The Nerd Challenge in BitLife wants you to build a specific kind of life. You start out in Texas, end up in glasses, join both the Science Club and the Dungeons and Dragons Club during school, and finish as a computer programmer. Five tasks, no paid packs required, though a couple of them come down to timing and luck.
Quick answer: Create a character in a Texas city, deliberately fail the optometrist’s eye exam to get glasses, join the Science Club and D&D Club from the School activities menu, then graduate university with a Computer Science or Information Systems degree and take a Computer Programmer job.

The five Nerd Challenge tasks
| Task | What you need to do |
|---|---|
| Be born in Texas | Start a new life in a Texas city such as Houston, Dallas, or Austin. |
| Wear glasses | Fail the eye exam when your parents send you to an optometrist. |
| Join the Science Club | Find and join it from the School activities menu. |
| Join the Dungeons and Dragons Club | Find and join it from the same activities menu. |
| Become a computer programmer | Graduate with a Computer Science or Information Systems degree, then get hired. |
None of these steps are locked behind a premium feature, so you can clear the whole thing on a free account. The club steps are the only real gamble, since BitLife doesn’t show every activity at every school.

Add to Google Preferences →Be born in Texas
This is the step that trips people up, because Texas is not a choice on its own. You pick a country first, then a city, and the city has to sit inside Texas.

Tip: If you have paid features, set your character’s Smarts high. It isn’t required here, but strong Smarts makes the university and programmer steps far smoother later.
Wear glasses
Glasses come from a scripted event rather than a menu, so this step is mostly a waiting game. Keep aging up and your parents will eventually notice your eyesight and book an optometrist appointment. This often lands around age 15, but the exact year varies from life to life.
Join the Science Club and Dungeons and Dragons Club
Both clubs live in the same place once your character reaches middle school. Open School, tap your current school, then open the Activities menu. You’ll see a spread of options like Drama Club, Dance Club, the Science Club, and the Dungeons and Dragons Club.
Here’s the catch. BitLife doesn’t list every club at every school, so the one you need may simply be missing. If it isn’t there, age up a year or two and check the menu again, since clubs can appear later. You can also wait until you move up to the next school and check its activities, and keep repeating that through high school and university until both options show. Some players restart the character entirely to reroll the available clubs, which is faster if you get an unlucky school.
Become a computer programmer
The final task hinges on your degree. To qualify for the Computer Programmer role, you need to graduate from university with a major in Computer Science or Information Systems. Keeping Smarts high makes getting through university straightforward.
How to confirm the challenge is complete
Each objective ticks off in the Challenges menu the moment you meet its condition, so you can open that screen at any point to see which of the five are already marked done. Being born in Texas registers as soon as your life starts, and the D&D and Science Club tasks flip the instant you join. Once both clubs are joined and you’re hired as a Computer Programmer, the fifth check clears and the Nerd Challenge is finished, unlocking its cosmetic reward.
The Nerd Challenge went live on Aug 08 and runs for seven days, closing on Aug 15, which leaves plenty of time to reroll clubs or restart a life if luck isn’t on your side. Since none of the five steps require a paid pack, the only thing standing between you and the reward is patience with the club menu and a bit of scrolling through job listings.
