Anime Apocalypse rewards two choices above everything else: the ability you bring into a fight and the trait you roll onto it. Abilities define your damage profile and clear speed, while traits stack flat stat boosts that decide how often you can use those skills and how long you survive. The current meta favors fast cooldowns, wide area damage, and Mastery 100 V skills, which is why a handful of picks dominate Raid, Survival, and Infinite modes.
Quick answer: Roll Saiyan, Coyote, or Pride for abilities and pair them with the Flash or Reaper trait for the strongest all-purpose build in May 2026.

Anime Apocalypse ability tier list
Rankings assume Mastery 100, since the V skill unlocked at that level reshapes most kits. Early-game strength is noted where it matters, because rarity alone does not predict performance.
| Tier | Abilities |
|---|---|
| S | Saiyan, Shadow Monarch, Pride, Coyote, Atomic |
| A | King of Curses, Destructive Fists, Fire Fighter, Head of Hei |
| B | Nen Prodigy, Sosuke |
| C | Zorro |
S-tier abilities explained
Saiyan (Supreme) blends melee and ranged pressure with Kamehameha, Ki Blast, Fist Barrage, and Spirit Bomb. The Ultra Instinct passive grants a second life on death, which keeps it dependable in Raids, Infinite, and Survival. Spirit Bomb erases dense waves and chunks bosses in a single cast.
Shadow Monarch (Mythic) rules Infinite mode once Mastery climbs. Assassin Dash and Multilation Cut handle mobility, while Arise summons shadow allies that keep dealing damage between your inputs. The Awakening Skill stacks multi-hit combos that delete elites quickly.
Pride (Mythic) stays strong from Mastery 0 to 100 with no weak phase. Cruel Sun applies wide burn damage over time, Sun Glide adds mobility plus contact damage, and Final Prominence works as a finisher against high-HP targets.
Coyote (Mythic) scales harder than almost any other ability after the V skill unlocks at Mastery 100. Cero Metralleta delivers sustained ranged burst that clears entire raid screens from a safe distance, and Cero Breakdance handles 360-degree mob waves.
Atomic (Exclusive) brings the highest single-button burst in the game with the I Am Atomic awakening. Sword Barrage covers AoE clears, and Shadow Slash plus Sword TP keep you mobile in close-quarters fights.

A-tier abilities explained
King of Curses (Legendary) centers on Malevolent Shrine, one of the strongest domain expansions in the game for area destruction. Cleave chains heavy slashes, and Flame Arrow scatters grouped enemies. Long cooldowns hold it back from S tier in fast raids.
Destructive Fists (Exclusive) trades range for raw close-combat damage. Explosive Fury combos hit hard, Compass Needle activates fast for a quick burst window, and Dash keeps pressure on. It struggles when bosses force ranged play.
Fire Fighter (Exclusive) applies steady burn damage through Flame Dance and gains strong AoE mobility from Adolla Burst. Damage scaling falls just short of Mythic options, which is why it sits one tier below.
Head of Hei (Exclusive) excels in Raid setups with Mirror Dance afterimages and a fast-hit Awakening Skill. Short attack range punishes you against ranged bosses but rewards aggressive playstyles.

B and C tier abilities
Nen Prodigy (Epic) is the easiest early ability to roll. The Rock, Paper, Scissors moveset covers melee and ranged options, and the Transformation awakening adds AoE plus survivability. It falls behind once you push into late content.
Sosuke (Legendary) still carries beginners through Infinite thanks to Susanoo Slash, which can outdamage Mythic options at Mastery 0. Kirin stuns groups, and Indra's Arrow finishes them. Use it to grind toward stronger picks.
Zorro (Rare) sits at the bottom. Dragon Twister offers light crowd control, but the moveset is stat-starved and gets outpaced almost immediately.

Anime Apocalypse trait tier list
Traits attach to a specific ability and provide flat stat lines. If you swap the ability, the trait is destroyed, so reroll only when the ability is one you plan to keep.
| Tier | Traits |
|---|---|
| S | Reaper, Flash |
| A | Hunter, Zombie |
| B | Fortune, Swift, Timer |
| C | Power |
S-tier trait stat lines
| Trait | Rarity | Stats |
|---|---|---|
| Reaper | Mythic | +35% DMG, +10% ATK Speed, +3 Walkspeed, +10% CD Reduction, +7% Coins, +7% EXP, +5% Lifesteal, +40 HP |
| Flash | Mythic | +20% DMG, +25% ATK Speed, +7 Walkspeed, +20% CD Reduction, +7% Coins, +7% EXP, +5% Lifesteal, +40 HP |
Reaper is the highest raw damage trait. The +35% damage multiplier paired with attack speed, cooldown reduction, lifesteal, and bonus HP makes it the cleanest pairing for Shadow Monarch, King of Curses, Atomic, and Saiyan.
Flash wins on action economy. The +25% attack speed and +20% cooldown reduction let you cycle skills almost twice as often, which is decisive on Fire Fighter, Head of Hei, and Coyote where uptime matters more than per-hit damage.

A and B tier trait stat lines
| Trait | Rarity | Stats |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter | Legendary | +10% DMG, +5% ATK Speed, +1 Walkspeed, +5% CD Reduction |
| Zombie | Legendary | +5% Lifesteal, +20 HP |
| Fortune | Legendary | +5% Coins, +5% EXP |
| Swift | Rare | +5% ATK Speed, +2 Walkspeed |
| Timer | Rare | +5% CD Reduction |
| Power | Rare | +5% ATK Damage |
Hunter is the best non-Mythic offensive trait and pairs well with Saiyan, Nen Prodigy, and Destructive Fists. Zombie trades damage for survival, which suits aggressive melee builds on Destructive Fists, Pride, and Shadow Monarch. Fortune is a pure farming trait, useful only when you are grinding coins and EXP.
The Rare traits are reroll fodder. Swift and Timer offer too little to matter at high difficulty, and Power's flat 5% damage is outscaled by every Legendary or Mythic option.

Best ability and trait pairings
| Ability | Best Trait | Best Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Saiyan | Reaper | All modes |
| Coyote | Flash | Raid, Survival |
| Pride | Reaper | All modes |
| Shadow Monarch | Reaper | Infinite |
| Atomic | Reaper | Raid, Dungeons |
| Head of Hei | Flash | Raid |
| Fire Fighter | Flash | Survival |
| Destructive Fists | Hunter or Zombie | Early to mid game |
Mastery progression notes
Killing zombies with an equipped ability raises its Mastery and adds permanent buffs to that weapon only. The breakpoints to remember are Mastery 25 for a walking speed boost, Mastery 50 for a damage boost, Mastery 75 for a much larger damage boost, and Mastery 100 to unlock the V skill. The V skill is what pushes Coyote and Atomic into S tier, so do not judge those abilities by their Mastery 0 performance.
If a roll lands on Power, Swift, or Timer, spend Trait Shards to reroll immediately. Those three offer almost no scaling into late Infinite or Nightmare content and will slow down every fight you bring them into.
