Anime Expeditions launches on Roblox with a compact roster where a small group of Mythic and Secret units carry most of the weight. Rarity alone does not decide value here, since placement limits, damage ramps, and trait scaling change how much a unit contributes across Story, Expeditions, and Raids. The ranking below sorts every current unit by real performance so you know which ones deserve upgrades and which ones are placeholders.
Quick answer: Build around Shadow (Divine), 8th Sword (Berserk), Puppet (Telekinetic), Cursed Student (True Love), and Toy Maker for damage, then add Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) for crowd control and Ramen Guy for economy. Everything below B tier is a temporary slot filler you should replace as stronger units arrive.

Full Anime Expeditions tier list (release meta)
This ranking reflects the July 2026 release meta. Placements assume the evolved form shown in each name, sensible upgrades, and a trait that fits the kit. Units were sorted on damage output, passive value, crowd control, economy impact, and how reliably they perform from early Story into endgame content.
| Tier | Units |
|---|---|
| S+ | Shadow (Divine), 8th Sword (Berserk), Puppet (Telekinetic), Cursed Student (True Love), Toy Maker |
| S | Crimson (Brother), Flame Emperor (Reincarnate), Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1), Lady Giant (Envy), Elf Mage (Unleashed), Ramen Guy |
| A | String Demon (Awakened), Reaper (Released), Hollow (Blaze), Forbidden Teacher, The Hero, True Saint (Holy) |
| B | Greed, Ice Queen, Water Princess, Scissor |
| C | Stone Alchemist, Ice Mage, Bounty Hunter, Corps Captain, Demon Cyborg, Nen Hunter |

Add to Google Preferences →Why the S+ carries dominate
The top group either produces exceptional personal damage or reshapes the whole team’s output through buffs and summons. These are the units to prioritize and invest in first.
- Shadow (Divine): Shadow Realm grants every Magical unit a 25% damage boost and pushes enemies, while permanent spirit summons add sustained damage across long waves. It is the centerpiece of any Magical team.
- 8th Sword (Berserk): Constant area damage chips at nearby enemies, and after 25 takedowns Berserk mode raises its Damage, Attack Speed, and Range. It posts the highest damage ceiling in the game once ramped, so place it early enough to hit that threshold.
- Puppet (Telekinetic): Puppet Mark automatically targets the strongest enemy in range, and its doll summon plus damage amplification make it one of the best Mythics for boss pressure.
- Cursed Student (True Love): A stronger follow-up lands after every three attacks, and every 20 Bleed stacks summons a bat spirit. It shreds high-health targets and scales hard in longer fights.
- Toy Maker: A one-placement summoner that drops toys directly onto enemy paths for blocking and lane damage. Its ceiling depends heavily on Unbound; with that trait it surges toward the top, without it treat it as B/C.
S-tier specialists and economy
The S tier sits just under the absolute best. Each unit either owns a role or provides support that lifts your whole lineup, though some need the right teammates or traits to peak.
| Unit | What it brings |
|---|---|
| Crimson (Brother) | Crimson Marks trigger delayed explosions and leave damaging pools, clearing packed waves with strong area control. |
| Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) | Burn spreads to nearby enemies and a wall of fire damages everything that passes, making it a top wave-clearer. |
| Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) | Slow and stagger keep enemies inside your DPS ranges longer, the best dedicated crowd control right now. |
| Lady Giant (Envy) | Giant form delivers heavy damage and stat boosts; pair it with attack-speed help to offset the slower cycle. |
| Elf Mage (Unleashed) | Arcane follow-ups scale unusually well with critical chance and damage for strong area output. |
| Ramen Guy | Raises Yen from kills by 50%, letting you afford expensive upgrades far earlier. The best economy unit available. |
A-tier reliables and beginner carries
A-tier units carry progression well when you do not yet own the meta picks. Several also double as flexible support.
- String Demon (Awakened): Cocoon stuns give valuable crowd control, and linked string follow-ups make it one of the most useful Mythics despite lower raw damage.
- Reaper (Released): Permanent damage and critical buffs grow the longer a stage runs. It wants multiple placements and crit gear, so Forsaken suits it better than Unbound.
- Hollow (Blaze): Hits harder against burning enemies, pairing best with Flame Emperor. Without a Burn source, its value drops.
- Forbidden Teacher: Buffs Magical units in range and combos naturally with Shadow.
- The Hero: Applies a scaling Physical damage buff, ideal inside a physical-heavy team.
- True Saint (Holy): An easy early pull whose mark increases damage enemies take. Strong for beginners, but it falls off in late content.
B, C, and D tiers: temporary slot fillers
Everything from B down should be replaced as your account grows. A few B units still hold niche value, while C and D exist mainly to fill teams during the opening chapters.
| Tier | Notes |
|---|---|
| B | Greed hits bosses harder but fades elsewhere; Ice Queen and Ice Mage-style control help early; Water Princess shields against debuffs; Scissor (also searched as Riyo) ramps against a single target. |
| C | Stone Alchemist farms early income before Ramen Guy outclasses it. Bounty Hunter, Corps Captain, Demon Cyborg, and Nen Hunter deal plain damage with little scaling. |
| D | Curly Brow, Kid Assassin, Reishi Archer, Thunder Shinobi, Rubber Boy, and Carrot lack meaningful passives and should be swapped out first. |
Traits that move a unit up or down
Rare traits can shift a unit by a full tier, so match the roll to the kit rather than chasing the same trait on everyone.
| Unit | Best trait |
|---|---|
| 8th Sword, Shadow, Cursed Student, Puppet, Toy Maker | Unbound |
| Elf Mage, Reaper | Forsaken |
| Lady Giant, String Demon, Salmon Sorcerer | Primordial |
| Flame Emperor, Hollow | Draconic |
Note: Toy Maker is the clearest example of trait dependence. Its one-placement limit makes Unbound unusually valuable, and without that roll it plays more like a B/C unit than a top-tier carry.
How to build your first team
For a new account, start with accessible damage from Greed and Scissor, then add a Legendary control or buffer like Ice Queen or The Hero. Bring True Saint (Holy) as an early carry, and pair Ramen Guy or Stone Alchemist for economy until Mythic and Secret units arrive. Replace each slot by role as you unlock the S and S+ picks above.
Keep in mind that build conditions can swing placements. Hollow drops without a Burn source, Cursed Student loses its bat summons without Bleed, and The Hero loses value on a Magical-heavy team. Before treating a weak run as a reroll problem, check equipment and lane overlap first. Balance patches, new gear, and banner changes are reasons to retest a unit rather than assume its tier is locked forever.
