Control Resonant Downtown Mysterious Dog and Toy Location (Every Dog Has Her Day)

The Mysterious Dog in Downtown is the first stop in the “Every Dog Has Her Day” side story in Control Resonant, and it is the encounter most players trip over early. The task is small but exact. Find the dog on a rooftop, retrieve her missing toy from a nearby roof, and drop it into her empty bed. Doing so opens the side story and hands you a Source reward once you pet her.

Quick answer: Reach the rooftop terrace marked “DOG” in Downtown 3, grab the green dinosaur plush from the adjacent lower roof to the northeast, drop it in the dog bed, then press L1 to pet her for +100 Source.

Downtown Mysterious Dog location

In southwestern Downtown 3, the dog is on an elevated rooftop terrace beside an empty dog bed and an outdoor couch. For the quickest route, begin outside the Oldest House and follow the main road away from Central, using Shift when necessary. At the point where the street ends at the void, ascend the buildings on your right and continue to the building with a small garden patio.

When you get close, the dog’s location appears on the map as a marker labeled “Location of the Mysterious Dog.” You will also hear her whimper as you approach, which helps you pin down the exact rooftop.

How to complete the Downtown dog encounter

Walk up to the dog on the rooftop patio and speak to her. Dylan’s dialogue makes it clear she is not hurt, but she wants something to play with.

Face the dog and look to the adjacent lower rooftop to the northeast, marked by a Chowtrap advertisement board. Jump and air-dash across the alley gap to land on it.

Collect the green dinosaur plush toy from the mat just outside the rooftop access door. Dylan will hold it in his hands.

Jump back across the gap to the dog’s terrace. Stand over the empty dog bed and press the Drop Object button to place the toy neatly inside.

Press L1 to pet the dog. This closes out the interaction and awards the Downtown Source bonus.

The Reach ability cannot be used while carrying the toy, so plan the return trip around vaulting ledges, air dashing, and Shift instead.

Rewards and how to confirm it worked

Placing the toy in the bed triggers a “New Quest” pop-up for NOTES: EVERY DOG HAS HER DAY, along with a +1 Undefined Reading notification. Opening the Quest Log confirms the objective “Find and Help the Mysterious Dog” is marked complete, with a note that you found and helped the dog in Downtown.

Downtown is only one of seven Mysterious Dog encounters across Manhattan. Finding and helping the dog in every region completes “Every Dog Has Her Day” and unlocks the Dog’s Best Friend trophy, but the Downtown dog is the ideal starting point since her toy sits on the roof right beside her.
