Several Norgan quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen stall on an objective that simply says to wait. Dwayne’s and Polyeidus’s waiting objectives advance after time passes and you return to the right place on foot. Choosing “Wait for nightfall” in Ilda’s quest makes the game pass the time. No timer or day count ever shows on screen for any of them.
Quick answer: Let time pass, then walk back to the right place on foot. Standing next to the character and spamming the talk key during the wait only gives filler lines.
How time and location both have to change
When the quest is ready, the character often walks up to you on their own. Let that conversation start rather than trying to force it.

There is no need to wander the snowfield in circles. You have three reliable ways to burn through the day or night.
- Rest at the Norgandian Inn through Dwayne’s menu. Choose “Rest” for 500 G, then pick “Rest till Morning,” “Rest till Nightfall,” or “Cancel.”
- Sit on the wooden bench in the Norgandian Settlement and choose “Doze Off.” Keep dozing until it has gone dark and become day again.
- Simply get on with another quest. Time can pass while you play another quest.

When the Culling Gets Tough (Dwayne)
This quest from Dwayne stalls twice, and each hold clears differently. The first waiting line, “Wait for Dwayne to complete his preparations,” shows up after your first outing with him, when the banner reads that you witnessed Dwayne quail before the monster.
To move it, come back into the Norgandian Settlement later. Dwayne walks up to you outside the inn by himself and opens with “Hoy! Could you spare a bit of time?” He explains he has doubled his training and reckons he can defeat a monster now, with you there to back him up. Pick “Very well.” to get the objective “Accompany Dwayne and cull another monster.”

The second pause, “Pay Dwayne a visit,” appears after the second outing, once the banner reports that Dwayne has quailed before the monster again. It’s easy to try the wrong approach here: speaking with Dwayne inside the Norgandian Inn changes nothing. He sticks to his standard dialogue and brings up the inn menu.
Let some time pass before going to the bonfire at the village center. Dorin speaks first, announcing that Ilsa has disappeared. Dwayne comes up to you by a hut and asks, “Can I bend your ear a moment?” He thinks he knows where his sister went. He saw her sneak away while Dorin was fighting serpents. With his father wounded and the village needing protection, Dwayne cannot go after her himself, so he asks you to help. Choose “I will help you.” to start “Follow Dwayne.”

A Direwolf Delicacy (Ilsa)
Right after you hand over the treat, this quest shows “Wait to hear if the hounds enjoyed their treat.” Pass some time, and by the next afternoon the line becomes “Ask Ilsa if the hounds enjoyed their treat.” Walk up to her fire basket and she starts talking on her own with “Hoy! Thanks for finding us that bone!” The quest completes during that conversation.

A Hound and His Bone (Ilsa)
There can be a gap between Ilsa’s first conversation, where you choose “Have Freki search for her pup.” or “I have need of Freki.”, and the quest itself appearing. Sometimes nothing is added to the quest list after that choice. If so, walk away and come back to her fire basket a little later the same day, and the objective “Gather clues as to Skoll’s whereabouts.” turns up. On other runs the whole thing plays out as one conversation with a short fade.
The quest is not offered on the afternoon Ilsa has just been rescued, when she is indoors. It comes on a later morning.
Flight in the Night (Ilda)
Ilda’s quest gives you a choice between “Wait for nightfall.” and “Decline.” There is nothing to wait out yourself here. She explains that she plans to slip away so her father will not notice until morning, and asks for your help reaching a scholar. Picking “Wait for nightfall.” makes the game pass the time for you.

When the scene fades back in, it is nighttime and you are outside the village with Ilda. Carrying a lantern, she confirms you slipped away unseen and says you need to reach the scholar before dawn. Dawn can arrive while the errands are underway; the quest stays active and its objective does not change.

Village Defense (Dorin)
This quest holds on “Speak with Dorin when you are prepared.” Dorin makes the offer in daylight; at night the choice does not appear. He may run through other conversations first, so keep holding the talk key until he asks whether you are prepared to safeguard the village tonight while he tends his old man’s wounds.

Choose “I am ready to defend the village.” and the game moves itself to evening. The objective then becomes “Meet with Dwayne and defend the village together.”

Sealed History (Polyeidus)
Polyeidus asks for at least a day, and the objective reads “Wait for Polyeidus to conduct his research.” Let a day pass, for example by using “Doze Off” on the settlement bench until the next day, then return to the Sealed Study. The objective updates to “Ask Polyeidus about the results of his research.”
The routine for any “wait” objective

Mistakes that keep these quests stuck
- Trying to find Dwayne indoors for “Pay Dwayne a visit.” won’t work; the scene takes place at the bonfire.
- Asking Dorin for Village Defense at night, when he has no such choice to offer.
- Expecting a countdown. None of these waits display one, so judge progress by returning to the right spot rather than watching a clock.
You will know a wait has cleared the moment the objective text rewrites itself, usually from “Wait for…” to “Ask…” or “Speak with…”, or when the character intercepts you with a fresh line. Once that happens, the quest carries on as normal, and you can move on to the next step in Norgan’s chain of errands.
