Awakened Bosses are upgraded versions of First Sea bosses, added through the Island Secrets system in Update 30. Every hour, one boss has a chance to awaken on your server, and there is no map marker telling you which one. The information lives with a single NPC in Middle Town.
Quick answer: Go to Middle Town in the First Sea, enter the large central building behind The Saw’s spawn area, climb to the second floor, and talk to the Secrets Master. Pick the “Which boss stirs next?” dialogue option to see the queued awakened boss and its timer.

Add to Google Preferences →Reading the “Which boss stirs next?” response
Select “Which boss stirs next?” from the dialogue list. The other options are flavor lines about Middle Town and the NPC himself, and they never mention boss activity. When a boss is queued on your server, this option names it and can show a countdown to the event.
If the response is “Nothing is stirring right now. Even the monsters need a rest,” no awakened boss is queued on that server at that moment.
Timing matters. Awakened bosses roll once an hour, and the Secrets Master is most useful in the last ten minutes of the hour, when the upcoming boss is already decided. Checking at the start of an hour often returns nothing useful.
Note: awakening is server-specific. Two players in different servers can get completely different answers at the same minute, so hopping servers and re-checking the NPC is a legitimate way to find an active boss faster.
First Sea awakened boss triggers by island
Knowing the boss is only half the job. Once the Secrets Master names one, fly to that island and complete its activation step. Three of the four require you to break or cook something first.
| Awakened Boss | Island | What activates it |
|---|---|---|
| Awakened Gorilla King | Jungle | Appears on a chance roll during the hourly window at the Gorilla King’s clearing; no object trigger needed |
| Awakened Chef | Pirate Village | Use the cauldron on the top floor of the Tavern, add any Fish plus Yeti Fur, then press Cook |
| Awakened Yeti | Frozen Village | Destroy all three green snowballs near the Yeti’s spawn; each one lights a torch |
| Awakened Magma Admiral | Magma Village | Destroy every lava pocket attached to the volcano |
The Chef is the exception to the whole routine. Because you build the trigger yourself in the Tavern cauldron, you do not need the Secrets Master to announce it first.
How to confirm the awakened boss has spawned
Each trigger gives a visible confirmation, so you never have to guess whether it worked. At Frozen Village, the three torches around the Yeti’s spawn light up one by one as you break the snowballs, and the boss appears when the third is burning. Two lit torches is not enough.
At Magma Village, the Awakened Magma Admiral only shows up after the final lava pocket on the volcano is gone. Missing a single pocket somewhere on the rock face keeps the boss from appearing at all, so sweep the whole volcano before assuming the timer was wrong.
At Pirate Village, the Chef arrives once the cooking process in the cauldron finishes with the correct ingredients inside.
Claiming the Island Secret reward after the kill
Killing the boss does not close out the secret on its own. Return to the Pirate Adventurer or Quest Giver NPC on that same island and interact with them to finish the process.
Completing an awakened boss secret awards one Island Secret star, plus Stat Points, Money, EXP, and Gems. Defeating an Awakened Boss also grants a free roll at the awakened boss spinner. Each First Sea island holds up to three Island Secret stars, and the First Sea system contains 40 Island Secrets in total, with progress feeding into the island teleporters.
Why the awakened boss is not appearing
If you reached the island and nothing spawned, the cause is almost always one of these.
- You are at the wrong island. Re-check the Secrets Master and travel to the exact one he named.
- The trigger is incomplete. All three snowballs for the Yeti, every lava pocket for the Magma Admiral.
- The cauldron recipe is wrong. The Chef needs any Fish plus Yeti Fur, followed by Cook.
- Nothing is queued on your server. Switch servers and speak to the Secrets Master again.
The most efficient habit is checking the Secrets Master every time you load into a new server, especially near the end of the hour. That one stop tells you whether the server is worth staying on, instead of camping an island and hoping a boss wakes up.
