Dave the Diver: In the Jungle – All Fish and Where to Catch Them

Every fish across Utara Lake, the Lakebed Sea, and fishing spots, plus the conditions that make the rare ones appear.

Every fish across Utara Lake, the Lakebed Sea, and fishing spots, plus the conditions that make the rare ones appear.

The In the Jungle expansion swaps the Blue Hole for Utara, a freshwater lake beside a remote jungle village, and fills it with roughly 82 new creatures to catch. They sit across four groups in the Marincabloom app on Dave’s phone, which becomes available once you meet Sato in the village. The four groups are Utara Lake – Upper, Utara Lake – Lower, the Lakebed Sea beneath the lake, and a separate set you only reel in with a fishing rod.

Quick answer: Catch standard fish with the harpoon gun or net, put larger hostile fish to sleep and extract them with the drone, and unlock the machete during the main quest to reach gated areas like Surga Falls. A handful of fish only appear after specific quests or after you clean the lower lake.

Utara Lake – Upper (0-35m) fish list

This is the shallow zone you explore first. Most entries are standard fish you can take with the harpoon gun, a net, or by putting them to sleep. The exceptions are the larger predators and the quest-locked catches, which are flagged below.

The machete is the key that opens up parts of this zone. You get it by progressing the main quest just before entering the jungle, and it also unlocks the Surga Falls area used later for fishing.

Utara Lake – Lower (35-75m) fish list

The deeper zone holds bigger, tougher targets. Several large predators need the Jungle Gun or a sleep-and-extract approach with the drone. A few only show up after you complete certain tasks, which the notes call out.

Note: the order here is deliberate. Beating the Giant Snapping Turtle in Sato’s quest is what brings the Fire Eel into the Sunang Ruins, so plan that fight before you go hunting for the eel.

Lakebed Sea fish list

Below the lake sits a sea full of ancient, prehistoric-looking creatures. This is where the expansion’s main-quest bosses live, with Stethacanthus, Xiphactinus, and Basilosaurus all tied to the story.

Fishing rod catches (Surga Falls and Setah Forest)

The last group is reeled in with a fishing rod rather than caught while diving. These fish split between two spots, with gourami types around Surga Falls and a mix of snakeheads, bass, and catfish at Setah Forest. At any fishing spot, press the button in the bottom-left of the screen to see which fish are available there.

To confirm a catch counted, open the Marincabloom app and check the matching section, since a filled-in entry marks the species as recorded. If a fish never appears, it is almost always because a gate is still locked. The machete opens the vine-blocked area for Pirarucu and the path to Surga Falls, cleaning the lower lake brings out the Sockeye Salmon, and defeating the Giant Snapping Turtle in Sato’s quest is what makes the Fire Eel show up in the Sunang Ruins.
