Waxwell, the purple candle Toon added to Dandy’s World on August 7th, 2026, is not a straight cash purchase. Before you can buy him from Dandy’s Store, the game locks the PURCHASE button behind two progress requirements you build up across runs, plus a lump sum of currency you need in hand at the moment of purchase.
Quick answer: Reach 50% Research on Twisted Waxwell, complete 3 Mastery Quests on Goob, and have 3,500 Ichor saved. Once all three are done, Waxwell becomes purchasable in Dandy’s Store.
Waxwell unlock requirements in Dandy’s World
All three conditions must be satisfied at once. Two of them are grind-based and carry over between runs, while the Ichor is only checked when you press purchase.

Reach 50% Research on Twisted Waxwell
Note: During chases, Twisted Waxwell leaves a burning trail on the floor. Stepping on it inflicts a burn that drains your health over time, and both he and the fire become much harder to see during blackouts. Take wider turns instead of following his exact path.
Complete 3 Mastery Quests on Goob
The second requirement ties to Goob. Open Goob’s Mastery objectives and finish any three of them. You do not have to clear his full Mastery track; only three completed quests count toward Waxwell’s unlock.
Work these alongside your Research runs. Since you are already playing floors to find Twisted Waxwell, progressing Goob’s quests in the same sessions saves time.
Save 3,500 Ichor
The final requirement is 3,500 Ichor ready to spend. The unlock needs the full amount at once, so running short here is the most common reason people stall at the last step.
Try not to spend Ichor on other purchases while you work toward Waxwell. If you are below 3,500, keep completing runs and collecting Ichor until you hit the total, then head to the store.
Buying Waxwell and confirming the unlock
Open Dandy’s Store, choose BUY TOON LICENSES, and select Waxwell. While any requirement is unmet, his PURCHASE button stays greyed out and the Required box shows your progress, such as 50% Research at 0/50 or Complete 3 Mastery Quests on Goob at 0/3.
You know it worked when the three requirement lines all read as complete and the purchase button becomes active for the 3,500 Ichor cost. After buying, Waxwell appears in your Toon roster and can be selected before a run. If the button is still locked, the cause is one of three things.
- Twisted Waxwell Research is still below 50%.
- Fewer than three Goob Mastery Quests are marked complete.
- You have less than 3,500 Ichor at the moment of purchase.
What Waxwell’s Ignite ability does
Waxwell has a single active ability, Ignite, and it is built to support teammates rather than himself. Activating it lights his flame, clears his Tired debuff for 10 seconds, and lays a flame trail as he moves. Any Toon who touches that trail gains the Ignited buff.

Two limits shape how you use it. The Ignited cooldown boost does not apply to Waxwell himself, and the buff does not stack, so running a teammate through several trails or crossing the same patch repeatedly gives no extra benefit. With a 60-second recharge and a 5-second buff window, activate Ignite when teammates are close enough to actually step through the trail.
Rarity and unlock method
Waxwell sits in the Rare tier, not Legendary or Mythic, despite being one of the newer Toons. If you come across guidance framing him as a random pull from the standard Toon pool, disregard it. There are no drop-rate odds for him. The Research, Goob Mastery, and Ichor checklist is the actual route, so build those requirements out and he is yours to bring into runs.
