Thunderstorm Thornblade is the weather-locked version of Thornblade, and it behaves nothing like a normal field spawn. It keeps Thornblade’s sword-and-thorns silhouette but swaps the palette for something much darker, adds Lightning alongside Grass, and shows up in exactly one place under exactly one set of conditions.
Quick answer: Wait for rainy or thunderstorm weather in the Sea of Flowers, then catch the single Thunderstorm Thornblade at the ruined building marked by a blue Aniimo icon. It does not respawn.
Thunderstorm Thornblade spawn conditions
Every condition below has to be true at once. Miss one and the spawn point stays empty, no matter how many times you fast travel back.
- Region: Sea of Flowers, in the Breezy Plains, the same habitat as the standard Thornblade.
- Weather: rainy or thunderstorm conditions only. Clear weather removes it entirely.
- Spawn count: one spawn point, and only one Thunderstorm Thornblade can exist at a time.
- Level band: the Sea of Flowers Aniimo sit around Lv 19–28, so bring a team that matches the region.
Once it is defeated or captured, it does not come back. If you knock it out without securing a catch, that spawn is gone rather than waiting for you to return.
Where to find it in the Sea of Flowers
Open the map and check the weather tab first. It tells you when rain or a thunderstorm is rolling through, which is the only window where the hunt is possible. When the forecast lines up, look for the blue Aniimo head icon sitting over the Sea of Flowers; that marker is the spawn flag for this variant.
The marker leads to a ruined building surrounded by the purple flora that covers this part of the map. Approach through the tall growth rather than sprinting down the open path, because you want to arrive with the Aniimo still unaware of you. Climbing onto the roof above the doorway gives you a clean line on it before it moves.
How to catch Thunderstorm Thornblade
Do not open with a heavy ultimate. Overkilling a one-time spawn removes it from the world permanently.
How to confirm the catch worked
A successful capture drops Pale Thorn, an item whose description reads as proof of victory over the Thunderstorm Thornblade. Seeing that item land in your inventory is the cleanest confirmation that the capture registered rather than the Aniimo simply being defeated.
Beyond the drop, check your Aniilog. Thunderstorm Form should now be filled in on Thornblade’s entry alongside the basic form, and the caught Aniimo appears in your roster ready to be assigned to a team or sent to Homeland work.
What Thunderstorm Thornblade brings in combat
It is a Nova stage DPS with Grass and Lightning elements, and its trait is Sword Dance. Each skill you use grants one stack, up to four, lasting 15 seconds, and every basic attack spends a stack to deal 180 percent extra damage. The loop is simple: cast skills, bank stacks, then cash them out with normal attacks.

Both defensive stances cut incoming damage by 20 percent and hit back when you are struck. Timing Thorny Defense so it activates exactly as an attack lands raises Crit Rate by 30 percent for 15 seconds, while Aqua Defense applies Lockdown to the attacker for 12 seconds under the same timing. This Aniimo has no mobility skill, so the two dash attacks are how it closes distance.
Thunderstorm Form vs the other Thornblade forms
Thornblade has four recorded forms, and only the basic one is tied to evolution.
- Basic Form, the red-and-green Grass DPS found in the Sea of Flowers.
- Thunderstorm Form, the dark-hued Grass and Lightning variant covered here.
- Prismana Form.
- Towerwood Form.
Evolution will not get you the storm version. Budsquire reaches Level 27 and can branch into either Thornblade or Melloblum, with the Thornblade path requiring you to defeat a Thornblade while Budsquire is the only Aniimo in your roster, plus Sprout Stone x3. That line produces the basic form only.
