Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Complete The Big Red Monster (Chapter 5)

Eeyore is still gloomy after his tail turns up in the previous chapter, and the flowers across Gloommeadow stay dried out because the river was blocked back in Chapter 4. That leads into The Big Red Monster, a Honeyglow Woods story quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley that has you gear up like a hero, clear a wall of fog, and finally track down whatever has been lurking in the Everoak Tree.

Quick answer: Craft a Storybook Sword and Heroic Helmet, pick up the Fog Dust at the fog wall, cook a Fog-Busting Potion, use it with your watering can to pierce the fog in the bottom-right corner of Gloommeadow, clear the branches off the monster, then return to Eeyore wearing the big red pajamas to finish the quest.

Materials for the Storybook Sword and Heroic Helmet

Talking to Eeyore about the big red monster kicks off the plan to build proper hero gear. You need two items, and every ingredient is gathered inside Drowsybloom Acre and Gloommeadow.

Once you have everything, head to any crafting station in either biome and make both pieces. Equip the sword and helmet before you return to Eeyore.

Find the Fog Dust at the fog wall

Walk with Eeyore toward the wall of fog. He admits he is too scared to keep going, so you offer to head in alone.

Interact with the sparkles near the fog wall to pick up a piece of Fog Dust. Take it back to Eeyore and talk about it, which sets up the idea of brewing a Fog-Busting Potion.

Cook the Fog-Busting Potion

The potion needs four ingredients, each found a different way across the two Honeyglow Woods biomes.

The Plush Fish is the tricky one. It only appears in orange ripples. If none are visible, keep fishing the blue and white ripples until an orange one spawns nearby, then fish it for the Plush Fish. With all four ingredients ready, go to any cooking station and make the Fog-Busting Potion.

Pierce the fog and reach the monster

Return to Eeyore and speak with him and Pooh Bear, then use the Fog-Busting Potion from your inventory. This upgrades your watering can so it can cut through the fog blocking the small area in the bottom-right corner of Gloommeadow.

Water the fogged-over spot to open the path, then head inside. You will spot the big red monster stuck in a tree and meet Pooh Bear near it.

Clear the branches pinning the monster to the ground with your shovel. Underneath is a blue clothing pouch. Open it to find a set of big red pajamas that you can wear.

Tip: Put on the big red pajamas before you walk back. Eeyore needs to see you wearing them for the final conversation to trigger.

How to confirm the quest is complete

Return to Eeyore while wearing the big red pajamas and talk to him. Finishing that conversation closes out Chapter 5: The Big Red Monster and rolls straight into Chapter 6: A Place for Eeyore. If nothing happens, check that both the sword and helmet were equipped earlier and that you are still wearing the pajamas, since the reveal depends on you showing up in them.
