Power Upgrade chests are how you push Dylan’s Power beyond what the story hands you, and most of them are reachable long before you finish the campaign. There are 21 Power Upgrade Points scattered across Manhattan, split between seven regions. Every three you collect translate into a real jump in strength, which is usually enough to break through a fight or a boss that has stalled your progress.
Quick answer: Collect any three Power Upgrade Points to raise Dylan’s Power by one meaningful step. All 21 are grouped by region in the tables and lists below.

Power Upgrade chests in Downtown
Downtown holds five chests, and it is the first region open to free exploration once the opening hours are behind you.
- #1 Resonant Ruins: once the open world unlocks, head back to where you fought The Artist.
- #2 Construction site south of the Oldest House: after eliminating all enemies, use the platforms along the perimeter to descend to the lowest floor.
- #3 West Supply Route Station: from Downtown, go through the airlock into West Supply Route Station, then search the landing past the first flight of stairs.
- #4 Deserted Area in eastern Downtown: go into the construction site, reach the bottom, follow the sewer pipe to a Testing Facility, and solve the puzzle to open the final room.
- #5 Interactions Lab: during The House In Distress main quest, take the southwest room of the main laboratory where the test dummies stand.
Power Upgrade chests in Central
Central also carries five chests, and several of them sit behind doors that only open once you route power to them.
- #6 Supply Route tunnels: take the door to the left of the lower entrance and power it to get inside.
- #7 Central FBC Testing Facility: complete the puzzle so every light turns green; the chest waits behind the shutter door that opens.
- #8 Patterned Factory: in northeastern Central, find the chest in the upstairs office on the south side; its door requires power supplied from outside.
- #9 R&C Storage room: after earning the Level 2 Keycard during Evacuation Procedures, return to the Field Office and open the room beneath the Security Station.
- #10 Watchtower: after coming back from Unknown, visit Zoe for the Zoe’s Briefing quest; the chest sits near her.
Doors that stay sealed usually need power fed from a nearby Power Core or access point, so look outside the room before assuming a chest is unreachable.
Power Upgrade chests in the Evacuation Zone
Three chests are tied to the southern Evacuation Zone and the Sinkhole underneath it.
- #11 Testing Facility: in the southern part of the zone, solve the Pearl Station puzzle and enter the room that opens.
- #12 Sinkhole: drop through the laundromat and inspect the doorway immediately to your left.
- #13 Sinkhole sewer area: once Recursions and Iterations takes you to the bottom, enter the sewer-like area; the chest sits in the first room, which has two doors.
Power Upgrade chests in the West Incursion Zone
The West Incursion Zone is defined by gravity-broken streets and a large chasm you cross on the route to the Dancer. Two chests are found here.
- #14 House of Mirrors: head inside and search the reception area to the left of the main entrance.
- #15 Testing Facility Broadway: The Unsupervised Science side quest brings you here: solve the puzzle west of the zone, beside a pizza place that lies southeast of the “Singing Reported?” marker.
Power Upgrade chests in The Park
The Park has two chests, one tucked in an abandoned checkpoint and one gated behind a side quest.
- #16 Abandoned checkpoint: from Nomad Avenue Station, go northwest to the abandoned checkpoint. Enter it and follow the passage to its dead end.
- #17 Underhill’s Lab: the New Growth side quest unlocks this area once you have returned from the Underpass.
Power Upgrade chests in The Underpass
Two chests are found in the Underpass, both reached during traversal and a side quest.
- #18 After the cable car: once you cross the chasm and land on the far side, look immediately to your left.
- #19 Oldest House remnants: while doing the Maintenance Protocol side quest, climb the stairs and enter the first room on your right.
Power Upgrade chests in Unknown
The final two chests are in Unknown, a late region you reach deeper into the story.
- #20 Factory Island: on the island west of the central one, locate the warehouse with the SHUM cabinet. The target room is across from the room containing the arcade machine.
- #21 West of the Field Office: go west from the Field Office; at the building at the route’s end, leap over the nearby gap, then look immediately beyond it for the chest.
Each chest you open adds a Power Upgrade Point to your total. Once you bank three of them, your Power moves up a full step, so it is worth sweeping a region’s chests before you tackle the fight that stopped you. Prioritize the Downtown and Central sets early, since most of those become reachable long before the late-game regions open up.
