Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Brings the Norgan Region and New Bosses on October 9

Capcom's endgame expansion adds a frozen region, an undead Gregory, Pathfinder trials, and fresh cosmetics across five platforms.

Capcom’s endgame expansion adds a frozen region, an undead Gregory, Pathfinder trials, and fresh cosmetics across five platforms.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the major expansion that finally hands the game a proper endgame. It centers on Norgan, a frost-covered region that never appeared in the base game, and it follows the same pattern Capcom used for the original Dragon’s Dogma, where the real late-game content arrived through a Dark Arisen release. The headline draw is a new map to explore, a roster of tougher monsters and bosses, and a dedicated challenge mode for high-level Arisen.

Quick answer: Dark Arisen launches October 9, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch 2, adding the Norgan region, new bosses including an undead Gregory, the Pathfinder trials challenge dungeons, and new character creation options.

Dark Arisen release date and platforms

The expansion is set for October 9, 2026. Alongside the existing PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions, the release also brings Dragon’s Dogma 2 to Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time. Pre-orders on every platform include the Northern Attire fashion set, a cosmetic outfit fitting the snowy setting.

The Norgan region

Norgan is the centerpiece of the expansion. Long ago it was a prosperous territory under the Kingdom of Vermund, but it was abandoned for reasons that remain unexplained in the story. What remains is a harsh, frozen, isolated land filled with hostile wildlife and dangerous terrain. Expect ice giants and snowbound landscapes that contrast sharply with the regions already in the game.

New monsters and bosses, including an undead Gregory

Norgan houses some of the deadliest creatures on the isle. The lineup mixes new variants of familiar enemies with entirely new monsters, including additional Dragons and Drakes. Footage has shown an ice dragon and an undead dragon among the frozen threats, with ghouls and zombies swarming the Arisen during one of the undead dragon sequences.

One of the most notable returns is Gregory, who comes back in an undead form for this expansion. The frozen wilds also feature reskinned and tougher takes on existing foes, which is in keeping with how Norgan layers new dangers onto the base game’s bestiary.

Pathfinder trials and new challenge dungeons

The expansion’s core endgame is a set of challenge dungeons called the Pathfinder trials. These trials string together fights against increasingly difficult monsters, with each tier raising the stakes. Clearing different tiers rewards new legendary loot, giving high-level players a reason to keep pushing deeper. In total, 12 new dungeon challenges are spread across the existing map.

New cosmetics for the Arisen and Pawns

Dark Arisen expands character creation with new options for both the Arisen and your Pawn, including fresh tattoo and hairstyle choices. Importantly, these character creator additions are not locked behind the expansion. They roll into the base game as well, so you can use them even if you do not buy Dark Arisen.

Free updates leading up to the expansion

Capcom is smoothing out long-standing friction before the expansion arrives. A free title update released on June 10 overhauled map travel by adding the reusable Eternal Ferrystone and placing new permanent Portcrystals in locations such as Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and the Volcanic Island Camp. You receive the Eternal Ferrystone automatically after speaking with Brant during the “Seat of the Sovran” quest, and players who already finished that quest find it deposited straight into their inventory.

That same update reduced sprint stamina drain outside of combat, expanded Oxcart functionality, and cut the Normal Mode Ferrystone price from 10,000 gold to 5,000 gold. It also introduced the Guardian specialization for Pawns, which lets them prevent Oxcart raids and repel or weaken enemies that attack your camp before you join the fight. Full details are listed in Capcom’s title update notes.

A second major patch is planned for August, focused on framerate and performance stabilization across all platforms, with additional save slots that address a community request present since launch. Capcom is also applying a permanent discount to the base game starting June 24.

The community reaction to the reveal has been intense, with players welcoming the long-awaited endgame and the return to the world they spent dozens of hours in.

For now, the confirmed details point to a frozen new region, harder fights, a fresh challenge mode, and quality-of-life groundwork laid through the free updates. With the expansion locked in for October 9, 2026, the run-up gives existing players time to clean up their campaigns and prepare a high-level Arisen for what Norgan throws at them.
