The King of Chaos Boss Rush pits your squad against Sosuke Aizen, and the Nightmare difficulty is the only place that drops Arm Chains. That material is a hard requirement for evolving Vasto Lorde into Ichigo (Chained), which is why most players push this fight after Update 5’s Espada Arc went live.
Quick answer: Stall Aizen at the front with slow or support units like Smoker (White Hunter) or Nami, line the path with high-DPS units such as Yuneko or King of Curses, pick upgrades that slow his attacks and cut Hado damage, then use the King of Curses shrine ability to skip his attack windows and finish the run.

Why you need Arm Chains from Nightmare
Arm Chains only drop from King of Chaos Boss Rush on Nightmare, at a 2% rate. That low chance means repeat clears, so a reliable Nightmare setup matters more than a single lucky run.
Arm Chains are one of several parts in the Ichigo (Chained) evolution. The full material list is below so you know what else to farm alongside your Nightmare runs.
| Material | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Mugetsu Sword (Unleashed) | Karakura Town Final Showdown Legend Stage 2 |
| Arm Chains | King of Chaos Boss Rush (Nightmare), 2% drop |
| Mugetsu Fragment I | Boss Rush Shop for 900 Boss Rush Tokens |
| Mugetsu Fragment II | King of Chaos Boss Rush (Infinite), 3% drop |
| Mugetsu Fragment III | Karakura Town Final Showdown Legend Stage 1, 5% drop |
| Mugetsu Fragment IV | Espada Arc content |
Note: Every Nightmare clear also awards a Boss Rush Token, which feeds directly into buying Mugetsu Fragment I from the Boss Rush Shop.

Nightmare rewards a mix of crowd control and damage. You want a unit or two that keeps Aizen’s forces from reaching the exit, plus enough DPS spread along the path to melt them before they cross.
- Slow and support: Smoker (White Hunter) or Nami, placed at the front to delay Aizen’s advance.
- High DPS: Yuneko and King of Curses, placed along the lane for sustained damage.
- Utility finisher: King of Curses, whose shrine ability can skip Aizen’s attacks for a fast clear.
If your roster is thin, active codes hand out rerolls and gems to help you pull stronger units. You can enter them from the Codes menu in the lobby inside Anime Final Strike. Current working codes include AFSISBACK!, ESPADA, Bankai!, FyeSavedUs!, thatswhatfinalmeans, choppeddevkeepsrestarting, dontslimemeout, and sorryforshutdown67!.

How to confirm the clear and drop
You know the run succeeded when Aizen is defeated and the victory screen awards a Boss Rush Token. Arm Chains appear in your rewards only when the 2% roll hits, so a clear without them is normal and expected.
If Arm Chains do not drop, run Nightmare again. Because the rate is low, plan on several clears, and use each Boss Rush Token toward Mugetsu Fragment I in the Boss Rush Shop while you keep farming.
Once you have Arm Chains plus the Mugetsu Sword (Unleashed) and all four Mugetsu Fragments, head to the Evolve chamber to turn Vasto Lorde into Ichigo (Chained). The evolution unlocks there once every requirement is in your inventory.
