Blackbird Build in Neverness to Everness: Best Arc, Cartridge, and Teams

Everything you need to gear Blackbird as a Psyche carry or off-field enabler, from her signature Arc to crit targets and rotations.

Everything you need to gear Blackbird as a Psyche carry or off-field enabler, from her signature Arc to crit targets and rotations.

In Neverness to Everness, Blackbird is an S-Rank Psyche character whose Gas Arc kit adapts to the team’s needs. She can deal damage on-field, contribute coordinated attacks as an off-field sub-DPS, or support allies with CRIT DMG and ATK buffs. Build around CRIT to make her a carry; stack Cycle Intensity instead to drive reactions in Nova and Stain teams.

Quick answer: Run Crime and Punishment with the Devil’s Blood: Curse cartridge, main-stat CRIT DMG, prioritize CRIT Rate then CRIT DMG in substats, and pair her with Lacrimosa, Daffodil, and Sakiri.

Best Arc for Blackbird

Her signature Arc is the top choice for nearly every role. For a pure sub-DPS beside Chaos, however, an ATK-oriented alternative edges it out slightly.

ArcRarityKey statsBest use
Crime and PunishmentS-rank570 ATK / 24% CRIT RateBest in slot, most roles
Good Boy’s Grand AdventureS-rank474 ATK / 45% ATKSub-DPS next to Chaos
Ravenous BladeS-rank570 ATK / 24% CRIT RateStat stick only
Watch Your Heads!A-rank475 ATK / 40% CRIT DMGBudget starter

Crime and Punishment is the Arc to pursue: its passive provides 72 Cycle Intensity and increases Psyche DMG by 20%. After Blackbird uses her Ultimate, the team receives 16% CRIT DMG for 15 seconds, and she gets an additional 32%. Either part of the Ultimate can activate this effect, and she can use about two Ultimates per rotation, keeping the buff up for almost the whole fight. Its high base attack also strengthens her Nova enhancement, which records part of the damage dealt to a target.

Good Boy’s Grand Adventure is the sub-DPS pick. Blackbird loses personal damage here, but the 18% Charge Efficiency lets her Ultimate more often, and the Arc’s team-wide 10% attack buff stacks with the buff her own Ultimate already provides. That combination edges out the alternatives in a Chaos-led lineup.

Ravenous Blade matches her signature Arc’s base stats and adds 16% CRIT Rate. Its CRIT DMG stacks depend on Incantation hits, a damage type Blackbird cannot deal, so she gets only the weapon’s raw stats. This Arc may push her CRIT Rate past the cap, making other substats the priority.

Watch Your Heads! makes the best early-game pick, offering 475 attack and 40% CRIT DMG. Set the cartridge main stat to CRIT Rate to reach the cap.

Cartridge and console setup

Blackbird has one clear cartridge choice, tailored to her Psyche damage and reaction-based kit.

Set2-piece4-piece
Devil’s Blood: CursePsyche DMG +10%DMG +18%, or +36% vs Nova/Stain
Speedy HedgehogCharge Efficiency +12%All allies ATK +15% for 20s after Ultimate

Devil’s Blood: Curse is the default. Blackbird’s teams reliably apply Stain through Psyche and Lakshana pairings, or Nova through Psyche and Chaos pairings, so the 36% condition is active during her main damage windows. If you’d rather build her purely as a support, Speedy Hedgehog swaps the personal damage for extra charge and a team-wide attack buff on every Ultimate.

Her console adds 8% CRIT Rate per equipped Type III module. Devil’s Blood: Curse has two Type III modules, giving 16%; adding two more to complete the layout raises the console bonus to 32%. Speedy Hedgehog consists entirely of Type III modules and can bring the bonus to 48%, but sacrifices a large amount of damage. With so much CRIT Rate coming from the console, the standard setup uses CRIT DMG as the cartridge main stat and gets CRIT Rate from other sources.

Main stats, substats, and crit targets

  • Bonus module: Type III — CRIT DMG
  • Main stat: CRIT DMG, with Psyche DMG% as a valid alternative
  • Substat order: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > DMG% > ATK%
  • Full-support build: swap the offensive substats for Cycle Intensity

With Crime and Punishment or Ravenous Blade, target about 89–96% CRIT Rate and 166–180% CRIT DMG for endgame. If your Arc has no CRIT Rate, aim for 65–72% CRIT Rate while keeping the same CRIT DMG. Watch Your Heads! is the exception: a CRIT Rate main stat is worthwhile, bringing you close to 95–100% CRIT Rate.

