Burrow Sorrows is a short side quest tucked into the Rockfalls area of the Boarback Trail region, on the western side of the map. A distressed Sanzhana calls out near a cave mouth, asks Coen to drive kobolds out of her home, and sends him after a charm she says is sacred. The fight is straightforward, the loot is better than the quest length suggests, and the ending is a small twist rather than a moral choice.
Quick answer: Speak to the Sanzhana near the burrow entrance, clear both waves of kobolds inside, take the glowing charm from the altar, then hand it back outside — she lets you keep it as the Sunbringer’s Amulet.
Burrow Sorrows quest info and rewards
Nothing about this quest is missable, and it does not lock behind a boss or a story beat. It sits under the Letters to Lunka questline, but failing to save your family will not remove it from your journal. It runs during the day and at night, and it costs 2 time segments in total.

The quest marker sits in the forest between Wormwood and Rockfall. There is no NPC to prompt it from a village — you have to physically get close to the cave. Shapeshifting into wolf form makes the run over shorter, since the approach is mostly open woodland.

As you close in, Coen hears a strange sound and the objective “Investigate the curious sound” appears. Follow it to the burrow entrance and the Sanzhana will be waiting a short distance away.

Loot inside the burrow: Slicer’s Ring stats
The chest is the real reason to run this quest. It contains a legendary ring built almost entirely around claw combat, which makes it a night-form item rather than something you swap in for sword fights. Names on legendary accessories can differ between playthroughs, so check the chest contents rather than hunting for one specific label.
| Slicer’s Ring | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity / level | Legendary Ring, Level 23 |
| Claw Critical Hit Chance | +9% |
| Claw Critical Hit Damage | +13.5% |
| Claw Damage | +11.4% |
| Activation Charge from Attack | +27% |
| Weight / value | 0.10 / 366 |
Also in the cave are a Golden Brooch, Vials of Human Blood, Denarius, a Broken Sword, a Razor, a Chain, Torn Clothes, and herbs including Ribwort Plantain, St. John’s Wort, and Green Gilded Mushroom.
Sunbringer’s Amulet reward and how to confirm the quest finished
The Sanzhana is guaranteed to let you keep the charm. Once the conversation ends, the “Quest Ended” notification appears for Burrow Sorrows, you gain XP, and the charm converts into an equippable amulet in your inventory. If you do not see the completion banner, the charm was likely handed over before both kobold waves were dealt with — return inside and finish the clear.

| Sunbringer’s Pendant | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity / level | Superior Amulet, Level 23 |
| Damage against Supernatural Enemies | +5.8% |
| Blood Drinking Restoration | +0% |
| Weight / value | 0.10 / 42 |
Note: the amulet trades a little defence for that supernatural damage bonus, showing small reductions to magical and physical damage reduction against your baseline. It is worth equipping when you are heading into fights with supernatural enemies and worth swapping out otherwise.
Two time segments for a legendary claw ring, a Superior amulet, and a bit of kobold lore is a reasonable trade in a game where the clock is the real enemy. If you are already sweeping the western side of the map for Court activities, the detour barely registers.
