Anime Vanguards: 6 Best Units Beginners Can Get Without Summoning

Exact routes, shop costs, and token counts for six high-tier units that need no existing roster.

Exact routes, shop costs, and token counts for six high-tier units that need no existing roster.

Most of the strongest units in Anime Vanguards sit behind summon banners with brutal pity counts, which is why new and returning accounts stall out early. Six of the current top-tier picks skip that problem entirely. They come from event modes, a dungeon token shop, an Event Pass, and a gold purchase, and none of them ask you to already own a strong team.

Quick answer: Clear the Summer Event’s Zombie Quest first for Today’s Strongest vs History’s Strongest, since that mode hands you a pre-set loadout instead of using your own units. Then use it to clear Worldlines Floor 50 for Rebel Fighter and to farm Lunar Bridge tokens for the two 1,000-token shop units.

Two familiars pair with the list. The Goblin Slayer familiar, sold as the Sealed Spell Scroll, costs 1,000 tokens in the same Lunar Bridge Dungeon Shop. Gilgamesh’s familiar, the Sword of Rupture, is a 500,000 gold purchase in the Gold Shop.

Start with Zombie Quest, because it lends you units

Zombie Quest inside the Summer Event is the one mode that does not care how weak your account is. It drops you in with a fixed loadout, so clearing it is a matter of learning the zone objectives rather than owning evolved carries. The reward is Today’s Strongest vs History’s Strongest, a Vanguard unit that sits in the top bracket of the overall rankings.

Open the Play menu from the hub and pick the Summer Event. This is also where your event point total accumulates, so every run counts twice.

One detail makes this unit worth rushing above everything else on the list. It ignores Worldlines Weather effects, so the modifiers that normally punish an underbuilt team do nothing to it. Note that it also appears on the competitive ban list, so treat it as a progression tool rather than a PvP option.

Rebel Fighter: Clear Worldlines Floor 50

Rebel Fighter (Gauntlet) unlocks from completing Floor 50 of Worldlines. On paper that is a wall for a new account, which is exactly why the order matters. Bring Today’s Strongest vs History’s Strongest, let it ignore the weather modifier, and the floor becomes a straightforward clear instead of a multi-week project.

Rebel Fighter is a limited unit and lands in both the top overall bracket and the high end of the DPS rankings, so it will stay in your lineup long after the early game.

Event Pass rewards: Holy Deceiver, Jotaro, and Goblin Killer

The Event Pass converts Summer Event points into units, and it has no level gates attached. Nothing here asks you to reach a rank threshold or own a specific rarity first, which makes it the most reliable progress path on a fresh account.

Holy Deceiver (Dark) is the headline reward. It is flagged as a limited unit and shows up across the overall, DPS, support, and crowd control rankings, which is unusual coverage for a single character. Jotaro comes from the same track. Finishing the pass also pays out tokens, and those tokens buy Goblin Killer (Trapper) from the Exclusive Shop.

Tip: Points accumulate from normal event play, so run the zombie mode you were already clearing for the first unit rather than grinding a separate mode.

Lunar Bridge Dungeon Shop: Gilgamesh and the Sealed Spell Scroll

Two purchases live behind the same currency. Gilgamesh (King of Heroes) costs 1,000 tokens, and the Goblin Slayer familiar, listed as the Sealed Spell Scroll, costs another 1,000. You earn those tokens by running Lunar Bridge itself.

Open the Lunar Bridge lobby and pick a lower act, such as Act 5 or Act 6. The token payout per clear is smaller, but the runs are short and survivable without a finished team.

Turn on autoplay and let the runs repeat. This is the part that farms itself, so it can run while you do something else.
During longer runs, take the additive cards offered at wave checkpoints. Damage-focused picks keep clears fast enough that autoplay does not stall out.

Open the Dungeon Shop once you hold 1,000 tokens and buy Gilgamesh. Keep farming for the second 1,000 if you want the Sealed Spell Scroll as well.

Sword of Rupture costs 500,000 gold

Gilgamesh’s familiar is not a token purchase. The Sword of Rupture sits in the Gold Shop for 500,000 gold, a total most accounts reach through normal stage clears without any dedicated farming. Gilgamesh himself appears in the DPS and utility rankings and anchors the boss-shredding team composition alongside Holy Deceiver (Dark) and Goblin Killer (Trapper), so the three Event Pass and shop pickups slot together neatly.

Rogita (Super 4): Farm gems in Wartorn Warfront

Rogita (Super 4) is the one entry that still runs through a summon banner, and the pity sits at 25,000 summons. That number only looks impossible until you see the gem rate attached to Wartorn Warfront, which pays 100,000 gems per mission and up to 500,000 gems per day.

Run the Warfront missions daily, bank the gems, and pull on the Special Summon banner rather than spreading them across other banners. Rogita is ranked as the top single-target boss killer in the game, so the gems are not wasted even if you hit pity the slow way.

How to confirm each unlock worked

Mode-based unlocks land as soon as the clear screen resolves. After finishing Zombie Quest or Worldlines Floor 50, check your unit inventory directly rather than waiting for a popup, since the unit is added immediately on completion. Shop purchases are more obvious, as the token or gold balance drops and the item moves into your inventory in the same action.

The common stumbling blocks are short. Event Pass units require enough points to actually hit their reward tier, so a partial pass gives nothing. Both Lunar Bridge purchases cost 1,000 tokens each, not 1,000 total, which catches people who buy Gilgamesh and expect the familiar to follow. And the Sword of Rupture is a gold purchase, so token farming will never unlock it.

Order matters more than raw grinding here. The zombie mode gives you a carry without asking for one, that carry opens Worldlines Floor 50, and the dungeon and shop pickups fill in the rest at a pace an autoplay loop can handle. The Summer Event routes are tied to a limited window and Holy Deceiver (Dark) is flagged as a limited unit, so clear those two first and leave the gold and gem purchases for later.