For a build devoted to enabling reactions, skip the CRIT spread and put everything into Cycle Intensity to maximize Nova damage. This approach remains effective because her signature Arc provides a substantial amount of Cycle Intensity.

Skill and awakening priority

Level her abilities in this order: Ultimate > Skill > Basic Attack > Support Skill. Her Ultimate carries both her transformation burst and the team buffs, so it always comes first.

For awakenings, the three priority nodes are A1 Deserter, A6 Death and Life, and A3 Blindness. A DPS Blackbird follows A1 > A6 > A3 > A5 > A4 > A2, since those nodes raise her Malice-spending damage and Deathflame Passage multiplier. A support build flips to A4 > A5 > A1 > A6 > A3 > A2, leaning into the longer Ultimate attack buff and the resistance shred.

Best teams for Blackbird

Blackbird’s Instant Cycle trait makes her a fast reaction trigger, so she fits both Nova and Stain squads. She can fill a support slot or head a team designed around her; the lineups below keep her rotation flowing.

Nova teams

Nova, an Esper Cycle, unleashes a heavy burst every five seconds. During that burst, Blackbird’s passive logs part of the damage the target takes and then reapplies Nova to deal extra Mental damage. Lacrimosa is her strongest partner, triggering Nova with Blackbird faster than any other character; together, they can cycle repeatedly to activate the passive. Daffodil handles sub-DPS duties, and Sakiri provides support.

For a stronger burst, the premium setup brings in Zankou and Linko. Start with Linko, switch to Zankou to trigger Hexed, then move to Lacrimosa for Scorch. Bring in Blackbird next and use her Skill before her Ultimate. Return to Lacrimosa to set off Nova and Discord simultaneously, then add her Skill and Ultimate to the burst. Linko follows with her Skill and Ultimate in quick succession; finally, put Zankou on-field to absorb every debuff while Blackbird continues recording Nova.

Allow five seconds or more between Nova activations so each Esper Cycle can detonate. Build Blackbird for damage in these squads: she supplies the hits during Lacrimosa’s Skill and Ultimate cooldowns.

Chaos and Stain teams

Blackbird addresses a longstanding weakness in Chaos’s kit: he must trigger two reactions but lacks an Instant Cycle. She provides the missing trigger, so the rest of the roster no longer has to compensate for him. Pair her with Chaos and Hathor plus a flex support, or use the Stain composition of Chaos, Hathor, and Zero.

In a Stain squad, Blackbird instantly fills her Esper gauge and triggers Stain alongside Chaos; Esper Zero can do likewise, letting Stain and Remora activate with minimal setup. Strengthen Remora with buffs from Chaos and Hathor, add Blackbird’s Stain reaction, then leave Chaos on-field to take advantage of enemies receiving increased Lakshana damage.

Free-to-play option

For a budget team, use the Nova lineup but swap Lacrimosa out for Daffodil. Her damage is slightly lower, yet she remains capable in endgame content. Equip Haniel with the Speedy Hedgehog cartridge set to buff the team and raise its attack, while Fadia drains the enemy’s max HP. Neither has to take the field to enhance Nova, though bringing them in to use Skills and Ultimates is still beneficial.

Rotation and how to confirm the build works

Blackbird builds Malice through attacks, then spends it on extra damage in Witch of Deliverance form. Her core rotation is brief and involves frequent swaps.

Switch Blackbird onto the field, use Netherplume Rite to gain Malice, and then swap her out.
Bring her back with her Ultimate, Requies Animarum, to transform, then perform all five hits of Pyreflame.
Follow with the now-unlocked Deathflame Passage redirect, swap away, then return for her exit Ultimate and another Pyreflame string.

Check that using her Skill applies the Forsaken Feather mark, then make sure allied hits call in the Forsaken Bird coordinated attack. While her Ultimate is active, confirm Devil’s Blood: Curse’s 4-piece effect is working on enemies with Nova or Stain. Once these interactions are functioning, her Psyche damage scales as intended, and Crime and Punishment’s teamwide CRIT DMG buff should appear on your other characters immediately after each Ultimate.
