Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game arrives with a hand-drawn 2D cast pulled from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The launch lineup holds 12 fighters, and a Year 1 Pass adds five more after release, bringing the total to 17. One of those DLC slots is left open for players to decide by vote.
Quick answer: The base game ships with Aang, Korra, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Toph, Azula, Zaheer, Kyoshi, Ozai, Avatar State Aang, and Avatar State Korra. The Year 1 Pass adds Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin, and a fifth fighter chosen by a fan vote.
The 12 launch fighters and how they play
The base roster spans multiple generations of the franchise, mixing heroes, villains, and two special Avatar State variants. Every character is animated frame by frame, and each one leans into a distinct combat archetype.
| Fighter | Style / archetype |
|---|---|
| Aang | Airbending; mobile, long-range fighter who zips around on his air scooter |
| Korra | Aggressive close-range brawler built on raw force |
| Katara | Waterbending zoner using mid-range whips and ice traps |
| Sokka | Non-bender relying on club counters, boomerangs, and traps |
| Zuko | Firebending rushdown with dual broadswords and forward pressure |
| Toph | Grounded powerhouse with earth walls and seismic sense |
| Azula | Blue fire and lightning setups for tight frame traps |
| Zaheer | Floaty airbender built on aerial loops and evasion |
| Kyoshi | Slow, armored juggernaut with heavy war-fan hits |
| Ozai | High-damage Fire Lord who controls the air and the screen |
| Avatar State Aang | Pure elemental dominance variant |
| Avatar State Korra (Nightmare Korra) | High-risk install variant with unhinged spirit mechanics |
The full base lineup was confirmed after a staggered reveal, with the final characters shown during the Evo Awards 2026 broadcast.
Support characters expand the cast to 36
Each fighter picks one of three support characters before a match, and that choice changes the fighter’s abilities. That means 36 support characters sit behind the 12 launch slots. Toph can call in The Hippo to add properties to her stone pillars for longer combos, while Korra can summon Naga, and Sokka teams with Suki.
| Fighter | Support characters |
|---|---|
| Aang | Gyatso, Appa, Momo |
| Korra | Naga, Raava, Tonraq |
| Zuko | Mai, June, Ran & Shaw |
| Katara | Kanna, Master Pakku, Hakoda |
| Toph | The Boulder, Badgermole, The Hippo |
| Sokka | Suki, Piandao, Yue |
| Azula | Lo and Li, Joo Dee, Ursa |
| Kyoshi | Rangi, Kelsang, Yun |
On top of supports, each fighter also carries three variations with different movesets, such as Zuko’s redemption system or Azula’s Fire Lord stance. Between variations and supports, no two matchups behave exactly alike.
Year 1 Pass: the four confirmed DLC fighters
The Year 1 Pass brings five extra fighters after launch. Four are already locked in, each with its own approach to the four-button system.
| DLC fighter | Style / focus |
|---|---|
| Uncle Iroh | Firebender with explosive close-range pressure and lightning specials |
| Ty Lee | Agile non-bender using gymnastics and chi-blocking to briefly shut off enemy specials |
| Lin Beifong | Mid-range zoner and grappler swinging with metal cables |
| Bolin | Earthbender boxer with lavabending area-of-effect damage |
These five DLC fighters do not arrive on day one. They roll out across the game’s competitive seasons after launch.
The fifth slot is a fan vote
The final Year 1 Pass character is decided by players who pre-order. Eligible voters get one ballot per verified game license in late summer, and the choice cannot be changed once submitted. Five candidates are in the running.
| Candidate | Style / focus |
|---|---|
| Amon | Bloodbending grappler with eerie movement, command grabs, and enemy displacement |
| Kuvira | Metalbending precision zoner pinning foes with metal strips |
| King Bumi | Earthbending setplay with launched rocks and sinking floors |
| Asami Sato | High-tech rushdown with stun gloves, smoke bombs, and mechanical dashes |
| Tenzin | Defensive airbender with large air-cushion hitboxes and wind walls |
Note: skip the pre-order window and you lose the vote entirely, along with the exclusive Samurai Appa support skin.
