Armor in Beast of Reincarnation controls three things at once: how much damage Emma soaks up, how many Spirit Stone Slots she can fit, and how quickly nearby enemies notice her through the Enemy Awareness stat. Most pieces also add resistance to one element, and a few cover two. There are 14 sets to collect as you move through the campaign, and each one sits inside a Strongbox tied to a specific zone or story beat.
Quick answer: The God Tree Guard is the strongest armor in the game. It offers 59 defense, six Spirit Stone Slots, and resistance to both Poison and Acid. Grab it from the Strongbox next to the Sewage Works: Ingress camp in The Capital Zone near the end of the story.
How armor stats work in Beast of Reincarnation
Every armor piece is Emma’s main source of defense. Beyond that raw number, two stats decide how you play. Spirit Stone Slots set how many stones you can slot in for extra buffs, and six is the maximum any armor reaches. Enemy Awareness ranges from Nonexistent to Extreme, and the higher it is, the faster the enemy detection gauge fills. Heavier, bulkier armor is louder.
Note: High Enemy Awareness does not block stealth outright. You can still sneak up and land stealth takedowns even in the loudest gear, so a strong defensive piece with Extreme awareness stays viable if you play carefully.

Early-game armor locations (Chapters 1–2)
Light Gambeson is Emma’s default set and is equipped from the moment you start. No exploration needed.
Chain Mail sits in the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, the game’s first area. Look for a Strongbox right beside the Cliff-Facing Tower camp, which overlooks the large lake above the Rangifer boss arena. Its Flame Resistance makes it a strong early defensive upgrade despite the Extreme Enemy Awareness.

Thick Cuirass appears in Chapter 2 immediately after you beat the red robot and meet Kunai. When the cutscene ends, follow the ‘Supply power to the gate’ objective and open the Strongbox in the hallway next to the room where you fought the giant robot.
Garb of Tranquility is on the eastern side of the Ancient Civilization Zone. Head toward the Nushi’s lair, pass the bear and Golem fighting one another, and keep looking right for a large open pipe leading into a small cave. The Strongbox is just inside. This is the only set with Nonexistent Enemy Awareness, so enemies won’t notice you unless you walk right up to them.

Great Wall Terraces and Pilgrim’s Zone armor (Chapters 3–4)
Insulating Mail is on the western side of the Great Wall Terraces. Find the large power plant structure, climb to the top, and open the Strongbox inside a small hut. The Lightning Resistance of 70 is the highest single-element value at this stage.

Floral Wraps is also in the Great Wall Terraces, inside a Strongbox next to the Old Sagami Colony: Approach camp, close to the Nushi’s lair. It carries six Spirit Stone Slots and Low awareness, making it a fine stealth-friendly option.
Leather Garb shows up during Chapter 4 in Pilgrim’s Zone. While working the ‘Origin of Ringing’ objective, you’ll reach the Cave Depths camp. The Strongbox is right beside it, and the armor offers Flame Resistance of 80.

Matsukawa and Fuji Frontier armor (mid-game)
Scale Coat is in the Matsukawa Zone on the eastern side of the map, easy to reach from the Ruins: Approach camp. Its 36 defense and five slots make it a solid mid-game pick with Poison Resistance.
Mirror Guard is also in the Matsukawa Zone but on the far west side. An elite enemy guards the Strongbox, so clear it before opening. The reward is 45 defense and Acid Resistance of 80.

Dance Attire is in the Fuji Frontier Zone, inside a Strongbox near the Wandering Merchant close to the Collapsed Pipes: Approach camp. It pairs six slots with Low awareness and resists both Flame and Lightning, which makes it one of the most flexible mid-game sets.
Late-game armor locations (Chapters 7–8 and beyond)
Amber Breastplate is in the Drowned Region during Chapter 7. Follow the ‘Head to the Giant Tree’ objective and open the Strongbox next to the Giant Tree: Root Depths camp. Its Acid Resistance of 90 is worth carrying for the Nushi fight that leans heavily on Acid damage.
Silver Cuirass is on the western side of the Great Tree Zone. Look for a Strongbox on a platform made of trees and branches, a little north of the Giant Tree: Feeding Ground camp. It covers both Poison and Lightning.
Ornate Robe is in the Crater Zone of the Wasteland Region. During Chapter 8, the objective sends you to the fortress inside the crater, and you’ll pass the Strongbox naturally. With 54 defense, dual Flame and Lightning Resistance of 80 each, and Low awareness, it is the best all-around option before the final set.

God Tree Guard is found in The Capital Zone near the end of the story. Grab it from the Strongbox just beside the Sewage Works: Ingress camp.

Which armor is the best?
The God Tree Guard is the clear winner by a wide margin. It has the highest base defense in the game at 59, resists both Poison and Acid, and carries the maximum six Spirit Stone Slots. The one drawback is its High Enemy Awareness, so enemies spot you more easily. Since stealth takedowns still work in any armor, that downside is manageable with patient play.
If you want more slots earlier without the noise, the Ornate Robe is the strongest fallback. It keeps six slots’ worth of value through Low awareness, adds 54 defense, and doubles up on Flame and Lightning Resistance, which covers most late-game threats before you reach The Capital Zone. For stealth-heavy sections, the Garb of Tranquility remains useful the whole game thanks to its Nonexistent awareness, even though its defense stays low.
