Borderlands 4: LT Harmony Final Boss Fight and the Spare or Kill Choice

How both phases of the Providence finale work, what the mercy prompt changes, and how to farm her afterward.

How both phases of the Providence finale work, what the mercy prompt changes, and how to farm her afterward.

Lieutenant Harmony closes out FL4K and the Last Resort, the second Story Pack for Borderlands 4. She is the Tediore officer running the occupation of Providence, and the fight against her happens at the end of the mission “The Rescue,” inside the volcano bunker at Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2. The encounter runs in two phases and ends with a prompt that lets you finish her or walk away.

Quick answer: Beat Harmony’s second phase, then pick up the Manager Hand on the ground to spare her, or shoot or melee her body or head to kill her. Both outcomes drop identical loot, and the decision cannot be undone on that save.

Before you drop into the arena

The approach to the boss room is the last quiet moment you get. There is a Tediore vending machine on the platform above the arena, so top off ammo there before committing. The objective panel will show two tasks, “Kill LT Harmony” and “Rescue FL4K,” and the second one stays locked until the fight is over.

Entry is a one-way drop. Once you jump down, you are standing on a platform surrounded by lava, and the arena floor is where most of the damage comes from later. Elemental weapons carry the fight well here; an elemental SMG is enough for the opening phase.

Phase 1: Lieutenant Harmony

Harmony opens on foot, introduced with the title card “Your Number One Fan.” This is the shorter half of the encounter and plays like a standard humanoid boss duel: keep moving around the platform, stay off the edges, and chip her health down with sustained elemental fire.

The phase ends on a scripted beat rather than a health gate you can skip. Harmony uploads the FL4K AI into her own frame and transforms into a giant robotic body called Harmony Discordant.

Phase 2: Harmony Discordant attacks and counters

The second phase is where the fight gets dangerous. Discordant is a much larger target, so hitting her is rarely the problem; surviving the floor is. She layers three threats that punish standing still.

AttackHow to handle it
Lava pillars erupting from the arena floorWatch the ground telegraphs and keep repositioning; do not park in one spot to shoot
Digital clones of FL4K’s petsClear them quickly so they do not pin you while pillars are spawning
Electric area-of-effect burstsBreak line of sight or move outside the radius rather than trying to tank it

Keep the same elemental weapon on her body while circling. When her health runs out, Discordant is downed and the frame collapses onto the platform, which is your cue to approach on foot.

Spare or kill LT Harmony: exact inputs and what changes

Walk up to the downed boss and the game offers a “Spare LT Harmony” prompt. The two outcomes are decided by what you interact with:

  • She is spared if you pick up the Manager Hand near her before firing.
  • She is killed if you shoot or punch her anywhere on the body or head instead.

Nothing mechanical hinges on the choice. The rewards are the same either way, so you are not trading away Legendary or Pearlescent drops by showing mercy. The only difference is the ending beat: spare her and she stands up, delivers a short awkward farewell, and teleports out. Kill her and that scene never plays.

Note: the prompt is a one-time thing. There is no way to reverse it after the fact, and repeat runs of the encounter do not offer the spare option again.

Finishing The Rescue after the boss dies

Sweep the arena for the boss drops before you leave. Loot that falls near the platform is easy to miss once you start moving toward the exit.
Head for the control room. The quest tracker switches to “Rescue FL4K” and points you through the rest of the FOB.

Open the chests in the control room on your way past. They sit right next to the objective, so there is no reason to skip them.

Interact with the console to release FL4K. A cutscene plays in which FL4K is freed and reunites with Mr. Chew, followed by a second scene where FL4K’s other pets appear and Mr. Chew chooses to stay with them.

Travel to The Upper Crust and speak to FL4K to turn in the mission. You know it registered when the “Talk to FL4K” objective clears and the Main Mission Complete banner appears along with the mission XP payout.

Farming LT Harmony for Legendary and Pearlescent drops

The fight is repeatable. Fast travel back to Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2 and use the Moxxi’s Encore station sitting right beside the fast travel point to rerun the encounter as many times as you want. Every rerun is a straight kill, since the mercy prompt only exists on your first clear.

FL4K and the Last Resort adds two Pearlescent weapons and 18 pieces of Legendary gear across the pack, plus a Legendary class mod for each Vault Hunter, so Harmony is a reasonable stop on a farming loop once you have finished Providence. Whether you left her alive is purely a story detail at that point.
