New Game Plus in CONTROL Resonant lets you replay Dylan Faden’s story on a fresh save while keeping almost everything you built in combat. It is available from launch, so the moment the campaign ends you can roll into a harder run without touching your completed file. The trade-off is simple: your fighting power comes with you, but the world, its gates, and the quest order start over.
Quick answer: Clear the final quest, The End, and view its epilogue. Then go into the Gap, use the Hedron drawing on the abilities mural, and choose Yes. Your new run starts in its own save slot.
How to start New Game Plus in CONTROL Resonant
You won’t see this option until the main story is complete. Finish the last quest, The End, then view the epilogue to make it available. Starting over creates a separate save file and leaves your post-credits save untouched.
You know it worked when a new, separately labeled NG+ save loads into the opening, while your completed file remains in its own slot. You can switch back to that finished save at any time to mop up leftover content.

Nearly all of your combat investment travels with Dylan. That means you can immediately equip skills and builds you skipped on the first run, and you keep the raw materials to keep crafting in the Gap.
| Progress | NG+ result |
|---|---|
| Aberrant forms and upgrades | Carries over |
| Talent tree progress (incl. unspent points) | Carries over |
| Combat abilities (incl. unspent Resonant Tokens) | Carries over |
| Max Health and Max Power | Carries over |
| Zone levels and rewards | Carries over |
| Source and crafting materials | Carries over |
| Artifacts | Carries over |
| Outfits and cosmetics | Carries over |
| Archives, achievements, Shum III scores | Carries over |
One optional carryover depends on timing. The mysterious dog pet comes with you into NG+ only if you finish the Every Dog Has Her Day objective before completing the game on your current save.
What resets on the second run
Anything tied to story progression is wiped so the campaign plays out in its intended order. The map fog returns, and zones have to be cleared again.
- Main and side quest progress, replayed from the start
- Traversal abilities (Reach and Shift), unlocked again one by one
- Story items, map kits, and Dylan Sketchbook instances
- Open world crates, ability barriers, and secret hideout puzzles
- Clearance Level 1, 2, 6, and SR keys
- World events, FBC tasks, fast travel doors, and Dylan’s apartment
Rewards you already earned from secrets stay in your inventory even though the secrets themselves reset.
Why traversal abilities reset
Movement abilities are what let you reach certain parts of Manhattan’s zones. If you kept them from the start, you could skip intended gates and disrupt quest triggers, which is why combat power carries over but traversal abilities must be rebuilt. In practice, NG+ doesn’t give you immediate free-roam access for cleanup. You must regain the relevant movement tools before each gated location becomes accessible, so collectible hunters shouldn’t expect the entire map to be open on day one.
What is new in New Game Plus
NG+ offers more than a tougher challenge. Since one playthrough won’t unlock your full arsenal, a second gives you a chance to complete builds that weren’t possible the first time around.
- Your capacity increases from three to a fourth Artifact slot, making room for more elaborate passive setups and their trade-offs
- Additional Talent nodes expand how abilities pair with Aberrant attacks
- Abilities earned by defeating the same boss can be equipped together, opening up combinations unavailable on the first run
- Enemies start at higher baseline levels with more aggressive AI and greater shield resistance
- Some bosses gain new behaviors that demand different tactics
The difficulty spike usually becomes clear in the regions farther ahead. An additional Artifact slot can relieve some pressure and let you tune a specialized build around Falter pressure or direct damage. A return trip restores World Quests and bounties, lets you seek collectibles you missed, and reveals alternate outcomes in certain side stories and conversations.
The one-run limit and the New Game Plus Plus fix
At launch, New Game Plus lets you replay the story just once with your accumulated progression. Remedy has recognized the restriction and intends to remove it in a New Game Plus Plus update, letting you continue from one NG+ run into another without losing your build. Remedy has even said players could choose to complete 665 runs. No specific date is confirmed beyond the October 2026 window, while a separate Photo Mode is planned for November.
Before activating the mural, complete any first-run objective whose outcome you want to retain, and keep your completed save. Later replays make it much easier to finish every zone because resetting an area brings back its secrets, world events, and other content.
