Aquatic objectives in Disney Dreamlight Valley almost always come down to two actions. You either scoop a Vial of Water from a glowing spot in a body of water, or you reel in a specific fish. Both are quick once you know where to stand and what to look for.

Where to find every Vial of Water
Each water vial is named after the place you collect it. Once you understand that pattern, the rest is simple. Go to the location in the name, find the sparkling section of water, and interact with it. You do not need to craft an empty vial or container first.
| Vial | Where to collect it |
|---|---|
| Ocean Water | Dazzle Beach |
| Falling Water | By the waterfall in the Glade of Trust |
| Swamp Water | The river in the Glade of Trust |
| Freezing Water | Frosted Heights |
The key is reading the hint. If a quest asks for "Ocean" water, head to the ocean at Dazzle Beach. The same logic covers falling, swamp, and freezing water.
How to collect a Vial of Water
Step 1: Travel to the body of water named in your objective. For Ocean Water, that means walking the shoreline at Dazzle Beach.
Step 2: Look for a golden, sparkling patch in or along the water. This marker stands out clearly against the normal surface.
Step 3: Walk up to the patch and interact with it. The vial is added to your inventory right away, with no crafting step in between.

Using the Vial of Ocean Water in Elsa's quest
The Vial of Ocean Water is tied to Elsa's Breaking the Ice quest. You collect it at Dazzle Beach, then use it to make the Warmth of Summer Potion. Gather the cooking ingredients below to complete the potion.
| Ingredient | Location |
|---|---|
| x5 Sunflowers | Dazzle Beach |
| x5 Lemons | Forest of Valor / Glade of Trust |
| x2 Sugarcane | Dazzle Beach (Goofy's Stall) |
| x3 Garlic | Forest of Valor |
Once the potion is finished, Elsa upgrades your Pickaxe so it can break the small ice blocks found in Frosted Heights.
How fishing works for aquatic objectives
Many water-based tasks ask you to catch a particular fish. Equip your fishing rod, face a pond, river, or the ocean, and hold the cast button. When the bobber dips under the surface, a shrinking white ring appears. Press the button again while that ring sits inside the green circle in the middle.
You get the rod early from Goofy's Fishing Expedition quest. Catch anything, show it to Goofy, and the rod is yours. Unlike the other Royal Tools, the fishing rod cannot be upgraded.
Ripple spots in the water guarantee a catch, and they are the only way to land rare fish. The color tells you how hard the timing will be.
| Ripple color | Difficulty |
|---|---|
| White | Easiest, two rhythm levels |
| Blue | Medium, three rhythm levels, last one faster |
| Gold (red on some screens) | Hardest, four rhythm levels, last one much faster |
If you miss the timing on a rare ripple, it does not disappear. You can keep trying until you land the fish.

Where to find each fish
If an objective names a specific fish, this reference shows where it lives and which ripple color to target. A companion with the Fishing ability can occasionally double your yield, and a higher friendship level makes that more likely.
| Fish | Location | Ripple |
|---|---|---|
| Seaweed | Anywhere | None |
| Anglerfish | Forgotten Lands | Gold |
| Bass | Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights | White |
| Bream | Peaceful Meadow | Blue |
| Carp | Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau | Blue |
| Catfish | Peaceful Meadow | Gold |
| Cod | Dazzle Beach, Glade of Trust, Forgotten Lands | White/None |
| Crab | Frosted Heights | Blue |
| Fugu | Dazzle Beach (raining) | Gold |
| Herring | Dazzle Beach, Glade of Trust | White |
| Kingfish | Dazzle Beach (night) | Gold |
| Lancetfish | Forgotten Lands | Blue |
| Lobster | Glade of Trust | Gold |
| Perch | Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau | Blue |
| Pike | Forest of Valor | Gold |
| Rainbow Trout | Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor | White |
| Salmon | Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights | White |
| Shrimp | Dazzle Beach | Blue |
| Sole | Forgotten Lands | White |
| Squid | Glade of Trust, Forgotten Lands | Blue |
| Swordfish | Dazzle Beach | Gold |
| Tilapia | Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights | Blue |
| Tuna | Glade of Trust, Forgotten Lands | White |
| Walleye | Sunlit Plateau | Gold |
| White Sturgeon | Frosted Heights | Gold |
One catch to watch for in the Sunlit Plateau. If the water there is purple, you cannot fish until you finish Scar's Nature & Nurture quest and return the Orb of Nurturing to its pillar.
With the right body of water for each vial and the correct fishing spot for each fish, every water-related objective comes down to standing in the right place and acting on the cue. Match the hint to the location, watch for the sparkle or ripple, and the items land in your inventory with the objective ticking over right after.
