Every Grimoire in Clover Time comes from one place, the Grimoire Tower. Every roll there costs Mana Crystals. The game’s random odds make a Mythical book unlikely on any single pull, but the tower’s pity system guarantees higher rarities after a fixed number of rolls. Getting a top Grimoire comes down to two things: knowing exactly where those guarantees sit, and keeping a steady supply of crystals so you can reach them.
Quick answer: Use Mana Crystals to roll at the Grimoire Tower. The Your Guarantees panel lists an Epic at roll 35, a Legendary at 70, a Mythic at 175, and a Secret at 840.
Grimoire Tower pity thresholds and odds
The tower shows two panels next to the roller. Tower Chances lists the base odds for each rarity. Your Guarantees tracks your progress toward each pity cap. On build v0.12.72, the numbers look like this:
| Rarity | Base chance per roll | Pity guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| Secret | 1 in 1,031 | 840 rolls |
| Mythic | 1 in 179 | 175 rolls |
| Legendary | 1 in 70 | 70 rolls |
| Epic | 1 in 35 | 35 rolls |
| Rare | 1 in 7 | None |
| Uncommon | 1 in 3 | None |
| Common | 1 in 2 | None |
The Mythic guarantee is the number that matters most. A 1-in-179 base chance means most players will land Anti Magic through pity rather than luck. The guarantee kicks in at 175 rolls, four rolls before the base odds would suggest a hit on average. Each counter climbs separately. For example, a “13 / 175” Mythic readout sits alongside “13 / 70” for Legendary and “13 / 35” for Epic.
The developer’s Grimoire Tower card lists pity in crystals spent (50 for Epic, 100 for Legendary, 250 for Mythic). It also says some subscriptions cut pity by 30 percent. Clover Time is still in beta and these values have changed before, so treat the Your Guarantees panel in your own session as the final word.
How pity carries over across rarities, or after you log off, is not documented. Keep your own count alongside the in-game counter.

Add to Google Preferences →How a Grimoire roll works at the tower
The tutorial sends new players to the Grimoire Tower near the start, with no level gate before your first roll. Your opening chest chain gives you a Mana Crystal for that pull. Follow the tower icon on your compass to find the roller. Inside, all available Grimoires are displayed with their rarity labels.

A pull costs one Mana Crystal. Your crystal total appears in the interface, which deducts one for each roll. A brief cutscene plays before you receive the book. Its glow reveals the rarity before you check your inventory: purple indicates an Epic, blue a Rare, and white a Common.
Spins are a separate currency and do nothing at the tower. They reroll Race, Social Class, and Traits at the Hage Village church or through the Customize menu. Yuls don’t buy Grimoire rolls either.
Best Grimoires to target in Clover Time
Grimoire strength in Clover Time tracks rarity closely. That makes pity thresholds a practical shopping list.
| Grimoire | Rarity | Reached via |
|---|---|---|
| Anti Magic | Mythic | 175-roll pity |
| Shadow | Not published | Added in Update 1.0 |
| Battle Lightning | Legendary | 70-roll pity |
| Poison | Epic | 35-roll pity |
| Explosive Flame | Epic | 35-roll pity |
Anti Magic is the only Mythic book with a published rarity. It handles both area and single-target damage well. Its awakening adds a new move set, but the demonic form requires the Devil race. If you plan to run it long term, budget Spins for a race reroll as well.
Shadow arrived with Update 1.0 on October 10, 2026. It hits as hard as Anti Magic, but its rarity and roll rules haven’t been published. That means there’s no confirmed pity route to it yet.
Poison is the strongest Epic for PvE. Because the Epic guarantee resets every 35 rolls, it’s the most realistic strong book for players who aren’t yet close to Mythic pity. Battle Lightning is serviceable, but it currently has no usable awakening.
Halloween Update Part 1 carries an October 17 start date. It announces one new Mythical, one Legendary, and one Epic Grimoire, none of them named yet. Once those books land, a Mythic pity hit may no longer mean Anti Magic every time.
Fast Mana Crystal sources
A Mythic guarantee needs a lot of crystals, so the real work is keeping several income streams running at once. You can hold up to 50 Mana Crystals at a time. That cap was raised from 1 on October 14, 2026, which finally makes banking toward a threshold possible.
| Source | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Crafting bench | 1 crystal from 10 fragments plus potatoes |
| Fishing | Fragments, mainly from Golden Marlin |
| Big Chest | 6.7% for 1–7 crystals; 8.3% for 5–25 fragments |
| Medium Chest | 0.38% for crystals; 3.1% for 5–10 fragments |
| Normal Chest | 1.68% for 1–2 fragments |
| Mana Wolf boss | 5% for 1–2 fragments |
| Index milestones | 5 crystals at 40 items; 15 at 75 items |
| Map spawns | Crystals and fragments that appear over time |
| Codes, weekly and playtime rewards | Crystals, bait, or chests |
Fishing and crafting
Fishing is the most consistent pipeline. Buy a rod, equip bait, and fish any body of water. Keep every Golden Marlin, since it converts into Mana Crystal Fragments. Sell lesser catches for Yuls to restock bait. Legendary Bait from codes speeds up rare catches.
Bring fragments to a crafting bench. Ten fragments plus potatoes produce one crystal in about 20 seconds. The potato count varies between one and five depending on the recipe shown at your bench. Haj Bandits drop two potatoes each, and every map’s large crystal spawn has a bench next to it. Axes and pickaxes gather wood and ore for the rest of the crafting tree, so don’t sell materials you’ll need later.
Chests and map spawns
Chests reward map knowledge over gear. Big Chests are the only regular chest with a meaningful chance of dropping full crystals. Run short circuits around villages, and use the broom (H) to sweep ridges and side paths off the main roads. The teleport NPC Finral cuts travel between hubs. He charges Yuls per trip, ranging from ¥1,000 to ¥1,750 out of Nairn Village, unless you own the Pass Teleporter, which makes every trip free.

Map spawns are easy to miss without help. The Mana Compass and the one-hour Crystal Notifier both mark where crystals come down, so you can head straight for them instead of searching blind.
Codes and recurring rewards
Some codes grant Crystal Mana directly. Most current codes require level 75 and membership in the AnimeCore Studio group before they redeem. Weekly progress and playtime rewards also pay out crystals, and the game flags these with a banner such as “10 minute playtime reward is ready to claim!” Claim them before you start grinding.
Rolling toward Mythic pity without wasting crystals
You’ll know a roll counted when your crystal total drops by one and the Your Guarantees counters each tick up. You’ll know a guarantee paid out when the matching rarity glow appears and its counter resets. Drawing your first Mythic also unlocks the Mythic Touched achievement, worth +10% Luck.
Grimoire storage limit
Without extra storage, you can hold two Grimoires, one equipped and one in your bag. Rolling a third forces you to drop one of them. The Robux-only Grimoire Bag, priced at 469 R$, raises the limit to two copies of each Grimoire.
Dropped books can disappear for good. Players have lost freshly rolled Legendaries this way. Make room before a long session rather than in the middle of one.
Once you land a book worth keeping, equip it from your inventory and test its moves in a safe zone before taking on bosses. Ranges, cooldowns, and area coverage vary a lot between Grimoires. Then go back to quests and chest routes so crystals keep coming in for your next attempt at a higher rarity.
