Money in Build Your Backrooms comes almost entirely from your monsters catching Visitors as they walk through your maze. The trick to earning fast is not building a bigger maze. It is forcing every Visitor into your strongest monster inside your highest-multiplier room, then squeezing more monsters onto the plot than the game normally lets you.
Quick answer: Place your best monster in your highest-multiplier room (Red Pool, Entity Nest, or Mirror Hall) right next to the Visitor spawn so NPCs are captured instantly, and use a zigzag one-way path to push your monster slots from 4 to 6. Then block the exit so Visitors stay trapped with your monsters.

How money is earned from monster captures
Every time one of your monsters catches a Visitor, you get paid. The size of that payout is decided by the multiplier of the plot where the capture happens, not by how many rooms you own. A weak monster in a cheap corridor pays a few hundred dollars. The same Visitor caught in a top-tier room can pay hundreds of thousands.
That is why layout matters more than size. Two mazes with identical monsters can earn wildly different amounts depending on where the capture lands.
| Phase | Setup | Payout per capture |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | Monsters spread across the maze on low plots | ~$300 to $900 |
| Endgame | Strongest monster on a high-multiplier plot near the entrance | ~$35,000 to $1,000,000+ |

Do not give Visitors choices. If they can wander into low-value rooms, some of your income leaks away. Use L-shaped corridors and narrow routes to force a single path that leads straight to your strongest multiplier room.
Put your best monster in that room and place it as close to the Visitor spawn as possible. Capturing Visitors immediately inside a Red Pool or Mirror Hall pays far more than letting them drift deeper into cheaper sections. A common beginner mistake is scattering strong monsters everywhere. Concentrate them instead.
Note: Every room must stay connected to the main entrance. Disconnected buildings get no Visitor traffic, so any monster placed inside an isolated section earns nothing. Double-check connectivity before you expand.
| Phase | Monster | Room pairing |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Smiler | Yellow T Junction, Yellow Corridors |
| Mid | Crawler | Electrical Room, Ventilation Room, Shallow Pool |
| Mid to late | Siren Lamp / Hotel Keeper | Old Lobby, Snack Room, Neon Corridor, Arcade Turn |
| Late | Red Watcher | Red Pool, Fake Exit, Entity Nest |

The monster slot glitch: run 6 monsters instead of 4
Your normal monster limit is tied to your rebirth capacity. A layout trick lets you exceed it by connecting expensive rooms to a zigzag, one-way path so the game hands you extra monster slots, then trapping Visitors in that closed loop for rapid, near-automated payouts.

You know the glitch worked when the on-screen prompt reads HEY! Monster Slots 4->6 Got,it! and your slot counter holds at 6 after the exit is blocked. This is an unintended interaction and could be patched at any time.
Fast early cash: visit other mazes
Before your own maze is strong, entering another player’s maze pays both you and the owner. The entry reward can be collected every 30 seconds, so repeatedly hopping between mazes is one of the quickest early income sources.
Stay close to the walls while you explore. Monsters often struggle to pathfind near edges, which keeps you alive longer and lets you collect more rewards per run.

Rebirth and smart spending to scale income
Rebirthing is the main progression system. Each rebirth unlocks stronger rooms, better monsters, and permanent income boosts that raise your ceiling. Rebirth as soon as you meet the requirements, since the gains compound.
Every rebirth asks for a set number of placed buildings. Rather than filling your maze with costly rooms, buy large numbers of the cheapest option, such as Yellow Crossroads, to hit the building count for a fraction of the price. That leaves more cash for plot expansions and stronger monsters. Later rebirths also demand steep cash sums, with Rebirth 5 and 6 eventually reaching $9 million or more.
| Rebirth | Key building unlocks | Monster unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Electrical Room, Ventilation Room, Alarm Corridor | Hound, Crawler |
| 2 | Steam Room, Drainage Crossroad, Shallow Pool | Siren Lamp, Water Dweller |
| 3 | Hotel Corridor, Old Lobby, Hotel Service Hall | Hotel Keeper |
| 4 | Neon Corridor, Arcade Turn, Mirror Hall | Mimic |
| 5 | Dark Corridor, Fake Exit, Entity Nest | Glitch Entity |
| 6 | Red Pool | Red Watcher |
Two more habits keep your income climbing. Buy rare, high-tier rooms the moment they appear in the shop, since the restock system can rotate them out, and skip purely decorative pieces like the Alarm Corridor that do not raise capture value. If you plan to play long-term, the Double Cash Pass doubles the rewards from high-tier captures, and its value grows sharply once you reach areas like the Red Pool and Dark Corridor.
For a free head start, join the developer’s Roblox group and like the game. Doing so grants a free monster scaled to your current rebirth level, which is a meaningful boost early on. Combine that with a tightly funneled maze, the slot glitch, and frequent rebirths, and your per-Visitor payouts move from a few hundred dollars into the millions.
