The Haunted Well is a Trick or Treat reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and claiming it means cracking a short candy math riddle first. A red chest in the Plaza hands you a Memory Shard with three equations, and solving them tells you exactly how many candies to drop into a well hidden in the Forest of Valor.
Quick answer: To claim the Haunted Well furniture item, feed the Haunted Well in the Forest of Valor 15 pieces of Green Candy, 10 pieces of Red Candy, then 5 pieces of Purple Candy, in that sequence.

Before you start: event window and requirements
The puzzle runs during the Trick or Treat event, which is live from October 14 to 31. You also need the Forest of Valor biome unlocked, since that is where the well itself appears. Without the biome open, the well and its interaction will not show up.
This is separate from the Haunted Floating Festival and its puzzle island. The Haunted Well is solved in your normal Valley, so there is no portal to take and no festival task required first.

Add to Google Preferences →Open the red chest in the Plaza
Travel to the Plaza biome and search for a red reward chest. It may appear anywhere in the biome, so inspect the corners if you don’t spot it right away. Open it to make a pink Memory Shard appear nearby.
Collect the shard, then examine the memory image: it depicts three equations made with green, red, and purple sweets. If you opened the chest and left the shard behind, return to its drop spot and scan the ground for the glowing memory.

The candy equations, solved
The memory is a visual riddle. Each candy colour stands for a number, and the three equations let you work them out one at a time.
Green + Green + Green = 45
Green + Red + Red = 35
Green - Purple = Red
From the first line, 45 divided by 3 gives each Green Candy a value of 15. Plug that into the second line: subtract 15 from 35 to get 20, then divide by 2, so each Red Candy is worth 10. The last line becomes 15 minus Purple equals 10, which makes Purple Candy worth 5.
| Candy | Value | Amount to deposit |
|---|---|---|
| Green Candy | 15 | 15 |
| Red Candy | 10 | 10 |
| Purple Candy | 5 | 5 |
The solution is the same for every player, so these quantities do not change between save files or with the daily candy rotation.

Find the well in the Forest of Valor and deposit the candy
Travel to the Forest of Valor and look for the Haunted Well. Its spawn point is different for each player, so search the biome carefully. You are looking for a light grey well decorated with glowing candles, pumpkins, and spiderwebs, not the Plaza’s normal Wishing Well.
Where to collect Green, Red, and Purple Candy
Event candy is available from lit jack-o’-lanterns at six participating villager homes and from candy bowls in the Plaza. You can use each lit pumpkin once daily, and it gives five candies in every colour. Visiting three homes provides fifteen of each colour, enough to solve the entire puzzle with candy left over.
- Mickey Mouse
- WALL-E
- Daisy Duck
- Stitch
- Mike Wazowski
- Jack Skellington
The Plaza also has bowls containing red, green, and purple candy. Take two pieces from each; six bowls are available every 24 hours until the event ends. Check the item names as you collect them: you need Green Candy, Red Candy, and Purple Candy, rather than a cooked Candy recipe.

How to confirm it worked
When the well accepts the correct sweets, the puzzle well vanishes and the Haunted Well furniture item is added to your collection. Ravens circle the decoration in a repeating animation, and you can place it anywhere in the Valley using Furniture Mode. Completing the puzzle grants one; after that, Scrooge McDuck’s shop sells additional Haunted Wells for Star Coins.
If you earned the well during an earlier Halloween season, check your furniture collection before expecting a fresh copy, since the returning activity does not hand out a second one.
