The current status of the Roblox horror game’s shutdown, what the team says it is fixing, and how to tell when it reopens.

Bite by Night, the asymmetrical horror survival experience on Roblox, is still offline. The game page carries a maintenance tag, live player counts sit at zero, and the shutdown has now stretched far past what most players expected when it began. The most recent word from the development side comes from saivv, who has returned from a period of inactivity and is working on backend systems before the game reopens.

Quick answer: There is no confirmed reopen date or time. Bite by Night is still in maintenance, backend work including a payment system is in progress, and the only reliable confirmation will be the game becoming joinable again on its Roblox page.

Bite by Night current status: still unavailable

The experience is listed under the developer group “totally not secret games” and its title on Roblox currently carries a maintenance marker. Concurrent players read zero across every window, from the past 24 hours to the past 30 days, which means no public servers are running at all. This is not a case of full servers or a bad connection on your end.

The lifetime numbers show how large the game got before it went dark. It has passed 342 million visits, holds over 703,000 upvotes against roughly 60,000 downvotes for a 92.1 percent rating, and peaked at 350,238 concurrent players on April 7, 2026. Those figures are static now because nobody can join.

What developer saivv said about the return

The clearest recent signal came through the game’s Discord. The developer known as saivv posted that they were back after a stretch of inactivity and that announcements would begin rolling out shortly.

im back from my inactivity tomorrow, expect announcements to start coming in across the next few days and onward

A follow-up message narrowed things down further. saivv clarified the return had already happened and described the work underway as backend improvements, with payments named specifically. The same message put announcements within a few days, by the weekend at the latest.

Two things are worth separating here. An announcement is not the same as a reopen. What was promised is communication, not a dated relaunch, and no exact return time has been attached to it.

Why the payment system matters to the timeline

The payment work ties back to commitments laid out in the document circulated as “Ozels response,” and it is being handled as part of the backend pass rather than as a gameplay feature. Systems like this touch databases, transaction handling, and server infrastructure, which is the category of change that is difficult to ship while an experience is live.

That helps explain why a full shutdown was chosen instead of a rolling update. It also means the reopen depends on infrastructure being stable, not on a content drop being finished.

Note: A separate statement from the development team addressed and denied unpaid wage claims raised by a former PR staff member. That dispute is distinct from the technical work, though both surfaced during the same downtime period.

How to verify Bite by Night is back

There is one dependable check, and it does not involve Discord rumors or countdown posts.

Open the Bite by Night experience page on Roblox. If the maintenance marker is still in the title and the play button does not launch a server, nothing has changed.
Check the live player count on the page. A number above zero means public servers are running again. Zero means the experience is still closed, regardless of what any post claims.
Confirm by loading into the Lobby. Reaching the between-round hub and seeing the match timer start is the point at which the game is genuinely playable, not just listed.

Claims to ignore while the game is down

Long downtime produces confident-sounding predictions. Most of them have nothing behind them.

ClaimStatus
The game is shutting down permanentlyNot supported by anything confirmed
A specific reopen date has been setNo dated announcement exists
The maintenance is the Puppet updateDescribed as preparation work, not that update
Codes are currently redeemableCannot be verified while the game is unjoinable
Rumored fixes are already liveDiscussed work is not the same as shipped patch notes

Backend activity has been visible from the outside, including bursts of file updates and developer or tester entry into the closed experience. That confirms people are working. It does not translate into a reopening schedule, and it should not be read as a countdown.

What is confirmed content versus what is still upcoming

If the game reopens on its last shipped build, the roster is already known. Three killers are released: The Rotten, The Project, and The Doppelganger. The Project was renamed The Prototype in a later balance pass, part of a broader renaming effort applied to killers and map assets.

Match maps are Pizzeria, Warehouse, and The Forest, with the Lobby acting as the safe hub between rounds. Survivor classes cover Customer, Medic, Security Guard, Fighter, and Technician. The Marionette and Monroe’s Costume Emporium are listed as upcoming and have not been released, and no date has been attached to either.

The realistic read is straightforward. Bite by Night is offline, the developer is active and working through backend changes, announcements were promised before a reopen date was, and the game page remains the only place where a return will be provable rather than rumored.
