Material demand in RuneScape: Dragonwilds has shifted toward the endgame. Discordant Residue, Black Dragon Hide, Rune Essence and Adamant-tier ore are what most players are short on, and the fastest sources are a mix of dense enemy spawns inside the raid and tight teleporter loops in the overworld. There is also a movement trick that lets you drop straight into Cataclysm Keep instead of clearing The Shattered Stronghold.

Quick answer: Farm the ritual circle in the Gornfell Keep graveyard for Discordant Residue, then skip The Shattered Stronghold by falling off the map near Desh Keep, holding Reset Position, and teleporting to Cataclysm Keep.

What a Scorned Wilderness run pays out

A full loop through Scorned Wilderness fills your bags with combat-only materials you cannot mine or grow. Discordant Residue is the headline drop, and it comes off the undead that patrol the fortress areas. Black Dragon Hide turns up as well, alongside consumables such as Pumpkin Spice Infusion that are worth holding for longer pushes.

Enemy respawns inside the raid are currently inconsistent. Some packs come back on a short timer, others do not repopulate until you leave and re-enter, so treat any single clear as variable rather than a fixed rate.

Gornfell Keep graveyard: best Discordant Residue farm

The graveyard tucked inside Gornfell Keep is the strongest repeatable spot right now. Skeletal Warriors respawn quickly there, and a ritual circle on the ground lets you summon more on demand instead of waiting for natural spawns.

From your entry point in Scorned Wilderness, cross the glowing bridge and follow the path toward the fortress town. The floating light bridge leads directly into Gornfell Keep.
Inside the keep, take the wooden scaffolding down into the graveyard. This is the arena you will be fighting in, so clear the loose Skeletal Warriors first and note your exit route.
Stand on the glowing circular platform in the middle of the graveyard. It triggers an additional wave of Skeletal Warriors, which is what turns the area from a one-off clear into a farm.
Kill the wave, collect the Discordant Residue, and step back onto the circle to repeat. You know the loop is working when a fresh group spawns each time you re-trigger the platform.

If you want to bookmark the spot, open the map and look for Gornfell Fortress. That marker is the anchor for the whole route.

Zombie packs and hidden chests on the way in

The opening stretch of the raid is worth clearing rather than running past. A cluster of Zombies sits early on the route, and you can fight it from an elevated rock so the group funnels toward you instead of surrounding you.

Two chests are easy to miss along the same path:

  • Near the zombie area, look beside the cliff edge for a chest tucked between the large yellow tree roots.
  • A golden chest higher up the same root structure, reached by grappling and climbing. It contains Rune Essence.

Between the two, the archway gateway packs skeletons with their own respawn timers, so you can add a few extra kills to the run without detouring.

Raid skip: Reset Position into Cataclysm Keep

The Shattered Stronghold is the slowest section to re-clear on repeat runs. You can bypass it entirely using the game’s own out-of-bounds recovery.

Make your way to the Death’s Church area of Desh Keep and position yourself above the yellow gas chasm. This is the drop point for the skip.
Jump off the map into the chasm. Do not wait for a death screen.
Pause the game while falling and use Hold to Reset Position [X]. The game pulls you back to a safe load point rather than killing you.
You reload beside Commander Zilyana in the Bramblemead and Temple Woods area. Interact with the teleporter and select Cataclysm Keep.

You know the skip worked when the destination list offers Cataclysm Keep and the teleport drops you past The Shattered Stronghold, with no need to fight through it.

The Cataclysm Keep option is available because the Scorned Wilderness teleporter pad registers proximity triggers from inside Desh Keep. It is a quirk of how the pad detects you, not an intended shortcut, so expect it to change.

Overworld node routes by region

Ores, clay and herbs come from static resource nodes, so the fastest method is a teleporter placed beside a dense cluster and a short loop back to it. Drop the teleporter where enemy patrols are thin rather than at the centre of the richest patch.

Stormtouched Highlands has two viable versions of the same loop. The ground route hugs the cliff walls and links Iron, Granite and Sandstone in one pass. The safer option is to build wooden stairs up the cliffs and work the nodes from above, which keeps you out of reach of most of what roams the area.

Adamant Ore, Yew and Red Dragonhide sit at the top of the material chain since Umbral Sands. Adamant feeds tools plus melee and ranged gear, Yew covers a fishing rod and ranged weapon parts, and Red Dragonhide can be tanned into armour.

Node respawn rules that can break your route

Depleted resource nodes start a timer that runs anywhere from half an in-game day to three days before they come back. That timer only counts down if the spawn point is clear.

Placing any structure directly on a node’s spawn stops it from returning. Keep teleporters, stairs and storage a few steps away from the rocks and plants you are farming, or you will permanently kill your own loop.

Farming plots for renewable herbs and food

Anything you can grow is worth removing from your gathering route. Farming arrived with the 0.10 Fellhollow update on 15 December 2025, and it unlocks by completing Growing Pains for the Wise Old Man in Bramblemead Valley. After that you can build plots and stop hunting wild herbs.

Plot type matters for growth speed and reliability. Redberry, cabbage, potato, flax, wheat, Harralander and Marrentil prefer Ash Farming Plots. Dwellberry, onion, tomato, Kwuarm, swamp weed, Snapdragon and Toadflax do better in Oak plots, while Cadavaberry, pumpkin, watermelon, corpse cotton and Irit belong in Willow plots.

A few layout and upkeep rules keep a plot farm running with minimal effort:

  • Build plots in a block two wide and four long so one Humidify raincloud waters everything.
  • Place plots low to the ground, otherwise you have to jump onto each one.
  • Compost speeds growth and lowers disease chance; it accepts produce, meat, cooked or burnt food, and weeds.
  • Plant cure unlocks at level 3 and removes disease instantly. Craft it in bulk at a cooking range from weeds, animal bones and clean water.
  • Tree farming opens at level 20, which is when Ash, Oak, Willow and Maple seeds become worth planting.

Diseased plants stop growing before they die, so a chest of plant cure next to the plots is enough to save a crop you neglected for a cycle.

Put together, the routine is short. Grow your herbs and food at base, run one regional loop for whichever ore you are short of, then take the reset trick into Cataclysm Keep and cycle the Gornfell graveyard circle until your Discordant Residue stack is where you need it. The skip in particular leans on a teleporter trigger quirk, so build your routine around the farms first and treat the shortcut as a bonus while it lasts.
