Update 2.0 for Anime Expeditions adds a full fishing system built around the Tidal Siege event, and with it come five distinct fishing rods. Each rod carries its own stat spread and, in most cases, a passive that changes what you pull from the water. Some are free by default, one is a shop purchase, and the rest are locked behind fishing milestones or wave progress.
Quick answer: You start with the Normal Rod, buy the Advanced Rod for 750 Sand Dollars in the Summer Shop, fish 100 times for the Recycling Rod, catch fish for a 1% chance at the Lucky Rod, and reach Wave 150 in Tidal Siege for the Auto Rod.
All five fishing rods, stats, and unlock conditions
Every rod uses the same three stats. Lure Speed is shown as a low-high range, Control affects how tightly you can steer the minigame bar, and Control Zone sets the size of your catch window. Higher Control and Control Zone make faster-moving fish easier to reel in.

To open the rod menu, press the fish icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. The rod itself is equipped from the icon next to it. You can fish in any water body, including the lobby pools and the game mode maps.
Normal Rod: your starting rod
The Normal Rod is unlocked for all players from the moment you enter the game. It has no passive and sits at 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.5 Control, and 0.3 Control Zone. It is enough to catch common fish in the lobby and start building Milestone and Fishing EXP, but frantic higher-tier fish become hard to land with it. Treat it as the tool you use until you unlock something better.
Advanced Rod: buy it from the Summer Shop
The Advanced Rod is a straight purchase and the fastest upgrade path if you have currency to spend. It costs 750 Sand Dollars from the Summer Shop and carries a 5–10 Lure Speed, 0.5 Control, and 0.3 Control Zone. It has no passive. Sand Dollars come from clearing Tidal Siege waves and from fishing, so a short run through the event mode will fund it.
Recycling Rod: fish 100 times
The Recycling Rod is awarded automatically once you have fished 100 times, so it comes down to volume rather than luck. Its stats are 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.9 Control, and 0.4 Control Zone, giving it the highest Control values among the non-Auto rods. That makes it a strong choice for landing difficult fish.
Its passive turns your excess loot into upgrades. For every 10 items you sell, one is recycled into a random Legendary or higher item. If you are steadily selling fishing catches, this rod keeps feeding you high-rarity rewards in the background.
Lucky Rod: the rarest rod at a 1% drop
The Lucky Rod is the hardest rod to obtain because it drops at a 1% chance after catching any fish. There is no guaranteed path to it, so the only reliable method is to keep fishing and let the chance roll on each catch. Its stats are 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.7 Control, and 0.35 Control Zone.
Its passive is the reason to chase it. Every 8th fish you catch with the Lucky Rod equipped is a guaranteed Mythic drop. That fixed cadence makes it valuable for farming high-rarity fish once you have it, even though the acquisition itself is down to luck.
Auto Rod: reach Wave 150 in Tidal Siege
The Auto Rod is unlocked by reaching Wave 150 in the Tidal Siege Infinite Event Mode. It has the best overall stat spread, with 12–24 Lure Speed, 0.7 Control, and 0 Control Zone. Its passive skips the fishing minigame entirely and catches fish automatically, trading manual control for hands-off speed. Because it fishes on its own, it is the most convenient rod for grinding catches while you focus on other tasks.
Reaching Wave 150 takes a full run through the event’s Infinite Mode. Tidal Siege uses two lanes, with fodder enemies spawning on the right and bosses on the left, and a horde wave arriving every 20 waves. Fishing during the event pulls up characters, traits, equipment, and buff-giving fish such as the Mirror Fish, all of which help you push deeper into the waves.
How to confirm a rod unlocked
Each rod appears in the rod list under the fish icon in the bottom-left corner once you meet its condition. Milestone-based rods (Recycling and Auto) and the random Lucky Rod are added to that menu automatically the moment they are awarded, with no extra claim step. The Advanced Rod shows up there right after purchase. If a rod is not listed, you have not yet met its requirement, so check your fish count for the Recycling Rod or your Tidal Siege wave for the Auto Rod.
Between the five rods, the Auto Rod is the most practical for long grinding sessions thanks to its automatic catches and top stats, while the Lucky Rod is the prize for anyone farming Mythic fish. Keep clearing Tidal Siege waves and filling out your Fish Index, and the milestone rods will fall into place as your catch count climbs.
