The full count, the chapters out now, and what the in-game menu confirms about the rest.

Deltarune is built as an episodic role-playing game, with the story broken into separate Chapters that each center on a different Dark World and its main villain. The question of how big the whole thing gets has a firm answer baked into the game itself.

Quick answer: Deltarune is planned to have seven Chapters in total. Five are playable right now, and two more (Chapters 6 and 7) remain unreleased with no titles announced.

Seven Chapters total, confirmed by Toby Fox

The seven-Chapter plan comes straight from creator Toby Fox, and the figure is reflected in the in-game Chapter Select screen. Once you buy Deltarune, every future Chapter arrives as a free update, so the seven-Chapter total does not carry extra cost beyond the base purchase. Chapters 1 and 2 also remain free to play through the demo.

Every Deltarune Chapter and its release date

Five Chapters have shipped so far. Each one ties to a specific Dark World and antagonist, and the first five each hide a Shadow Crystal boss and other secret content. Here is where things stand.

Chapters 1 and 2 launched as free releases. Chapters 3 and 4 arrived together as the first paid package alongside the game’s full launch, and Chapter 5 followed afterward.

What’s left: Chapters 6 and 7

The remaining two Chapters appear on the Chapter Select screen as empty entries with placeholder icons and no titles. There is no confirmed release window for either one. Earlier Chapters arrived years apart, so the cadence between releases has not been steady, and no official next date has been announced for Chapter 6 or 7.

The “11 chapters” rumor and the Chapter 8, 9, 10 files

You may have seen claims that the game files point to more than seven Chapters. Unused assets inside Deltarune do reference Chapters numbered 8, 9, and 10, including placeholder entries and icon graphics that resemble the unreleased Chapter icons. These do not show up in normal play and are generally treated as development placeholders or leftovers from early testing, not evidence of additional planned Chapters. The confirmed total remains seven.

How progress carries between Chapters

The Chapters are not standalone episodes. Each one continues the story from the last, and your choices, inventory, equipment, and Dark Dollars carry over through Completion FILEs. Recruits transfer forward, too, and talking to certain characters can change their dialogue in later Chapters. That continuity is why the seven-Chapter structure matters as a single ongoing story rather than seven separate games.

So the short version holds: seven Chapters are planned, five are out, and two are still on the way without a set date.
