To finish the chapter and earn the badge, you fill out the Criminal Investigation Report with four correct answers, and the clues that back them up are spread across bedrooms, an office safe, the dining room, and a hidden passage.

The report opens with case number 1999-0501-0145, dated 05/30/1999, at Moreau Mansion – Library Wing. Four of its questions must be answered correctly. The fifth question, which asks who else should be investigated, can be left blank.

Prove the motive: blackmail and the will
The motive comes from a chain of documents that show Lucien Moreau was under financial pressure and stood to lose his inheritance. Collect these before touching the report.

Confirm the killer and the first witness
Lucien Moreau is the killer, and Luzinete is the person who discovered the body first. Luzinete’s dossier confirms she reached the scene before anyone else, which answers the witness question.
With the motive documents and the dossier reviewed, you can enter Blackmail, Lucien, and Luzinete on the report. The final answer, the entry method, requires one more section of the mansion.
Open the secret passage for the entry method
The killer entered the library through a hidden passage behind the office bookshelf. Reaching it takes two steps, since the passage button only works after you restore power from the outdoor shed.
With the passage open, enter Secret passage as the fourth answer.
Submit and confirm the chapter is complete
Once all four fields read Blackmail, Lucien, Luzinete, and Secret passage, press Submit Report. You know it worked when the case closes, and the game awards the “Chapter 2 – Charles’ Case” badge.
If submission fails, the usual cause is an unread clue or a mismatched answer. Make sure you opened the safe with 1200, read both wills, and actually opened the bookshelf passage, since the entry-method answer depends on activating the shed power box first.
