Borderlands 4: Where to Find the Scalding Geysers in The Furious Earth

All four geyser sites across Pyroclast Field and Vinechoked Canopy, and exactly what clears each one.

All four geyser sites across Pyroclast Field and Vinechoked Canopy, and exactly what clears each one.

The Furious Earth is a world event on Providence Island, and its opening objective sends you hunting for scalding geysers with no count and no obvious route. There are four of them, split across two regions, and each one stays active until you kill what comes out of it.

Quick answer: Track The Furious Earth from the Providence Island map, then clear two geysers in Pyroclast Field and two in Vinechoked Canopy by killing the elemental enemies — mainly the Volcanus beasts — that spawn at each vent.

Scalding geyser locations on Providence Island

The event does not reveal all four vents at once. It feeds you one waypoint at a time, so open the map after every clear to pick up the next orange diamond marker. Both region pairs are far enough apart that a vehicle saves real time, especially inside Pyroclast Field.

How to clear a scalding geyser

Every vent works the same way. There is no switch to hit and nothing to interact with — the geyser plugs itself once the enemies it produced are dead.

Open the Providence Island map and select The Furious Earth so the event becomes your active tracker. The HUD then drops an orange diamond on the nearest geyser.
Drive or run to the marker. The objective flips from the general geyser hunt to a specific Clear geyser prompt once you are inside the vent’s area.

Kill the wave that erupts from the vent. Volcanus beasts are the ones that matter — they spawn directly out of the geyser and keep it open until they are down.

Sweep the rest of the elemental enemies that joined the fight, grab any loot they drop, then reopen the map for the next waypoint.

How to tell a geyser is actually plugged

Confirmation is on the objective tracker, not on the geyser model. The Clear geyser line disappears, the event counter ticks over, and the orange diamond jumps to the next vent. If the marker is still sitting on top of you, something in that wave is still alive.

Note: the two Pyroclast Field vents are the first pair the event hands you, so if your next marker points into Vinechoked Canopy, you are already halfway through.

Why the objective stalls

  • A Volcanus is still alive somewhere around the vent — they burrow out of the geyser itself and can end up behind you or below the ledge you are standing on.
  • The event is not the tracked mission, so no waypoint appears at all. Reselect The Furious Earth from the map.
  • You walked out of the geyser’s area mid-fight, which leaves the wave unfinished. Return to the marker and clear it before travelling on.

Not the same as the petrified geyser in Coastal Bonescape

There is a second, unrelated geyser task early in the Fadefields. In the Hangover Helper side mission, Ole Shammy sends you east of his shack to a petrified geyser that you open with a ground slam, then you grapple a red nugget out of the debris while ignoring the grey ones. The follow-up mission Brew-ha-ha reuses that same vent with a coloured-nugget order and a six-minute timer.

None of that applies here. Scalding geysers involve no ground slams, no grappling and no collectibles — they are pure combat objectives tied to The Furious Earth on Providence Island.

Once the fourth vent goes quiet in Vinechoked Canopy, the event rolls straight into its next objective, so collect the loot on the ground before you fast travel anywhere.
