Eggs are a second way to grow your Aniimo roster alongside catching creatures in the wild. You collect them out in Idyll or earn them from activities, then incubate them on a real-time timer at a machine called the Hatchinator. When the timer ends, the egg hatches into an Aniimo you add to your party.
Quick answer: Place an egg in a free Hatchinator slot at your Outpost or Homeland to start a real-time timer, then return once it shows a ready marker to pet the egg and press Claim.
Hatch an egg at the Hatchinator
The Hatchinator is a large egg-shaped incubator. You will find one at the Outpost after joining the Polaris Institute, and another in your Homeland. Both accept eggs, though a few special eggs are tied to the Outpost only, so check an egg’s use text before you carry it somewhere else.
To claim the creature, select the ready slot, pick an Aniipod to twine with, confirm, then pet the egg when prompted. The reveal shows the Aniimo’s role, element, and Potential quality. Press Claim to add it to your roster.
A finished timer is not the same as a claimed Aniimo. If an egg is still sitting in the machine, the countdown is over but you have not completed the reveal. Select the slot marked with an exclamation point, confirm an Aniipod, pet the egg, and press Claim.
How long eggs take to hatch
Incubation length depends on egg rarity. The rarer the egg, the longer the wait, and the exact remaining time shows in the bottom-right of the Hatchinator screen. If you have several eggs, check that timer before you decide which to incubate first.

You can shorten the wait. Caress the egg to cut the timer, subject to a daily limit, and friends can caress yours too. Speed-up items also apply. From Friday to Sunday a weekend bonus halves hatch time.
Which Aniipod to use for a hatch
The hatch flow asks you to select an Aniipod, but the guarantees attached to the best pods apply only to catching wild Aniimo, not to hatching. The Aniipod Ultra guarantees a catch with at least Elite Potential, and the Sparkling Cube guarantees a Sparkling catch with Perfect Potential. Neither bonus carries over to an egg.
Because of that, use an ordinary Aniipod for hatches and save the Ultra and Sparkling Cube for creatures you find in the field. Spending them on an egg wastes their catch-only guarantee.
Where to find eggs in Idyll
Most eggs sit in Nests scattered across the map. Watch for environmental cues rather than only the nests themselves: sparkling lights, tall rock pillars, gnarled trees, and traversal puzzles such as jumping flowers, burning hedges, and burrows often mark a nearby egg. Many nests are placed in high or isolated spots.
Some nests cannot be reached the first time you spot them. Certain locations require you to Twine with a specific Aniimo and use its traversal ability, such as a Water Aniimo to cross a deep lake. If there is no obvious path, note the spot and return once you have a creature that can get you there.
Beyond exploration, eggs arrive from several systems:
- Operation: Egg Heist, a level 50 PvPvE activity better suited to advanced players.
- Stella showers, when wild eggs descend at night.
- Custom and Mystery Egg Boxes tuned to a combat role: Break, DPS, Heal, Regen, or Support.
- Polaris Institute departure gifts, which guarantee Perfect Potential or a Sparkling Aniimo.
- RV dispatches, rotating events, and a rare Dreamy Egg that can appear as a breeding mutation.
Special event eggs deliver the rarest outcomes. The Egg Gifted from Flowers, for example, is given in return for offering ten colors of the world to the Vein.
Activate every Bloom you pass. Blooms act as fast travel points and reveal the map, which makes it far easier to keep the Hatchinator running while you keep exploring.
What egg labels guarantee
Before an egg hatches it shows labels that hint at what is coming. The first is its element, using flavor names such as Frost (Ice), Gale (Wind), Lumin (Light), Rocky (Earth), Shadow (Dark), Stream (Water), Thunder (Lightning), and Verdant (Grass). The second is a quality tier that describes how special the hatch will be.
Not every egg is a gamble. Many named eggs lock in a specific result, so chasing the right egg beats hoping. Named eggs are also often species-locked. An Alpha Bolty Egg is guaranteed to hatch a Bolty with the Alpha mutation, and an Elite Fentuft Egg hatches an Elite Fentuft.
Certain quality tiers guarantee an outcome outright, while others only raise a chance. Reading these labels tells you what a specific egg can promise:

Broader eggs like the Blossom Egg only confirm that a mysterious life stirs within, so treat a biome name as a route clue rather than a promised species. Your Homeland also keeps an Egg Book that records each new egg type you collect and hands out rewards as you fill it in, which makes chasing named eggs worthwhile even when you already know what hatches.
