Black Reaper (Kaneki) in Sailor Piece: Full Unlock Path

Black Reaper is the new Kaneki-themed melee fighting style added to Sailor Piece in the Ghoul Update. It lives on Isolation Island in Sea 2, and the only way to obtain it is to clear the Blood Flower quest, farm Reaper Keys from Ghoul Member NPCs, summon and defeat the Black Reaper boss across difficulties, and then buy the style from the unlock NPC.

⚔️
Quick answer: Reach Sea 2, collect all 6 Blood Flowers to unlock Isolation Island, farm Reaper Keys from Ghoul Members, beat the Black Reaper boss enough times to gather its materials, then purchase the Black Reaper melee from the unlock NPC.

Requirements before you start

The entire unlock chain happens in Sea 2, so you cannot touch any of it from the first sea. You also need a working damage loadout because the Black Reaper boss scales hard at higher difficulties.

RequirementWhy it matters
Sea 2 unlockedIsolation Island, Ghoul Members, and the Blood Flower NPC only exist in Sea 2.
Blood Flower quest completedSole method to open the Isolation Island teleport.
Luck build (titles, runes, accessories)Reaper Keys drop at a 0.1% base rate from Ghoul Members.
Fast-hitting weaponAuto-skill farming with something like Gilgamesh V drastically cuts farm time.
Strong damage buildBlack Reaper boss HP ranges from ~50B (Normal) to ~800B (Extreme).

Step 1: Complete the Blood Flower quest

The Blood Flower questline is a single mission added in the Ghoul Update. You pick it up from the quest-giver NPC standing on a mountain cliff at the far end of Starter Island in Sea 2. Talk to them, then track down all six Blood Flowers hidden across Sea 2 islands.

IslandBlood Flower location
Starter IslandBehind the tall mountain to the left of the portal, around the middle of its back face.
World IslandBeneath the tree behind the Tower NPC, close to the shoreline.
Bizarre IslandBehind the broken side of the colosseum, between the two adjacent mountains.
Punch IslandOn top of the building next to the mountains holding the Angel Halo, then drop behind it.
Blue PlanetBehind the mountain near the Empyrean (Goku) Trainer.
Slayer IslandUp the mountain to the right of the houses at the far end of the island, under a green tree.

Once all six are picked up, Isolation Island unlocks as a fast-travel destination. You will see it as a new option in the teleport menu.

Step 2: Farm Reaper Keys on Isolation Island

Reaper Keys are legendary drops that only come from Ghoul Member NPCs on Isolation Island. They are tied to the level 18,500 quest route and roll at a base 0.1% chance, so luck stacking matters more here than for almost any other key in the game.

Step 1: Teleport to Isolation Island and locate the Ghoul Member spawn zone where the mobs cluster together.

Step 2: Equip your strongest luck setup. Stack luck titles, luck runes, and any accessories that boost legendary drop chance. The base rate is brutal without them.

Step 3: Turn on auto-skill with a fast-hitting weapon. Gilgamesh V is the standard pick because its hit rate clears Ghoul Members continuously while you AFK farm.

Step 4: Stockpile keys before summoning. Higher difficulty summons consume more keys per attempt, so building a buffer saves trips back to the island.

🎯
Tip: The Reaper Key drop is gated behind reaching the relevant quest level on Isolation Island. If keys aren't dropping at all, confirm you are on the correct quest stage rather than blaming RNG.

Step 3: Summon and defeat the Black Reaper boss

Reaper Keys have exactly one use, which is summoning the Black Reaper boss at the Black Reaper Summoner on Isolation Island. Each difficulty costs more keys and multiplies the boss HP, but also raises the drop rates for the materials you need to buy the melee.

DifficultyReaper KeysBoss HP
Normal1~49.9B
Medium2~99.9B
Hard3~299.9B
Extreme4~799.9B

Drops scale by difficulty. The relevant items for the Black Reaper melee unlock are Black Shard, Reaper Remnant, Rinkaku Core, Ghoul Outfit, and Ghoul Essence. Extreme has the best rates across the board, but Normal is the cheapest way to chip through pity if you are low on keys.

DropNormalMediumHardExtreme
Black Shard5%6.25%8%10%
Reaper Remnant1.75%2%2.5%3.25%
Rinkaku Core0.48%0.55%0.70%1%
Ghoul Outfit0.30%0.45%0.60%0.75%
Ghoul Essence0.19%0.22%0.30%0.45%
One Eyed King title0.75%0.9%1.15%1.4%

The One Eyed King title has a 125 kill pity, so even on the worst rolls, you are guaranteed it within 125 successful clears. Materials do not share that pity, so keep difficulty as high as your build can comfortably solo or co-op.

Step 4: Buy the Black Reaper melee

You don't get Black Reaper as a direct drop. After farming the boss, head to the Black Reaper unlock NPC on Isolation Island and trade in the required materials to permanently add the melee fighting style to your character. The melee is the Kaneki "Black Reaper" set the community has been calling the Kaneki spec.

You will know it worked when the style appears in your fighting styles menu and can be equipped directly without re-buying. Failing to unlock usually comes down to one of three things: missing one of the five materials, not having the One Eyed King title equipped if the NPC requires it, or attempting the purchase before completing Blood Flower (which prevents teleport access in the first place).

Two loadouts matter here. One for farming Reaper Keys, one for killing the boss.

PurposeWhat to use
Reaper Key farmingMax luck titles and runes, Gilgamesh V on auto-skill, AFK at Ghoul Member spawn.
Black Reaper boss fightsBest damage build available. Reaper race (if unlocked) stacks +105% damage, +35% sword damage, and +25% execute damage for faster clears.
Co-op clears on Hard/ExtremeGroup up to handle the higher HP pools and split material drops across difficulties.

If you are still building toward the unlock and want to roll race or clan upgrades on the way, redeem any current Sailor Piece codes through the in-game menu for free rerolls and beli.

📝
Note: The Reaper race (a Secret race from the Soul Harvester questline on Slayer Island) and the Black Reaper melee are two separate unlocks. Both are themed around reapers, but the race comes from evolving Wraith, while the melee comes from the Ghoul Update boss on Isolation Island.

Common reasons the unlock fails

  • Isolation Island teleport is missing because not all six Blood Flowers were picked up.
  • Reaper Keys aren't dropping because the player hasn't hit the required quest stage on Isolation Island.
  • Boss summon is greyed out because the difficulty's Reaper Key cost isn't met.
  • Black Reaper purchase fails because at least one of the five materials (Black Shard, Reaper Remnant, Rinkaku Core, Ghoul Outfit, Ghoul Essence) is still missing.

Work the chain in order, run Extreme summons whenever your build allows, and the full Black Reaper unlock typically resolves in a single focused grind session once Isolation Island is open.
