Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Is Not Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Anyone hoping to play the pirate remake on Nintendo’s hybrid is out of luck. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and there is no Nintendo Switch 2 version, at launch or otherwise. Ubisoft has not announced a port for the console, and its own crossover plans have effectively ruled Nintendo out.

Quick answer: There is no Switch 2 release. To play Black Flag Resynced, use a PS5, an Xbox Series X|S, or a PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, Steam Deck, or the Epic Games Store.

Where you can play Black Flag Resynced

The remake is a modern AAA build running on the latest Anvil engine, with ray tracing, micropolygon rendering, dynamic weather, and destructible environments. That hardware demand is exactly why a Nintendo release never materialized. The confirmed platforms are limited to current-generation consoles and PC.

Why a Switch 2 port looks unlikely

The clearest signal did not come from a store page. It came from an Assassin’s Creed Shadows update. Title Update 1.1.11 adds new Animus Hub Projects that give pirate-themed rewards and crossover content tied to Black Flag Resynced, and Ubisoft flagged that these Projects would not appear on Switch 2 for one specific reason.

Unfortunately, these will not be available on Nintendo Switch 2 as it contains crossover content with Black Flag Resynced, which will not be releasing for Nintendo.

That line does two things. It confirms the crossover rewards are blocked on Switch 2, and it states plainly that the remake itself is not planned for Nintendo. A post-launch Switch 2 version has been floated as a possibility, but nothing has been confirmed, and that patch note makes it harder to expect.

What you miss on Nintendo hardware

Skipping Nintendo means skipping more than the base campaign. Black Flag Resynced expands Edward Kenway’s story with new arcs for characters such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, three officers who join the main narrative, new sea shanties, pets aboard the Jackdaw, and a photo mode. Combat and stealth were also reworked, adding new parrying, the ability to crouch anywhere, and more flexible tailing missions.

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows crossover is the other casualty. The end-game quest known as The Black Tides links Shadows to Black Flag Resynced, and it rewards Japan-inspired outfits for Edward along with pirate-themed gear for Naoe and Yasuke. None of that content flows to Switch 2, because the remake it depends on is not there.

For now the answer is settled. If you own a Switch 2 and only a Switch 2, there is no way to sail the Jackdaw in this remake. Never say never on a later port, but Ubisoft has committed only to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
