Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23rd, 2026. For most players, it is a near-clean slate. Weapons, Operators, camos, and Blueprints from Black Ops 7 and earlier games stay behind in Multiplayer and DMZ. Warzone works differently. It keeps most of your older collection when it moves to the Modern Warfare 4 era with Season 1, but with new limits on what you can do with it.
Quick answer: Modern Warfare 4 brings over COD Points, Double XP Tokens, Beta cosmetics, and its pre-order items. Warzone also keeps legacy Operators, weapons, and Blueprints, but drops legacy camos.

Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone Carry Forward Comparison
Each mode has its own rules. The table below shows where each type of content ends up.
| Content | Modern Warfare 4 | Warzone (Season 1) |
|---|---|---|
| COD Points | Yes (same platform) | Yes (same platform) |
| Double XP Tokens | Yes | Yes |
| MW4 Beta rewards | Yes (cosmetics only) | — |
| Hunter Killer Operator Skin | Yes (pre-order) | — |
| Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin Camos | Yes (pre-order + BO7 challenge) | — |
| Legacy Operators and Operator Skins | No | Yes |
| Legacy weapons | No | Yes (five-attachment preset) |
| Weapon Blueprints | No | Yes (fixed setups) |
| Legacy camos | No | No |
For Warzone, “legacy” means content from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7. A dash means that item category has no separate Warzone carry-over rule.

Infinity Ward’s new game does not share a core arsenal with Black Ops 7. Everyone starts with zero weapons, Operators, and weapon progress. Only a short list of items comes with you.
- Double XP Tokens saved in Black Ops 7 or Warzone. This includes Level, Weapon, and Battle Pass tokens.
- COD Points, the premium currency.
- Beta rewards, meaning the cosmetics and secret unlocks you earned in the Modern Warfare 4 Beta. Beta rank and weapon levels were reset.
- Hunter Killer Operator Skin, a bonus for pre-ordering Modern Warfare 4.
- Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin Camos, universal camos tied to the Modern Warfare 4 pre-order and a Black Ops 7 challenge.
Double XP Tokens now count down only while you are in a match. Time spent in menus no longer uses them up. Because every player starts Modern Warfare 4 from scratch, saving your tokens until launch gives you more value than spending them in Black Ops 7 now.
COD Points stay on the platform where you bought them. Xbox points stay on Xbox, and Battle.net points stay on Battle.net. If you switch platforms, your old balance will not show in the new storefront, but you can still spend it through the Call of Duty web store.

Warzone Legacy Weapons and Blueprints in Season 1
Warzone moves to the Modern Warfare 4 era with Season 1 on November 6. Your older weapons come along, but they get separate rules from the new guns.
- Every weapon from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 appears in a Legacy tab in the Loadout menu.
- Gunsmith does not work on legacy weapons or legacy Blueprints.
- Your old Custom Loadouts for those weapons are not supported.
- Each legacy base weapon gets a preset build with five attachments, which you unlock through the Armory.
- Legacy Blueprints keep their existing attachments and work as fixed builds.
Activision says the goal is a weapon meta “distinctly rooted in Modern Warfare 4” while older guns stay available. In practice, only Modern Warfare 4 weapons can be fully customized. Your old builds are still usable, but you cannot change them. Raven Software plans to keep balancing the Modern Warfare 4 weapons every two weeks.

Legacy Operators and the Warzone Operator Skin Toggle
Operators and Operator Skins from the same four games stay usable in Warzone. Season 1 also adds an Operator Skin toggle. It only exists in Warzone, and it lets each player decide whether to see crossover skins at all.
Enabling the option makes every Operator from another Call of Duty title display as a Modern Warfare 4 Operator on your screen. Opponents, party members, and squadmates all appear this way in lobbies and matches. Your selected Operator remains unchanged for you. It affects only your view and starts off by default.
This works in both directions. Your Black Ops 7 skin will still show in Warzone, but anyone with the toggle on will see you as a standard Modern Warfare 4 Operator. The toggle is all-or-nothing, so you cannot choose to hide only certain skins.

Content That Does Not Carry Forward
In Warzone, legacy camos are the only major category you lose. Weapon camos unlocked in Black Ops 7 or earlier games, including mastery camos, will not appear in the new Warzone. Activision’s first announcement said camos would carry over. It later corrected that statement and listed only Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapon Blueprints as legacy cosmetics that remain.
In Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer and DMZ, the list of excluded content is much longer. Everything not in the short list above stays behind. That includes older weapons and their progress, Blueprints, unlocked camos, and every Operator except Hunter Killer. These items remain available in the games where you earned or bought them.

How to Check Your Carry Forward Items
On launch day, check the available tokens screen in Modern Warfare 4. Your saved Level, Weapon, and Battle Pass tokens should be listed there, and your COD Points balance should match the one on the same platform. Once Season 1 starts in Warzone, look for the Legacy tab in the Loadout menu. That is where your older weapons and their fixed Blueprints are kept. The Operator Skin toggle is also available from that point, but you have to turn it on yourself.
