Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Complete A Halloween Invasion

A Halloween Invasion kicks off Oogie Boogie’s arrival in Disney Dreamlight Valley as part of the free Season of Scares update. It sends you through a mirror portal in Scrooge McDuck’s Store, into a pickaxe mini-game, and then out across the Valley to clean up the chaos a cursed Lucky Wheel unleashes. It is the first of six weekly quests, and finishing the whole chain makes Oogie Boogie a permanent villager.

Quick answer: Speak with Scrooge, go through the Strange Mirror, earn 10 Fear Essence from Whack-a-Pumpkin, activate the Lucky Wheel, eliminate 7 bug swarms and 8 pumpkins, give Oogie Boogie 20 Fear Essence, and activate the wheel a second time.

Requirements and the November 4 start deadline

A handful of early-game unlocks must already be active before the quest can appear in your log. Most established saves meet them without any extra work.

After updating the game, check your in-game Mail for Scrooge’s letter about the event and his store. This limited-time quest leaves the game on November 4, 2026. That deadline applies to accepting it, not completing it. Begin before the date and the quest remains in your log, so you can finish all its follow-up missions whenever you choose.

The six quests unlock on a weekly schedule, and each can be finished after its release week rather than all at once.

Reach Oogie Boogie through the Strange Mirror

Head to Scrooge McDuck’s Store wherever you have placed it and talk to Scrooge inside. He explains that an old mirror began glowing green while he was preparing to display it.

Inspect the mirror. It bears the phrase “eigoo eigoob,” which spells Oogie Boogie’s name backward. Read the inscription aloud; the mirror shatters into green pieces, exposing a portal.

Enter the shattered Strange Mirror. Saying Oogie Boogie’s name during the resulting cutscene releases him from the mirror world and begins the remaining event.

In the mirror realm, go down the staircase to the left. Oogie Boogie waits beside the large Lucky Wheel and welcomes you with the Barrel Mask, Lock Mask, and Shock Mask.

Repair the Lucky Wheel with 10 Fear Essence

Try to turn the crank on the Lucky Wheel. It has no power and cannot move until you feed it Fear Essence. Talk to Oogie Boogie again for your next instructions.

Go downstairs with Oogie Boogie to the fenced arena in the middle of the lower level. There, he introduces the Whack-a-Pumpkin mini-game.

With the Royal Pickaxe equipped, strike the huge stack of dice to launch a round. You can hit the dice whenever you want to start the game or begin it again.

When a pumpkin emerges, pursue it and break it with the pickaxe before it retreats underground. Gather the purple Fear Essence it drops. The goal is 10 Fear Essence; since a few pumpkins give you nothing, you should plan on completing at least one additional round.

Go back upstairs, give Oogie Boogie the Fear Essence, and crank the wheel after it has been restored. The result is the Halloween Curse, which scatters bugs and pumpkins throughout the Valley. Talk to Oogie Boogie next for the cleanup assignments.

Clear the bug swarms and pumpkins in the Valley

Step back through the green portal into Scrooge’s Store. Seven swarms of Oogie Boogie Bugs and eight Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins are now scattered around the village, and both totals must be met.

Removing the Oogie Boogie Bugs

No tool is needed for the indoor bugs. Enter Mickey’s House and walk over its three moving bug clusters to clear them, then do the same with the four clusters inside Goofy’s House. A cluster may drop purple Fear Essence when it disappears, so pick it up.

Smashing the Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins

Outdoors, the eight pumpkins are on paths and open ground: four are in the Plaza and four are in Peaceful Meadow. Use the Royal Pickaxe to break each one and gather the random Fear Essence amount it produces. Bugs and pumpkins together must provide 20 Fear Essence.

If the pumpkin total remains at six or seven, switch to furniture placement mode and move the camera overhead. That view makes pumpkins obscured by buildings or foliage much easier to find.

Deliver 20 Fear Essence and claim the chest

With the bug and pumpkin totals complete and 20 Fear Essence in your inventory, return to Scrooge’s Store and use the Strange Mirror a second time.

Hand Oogie Boogie the 20 Fear Essence, allowing the Lucky Wheel to operate for a second spin.

Turn the Lucky Wheel’s crank by interacting with it. The prize for this spin is a Lucky Wheel Chest.

Open the chest and then unpack the reward in your inventory to complete the quest.

How to confirm the quest is complete

Unpack the Lucky Wheel reward to trigger the “A Halloween Invasion Complete” banner, which appears with Oogie Boogie beside it, and clear the quest from your active log. The chest puts the Oogie Boogie’s Lair Skeletons furniture item into your inventory. The quest also grants the Barrel Mask, Lock Mask, and Shock Mask, so check your wardrobe for all three.

Finishing this opening stage does not recruit Oogie Boogie right away. The next quest becomes available on its scheduled date rather than unlocking immediately, and only the sixth quest makes him a permanent resident. While you wait, the Haunting Elegance Star Path runs alongside the event with its own weekly duties, which is the most direct way to keep earning Halloween rewards between Oogie Boogie’s missions.
