Anime Zero Skill Tree: Every Branch, Bonus, and Token Cost

How the four stat branches scale, what each node gives, and where to spend tokens first.

How the four stat branches scale, what each node gives, and where to spend tokens first.

The Skill Tree in Anime Zero hands you permanent stat boosts that do not depend on luck or lucky weapon pulls. You spend Skill Tokens on nodes across four branches, and each node you unlock sticks with the weapon you put it on. It is open from the moment you start playing, so there is nothing to grind toward before you can use it.

Quick answer: Open the Skills tab from the left menu, pick the Attack branch, and spend tokens to unlock its nodes first. Attack gives up to +60% attack damage at its final node, then move to Critical.

Four branches and what every node gives

There are four paths: Speed (SPD), Defense (DEF), Critical (CRIT), and Attack (ATK). Each path contains five nodes. Node one merely unlocks its path and gives no bonus; bonuses start with node two. The values shown for each node are that node’s bonus, not a cumulative amount added to previous ranks.

StartingNo bonusNo bonusNo bonusNo bonus

5+25% damage+6% crit chance10% less damage10% faster
9+40% damage+10% crit chance15% less damage15% faster
11+60% damage+15% crit chance25% less damage25% faster

Attack raises your raw damage directly. Critical bumps how often your hits crit. Defense cuts the damage you take, and Speed increases how fast you move. The final node in each branch costs 11 tokens, so maxing a single path is a meaningful investment.

How to open the Skill Tree and spend tokens

The tree is reachable from Level 1, with no NPC to find and no milestone to hit. Redeeming active Anime Zero codes early is worth doing, since some of them hand you free Skill Tokens to spend before your first proper run.

Open the menu and select the Skill Tree (Skills) option on the left side of the screen.
Pick one of the four stat branches and look over its nodes and their token costs.
Choose a node and press the Buy button to unlock it. Your token balance sits in the token area of the skills menu, so check it before committing.

A node counts as unlocked once the Buy press goes through and your token total drops by that node’s cost, with the bonus then applied to your weapon’s stats.

How to earn more Skill Tokens

Tokens come from leveling up and from using a weapon during runs. Each weapon carries its own separate Skill Tree, so the tokens you earn feed the progression of whatever weapon you are actively fighting with. If you want to build up a specific weapon, you have to run with that weapon to gather its tokens.

Because trees are weapon-bound, spreading tokens across several weapons early slows every one of them down. Pick one weapon, feed its tree, and switch later once it can clear mid-game content comfortably.

Which branch to upgrade first

For faster dungeon clears, go Attack first. It is a flat damage increase that pays off in every fight, no matter what weapon or gear you run. Once Attack is maxed, put tokens into Critical. Critical earns its keep when your build already supports crits, since the extra crit chance only matters if your gear and traits lean into critical hits.

Defense is the pick when boss fights keep knocking you out. The top node cuts incoming damage by a quarter, which buys survival time in harder encounters. Speed is situational and worth it mainly if slow movement is dragging down your run times or costing you dodges. Match whatever you choose to the accessories and weapon you use most, so the investment lines up with your current build.

A balanced spread across all four branches tends to leave you weaker everywhere, so commit to one path, finish it, then move to the next based on whether you are dying or clearing too slowly.
