Modes, the Orso 4 starter car, hosting races with the V key, and how CR, crates, and car unlocks work.

In Backseat Rally, a Roblox rally game, the driver cannot see the route ahead, but the co-driver can. Follow pace calls from the passenger seat as you tackle woodland roads, snow-covered passes, and routes lined with cherry blossoms. There are seven cars and five stages, with rain, mud, and snow conditions. When playing solo, an AI co-driver rides along using a friend’s avatar. Aim for medal times or race against other players head-to-head.

Quick answer: Press PLAY, pick DRIVE, spawn the Orso 4 starter car, stop in the start box, and run the stage. Press V at the start line to host a race against other players.

Backseat Rally modes: Drive, Co-Drive, and Free Roam

The main menu has six options: PLAY, SHOP, MY GARAGE, CONTRACTS, STAGES, and SETTINGS. Your role shows in the top-right corner, with your name next to DRIVER and a “Find a co-driver” slot next to CO-DRIVER. Choosing PLAY opens a “How do you want to play?” screen with three modes.

ModeYour role
DRIVESpawn your car and drive it
CO-DRIVESit beside a driver and call the corners
FREE ROAMWalk around the service park on foot

DRIVE is the place to start if you want to learn how the cars handle. CO-DRIVE is for when someone else is already behind the wheel and needs a navigator. Inside a car, an E Co-drive prompt lets you take the passenger seat.

How to start your first stage in Backseat Rally

Launch Backseat Rally on Roblox and you’ll land on the title screen. Pine Forest, in the Northern Woodland region, is the default stage. It is 1.5 km long with 19 curves, and the gold medal time is 01:12.0.

Select PLAY from the main menu. This opens the mode picker.
Choose DRIVE. The next screen shows your car and its stats, which is the Orso 4 on a new account.
Decide who fills the co-driver seat. You can pick AI CO-DRIVER, LEAVE SEAT OPEN for anyone on the server, or SPAWN + INVITE to bring in a friend.

Drive into the start box after you spawn. A “TRACK 19 – STARTLINE PINE FOREST” pop-up confirms you’re in position. The HUD shows “STOP IN THE START BOX” if you need to settle the car.
Wait for the countdown and drive the stage from the cockpit view. Chevron arrows mark the corners, and gauges on the HUD track speed and distance.

Your run is underway when the countdown finishes and the timer starts. Damage carries over during a session. A cracked windshield stays in the cockpit view after a hard hit.

Orso 4 starter car stats

Every new player starts with the Orso 4, which the game lists as a lifted rear-wheel-drive city car. It sits tall on mud tyres and carries a spare on the roof. It is slow and leans and slides a lot, and the game openly pitches it as the car you learn on.

Hosting a race with the V key

Open driving has collisions turned off between players by default, so cars pass straight through each other. If you want contact, or an actual head-to-head event, host a race. At the start line, press V to open the Race menu for that stage, which shows as “RACES PINE FOREST” on the default track. Set the options below and confirm with HOST RACE.

  • Who can join: Everyone, Friends, or Invite only
  • Collisions: Off or On
  • Entry Fee: Free by default
  • Racers: 2 to 6 players
  • Class: Any, D, C, B, A, S, or Stock

Collisions only apply inside a hosted race that has them switched on. Everywhere else, other cars are ghosts.

CR, crates, and the Garage

CR is the in-game currency you earn by playing, and your balance appears on the HUD. You spend it in the Garage, which has CUSTOMIZE, CHANGE CAR, DRIVER, CRATES, and BACK TO THE CAR menus. The Crates menu sells three crates for either CR or Robux.

CrateCR priceRobux price
Clubman Crate600 CR49 R$
Wheel Crate1000 CR79 R$

Duplicates aren’t wasted. A repeat drop converts to CR based on its rarity.

Unlocking new rally cars

The rest of the roster sits behind your driver level. Open CHANGE CAR in the Garage to browse it. Locked cars show their requirement directly on the card. The Saetta HF, for example, reads “Unlocks at level 3” and shows your current level next to it. Some cars can also be unlocked instantly with Robux, and one such prompt costs 99 Robux.

A car is yours once its card no longer shows a level lock. You can then select it in CHANGE CAR and take it back out with BACK TO THE CAR. Faster cars also open up the higher class brackets in hosted races, so leveling up gets you better cars and more race options.
