In Control Resonant, Health Upgrade chests increase Dylan’s maximum health, an important advantage early on when Hiss Heavies and bosses can defeat him in only a few hits. Each chest contains one Health Upgrade Point, and collecting three permanently expands the health bar. They are found in Manhattan shops, laundromats, rooftops, and concealed basements; approaching one adds its location to your map.
Quick answer: There are 26 Health Upgrade chests spread across seven areas. You can start collecting them after the Artist boss fight, and every three points collected increases your maximum health.
A Health Upgrade Point registers the moment you open its chest, and the point counter updates on screen, showing your progress toward the next three-point milestone. Watch for that counter to confirm a chest counted.
How many Health Upgrade chests are in each area
The chests are split unevenly between Manhattan’s zones. Central holds the most, while the Underpass and Unknown carry only two each. Use the breakdown below to plan a cleanup sweep, since every zone stays accessible after the story.

Downtown Health Upgrade chest locations
- Urban Fresh Mart: From the Oldest House, follow the street north to the dead end and enter the Urban Fresh Mart on the west side. Check the third ice machine inside.
- Vendor’s Alley: South of the Oldest House, find the narrow alley with a Vendor. The point sits right beside them.
- Downtown Rooftop: Check the buildings southeast of the Oldest House; one rooftop contains the chest.
- Eastern Downtown Edge: Head to the far south of eastern Downtown, right at the boundary of the playable map, on a floating platform that needs some platforming to reach.
- Atlantis Cafe: After unlocking Shift, go to the northern Oldest House area and enter the Atlantis Cafe. Solve the appliance puzzle, then drop into the basement.
Central Health Upgrade chest locations
- Supply Route Subway Station: Once you have passed through the Supply Route tunnels, go up the stairs and halt at the green-lit double doors. Enter the room to the left to find the chest.
- Urban Fresh Mart: Visit the Urban Fresh Mart on the Verconn building’s west side, close to the Field Office. The chest is inside the store.
- Patterned Factory Vendor: Move south from the Patterned Factory on the map’s eastern side until you reach a Vendor. The point is next to them.
- Central Laundromat: East of the Field Office, destroy the three Hiss Nodes to open the door, then solve the washing machine puzzle to reach the basement.
- Patterned Factory Tunnels: Heading toward the Central Resonant, take the left route after the first fight in the second tunnel, follow it to the tent area, then drop down and check the right side of the room.
- Power Lines, Platform B: Once you reach Platform B during the Power Lines mission, use the staircase. In the room to your right, take the power source, then open the door on your left. The chest is next to a Calibration Unit and an audiolog.
Evacuation Zone Health Upgrade chest locations
- Evacuation Checkpoint: Find the Vendor east of the checkpoint. The chest sits directly behind them.
- Konstig Art Gallery: From the Vendor, go southwest to the gallery, complete its puzzle, then search the basement.
- Evacuation Building: While completing Evacuation Procedures, reach the scaffolding and go back indoors. The first room you enter contains the chest.
West Incursion Zone Health Upgrade chest locations
- House of Mirrors Vendor: Go north-northwest of the House of Mirrors and restore power to the lift. The chest sits beside the Vendor’s truck.
- Urban Mart: On the road south of the House of Mirrors, enter the Urban Mart, solve the soda machine puzzle, and check the side room in the basement.
- West Incursion Zone Subway: During the West Incursion Zone Resonant mission, enter the subway station, go downstairs, and check the shop on the right near the checkpoint (the Empire Avenue Station).
- Parking Garage Fault: Descend through the hole in the Parking Garage all the way to the Fault, then leave via the route on the lowest level. You pass the chest while using Shift to escape the incursion pit.
The Park Health Upgrade chest locations
- The Park Checkpoint: Before going into the subway tunnels, inspect the area beside the entrance on The Park side of the checkpoint linking The Park and the Evacuation Zone.
- Atlantis Cafe: Near the Research Site in southern The Park, complete the Atlantis Cafe coffee order puzzle to unlock the basement. The chest is in the room on the left.
- FBC Base Car Park: Head to the car park northeast of the FBC Base and climb the mold on its northern side to the roof. The chest sits near a Vendor.
- Park Resonant Path: Follow the route toward the Park Resonant and look around its midpoint for the chest.
The Park Resonant chest can be added to your map only if you attain zone level 5 before unlocking the door. If you do not, it remains in an area without map coverage and must be located by searching.
Underpass Health Upgrade chest locations
- Vendor near the start: When the level begins, start climbing and watch for the Vendor icon on your mini-map. The chest is immediately beside the Vendor.
- Underpass Resonant: Ascend the spire in the direction of the Astral Plane. Before you leap over the gap toward the second Astral Key, collect the chest on the side nearest you.
Unknown Health Upgrade chest locations
- Unknown Gym: On the central island of Unknown, head northeast to the upside-down gym and solve the Secret Organization gym puzzle to open the basement.
- Unknown Northeast Island Vendor: From the main Unknown island, head northeast to the smaller island. The chest is immediately behind the Island Vendor.
Collecting all 26 leaves you with a much larger health bar, which makes the final hours of the game far more forgiving. Since nothing here is missable and every zone stays open after the credits, you can return for any chest you skipped on a first run.
