Caretakers Explained: The Roblox Analog Horror Survival Game

How a full match plays out, from facility tasks and the roaming entity to the blast-door escape.

Caretakers is a multiplayer analog horror game on Roblox where a small team drops into a dark industrial facility, works through a set of assigned objectives, and tries to reach the exit while an animatronic entity stalks the halls. It is a team survival experience built around cooperation: finishing tasks shortens the path to escape, and getting caught is survivable only if a teammate reaches you in time.

Quick answer: Complete every task listed at the top-left of the screen, survive the entity until the timer reaches zero, then follow the red floor arrows to the blast doors before the escape window closes.

The game is in an open test phase and labels itself as still subject to change. It runs a Survival Mode now, with a Story Mode Chapter 1 planned. The facility is tiled with checker-pattern walls and connected by pneumatic doors and low wall vents, and a match begins with your objectives displayed and a warning that something is already walking the halls.

Tasks that open the exit

Each match assigns a mix of objectives, shown as counters like Restore Comms 0/2 or Turn The Valves 0/2. The tasks are scattered across the map, and every one you finish brings the exit closer. They repeat across runs but the exact combination and the locations vary, so the same facility plays differently each time.

Restore Comms

Communications are fixed at wall-mounted radar terminals. Each terminal is a five-channel puzzle: you rotate interconnected circular nodes until every connection links up and turns green. Completing a full terminal advances the Restore Comms counter by one.

Turn The Valves

Valves are large red pipe wheels. Interacting with one starts an arrow-matching mini-game where you press the left or right directional arrow that matches the on-screen cue. Clearing the prompts turns the valve and ticks the counter up.

Unlock Safes & Collect Documents

Safes carry a sticky note with a four-digit passcode. Enter that code on the keypad and the safe opens to a confidential document you pick up. The codes are specific to each safe, such as 5684 and 2723 seen in one run, and they come from the note attached to the safe rather than a fixed value.

Repair The Breakers

Breaker repairs appear during a random blackout. The lights cut out and an announcement calls for two breaker boxes to be fixed. At each panel you wire matching colored terminals together to restore power. This event interrupts whatever else you were doing, so it tends to split the team’s attention while the entity is still active.

Other task variants

Different runs surface other objectives. Stabilize Pressure uses a ventilation panel where you time clicks on the green VENT zone of a gauge. Find The Tapes sends you hunting for VHS cassettes left on desks, crates, and tables. A Gas leak can trigger mid-match, flashing a warning to shut off three glowing chemical tanks. These sit alongside the core tasks rather than replacing them.

The caretaker entity and the downed state

An animatronic creature patrols the facility and hunts survivors. The game’s advice is simple: stay quiet and out of its sight. If it catches you, a jumpscare plays and you drop into a Downed state, crawling slowly with a 45-second bleed-out timer counting against you.

Being downed is not a loss on its own. You can keep crawling toward safety, and a teammate can interact with you to revive you back to full health before the bleed-out timer runs out. Revives come with a visible healing effect, and each one is worth cash to the player who performs it.

The low wall vents are a reliable way to break line of sight, since you can crawl through them to move between rooms and leave the entity behind.

Escaping the facility

Once all assigned tasks are done, a short survival timer runs down before the way out opens. When it hits zero the main blast doors unlock and a 60-second escape window begins, marked by red illuminated chevron arrows glowing on the floor that point the route to the exit. You know the run is over when the results screen appears, tallying time survived, tasks completed, times downed, and revives.

Only players who finished their tasks and reach an exit in time get out. The game is blunt about the stakes for anyone still inside when the window closes, which is why the final survival timer and the escape run are as tense as the task phase.

Cash, gears, and perks

Every objective and every escape pays out cash, which carries over to the shop. Gears are tools you bring into a match, and perks change how you play; both are bought in the shop and then equipped into your loadout before a run. Reviving teammates and surviving to the end add to your total, so there is a reward for staying engaged rather than hiding.

ActionReward
Restored Comms+$70
Turned Valve+$60
Unlocked Safe+$50
Revived teammate+$75
Fixed Breaker+$20
Found Tape+$20
Shut Off Gas Tank+$20

A clean run that clears six tasks, pulls off a few revives, and escapes can total several hundred in cash from a single match. That money is the loop that feeds back into gear and perks, which in turn make the next facility a little easier to survive. With multiple maps, hidden secrets, and a story mode on the way, the survival loop is the foundation the rest of Caretakers is being built on.
