Level 40 Dark-type Animo. Dark types are weak to Light, so bringing Helion or Lunara gives you a clear edge, and a Wind Animo helps against her Grass-leaning member.
Play into the type advantage, counter her attacks, and push enemies into Break status to open big damage windows. Once all three of her Animo are down, the assessment is passed and Loulla hands you Star Dust x10 along with instructions to take the written test.

Return via fast travel to the Breezy Plains Outpost, then talk to Dr. Lewis to launch the theory test of three questions. Every answer must be correct.

Confirming the promotion and what it unlocks
Passing the quiz shows the “I Wayfarer – Assessment Passed” confirmation and awards the Grade I Wayfarer title. That message plus the new title on your profile is how you know it worked. The promotion raises your Character Level Cap from 40 to 45 and your Animo Level Cap from 40 to 45 at the same time.
Alongside the caps, you gain fresh class talents to spend Report Cards on and can start using Star Dust in the Animo Training menu to awaken your Animo’s Capability stats. Reaching this title also opens the Prismana Pact, letting you claim one free Prismana Animo of your choice.
From here the next title gate is “Ancient Sacred Fragrance,” which requires level 45 to advance to Wayfarer II, so keep claiming badge and Elite Training EXP as you push into the new cap.
