The Silver Grooved set is the armor worn by the Idus Knight, one of the two starting classes added in Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. If you are playing an existing character and don’t want to reroll, every piece of it — plus the matching Silver Grooved Shield — is sold by a single Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes. There is no boss, no invasion, and no level requirement attached to it. You only need runes.

Quick answer: Fast travel to the Bellum Church Site of Grace in northern Liurnia of the Lakes, walk down the slope toward the cliffside until you find the Nomadic Merchant sitting at a campfire beside his mule, and buy all five Silver Grooved items for 7,000 runes total.

What you need before the merchant stocks it

The set only exists if the Tarnished content is installed. On Nintendo Switch 2 that means Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition itself. On PC, PS5, and Xbox it means owning the separate Tarnished Pack DLC and running the game on version 1.17 or later. Without that, the merchant’s inventory will look exactly as it always has.

Beyond that, there are no gates. Any class, any level, and any point in a playthrough works, as long as you can reach northern Liurnia. Armor in Elden Ring cannot be upgraded, so nothing else is needed after the purchase.

Silver Grooved Armor and Shield location: how to reach the merchant

Open the map and look at northern Liurnia of the Lakes, in the ravine area that leads up toward the Ruin-Strewn Precipice and west of the Grand Lift of Dectus. Bellum Church is the target. If you have never been there, the overland route runs north from Liurnia’s lake shore, past the Academy, and up the eastern side of the region.

Rest at the Bellum Church Site of Grace, inside the ruined chapel. This is your anchor point, so make sure it is activated before you go hunting for the campfire — it saves a long ride if you die on the cliffs.

Leave the church ruins and follow the slope downhill toward the cliff edge, a short ride north of the building. Call Torrent if you want, but the distance is small enough to walk.
Look for the campfire with a mule tied up next to it. The Nomadic Merchant is sitting there and will greet you before you get close. Talk to him and choose Purchase.

Buy the five Silver Grooved entries from his stock. Each one is a permanent purchase, so you cannot lose them by dropping or selling later, and the merchant does not run out.

Note: the same merchant also stocks the Blue Crest Heater Shield for 1,500 runes, along with the usual consumables like Rune Arc and Immunizing White Cured Meat. None of those are part of the set, so skip them if runes are tight.

Silver Grooved Set stats and weight

This is a light-to-medium armor set built around the speed-focused look of the land of Idus. The four armor pieces come to 33 poise and 16.9 weight in total, which keeps most builds comfortably inside Medium Load without much Endurance investment.

PiecePhysicalPoiseWeight
Silver Grooved Helm3.763.0
Silver Grooved Armor10.2167.1
Silver Grooved Gauntlets3.132.4
Silver Grooved Greaves6.484.4

The chest piece carries the bulk of the protection, at 23 Immunity, 37 Robustness, 14 Focus, and 14 Vitality. Mixing the chest and greaves with lighter head and hand slots is a reasonable option if you are trying to shave weight.

Getting the set instantly with the Idus Knight class

The other route is starting a fresh character as the Idus Knight, which begins the game already wearing all four Silver Grooved pieces and holding the Silver Grooved Shield. That costs zero runes and works from character creation, so it is the faster path if you were going to start a new run anyway.

The Idus Knight starts at level 7 with 10 Vigor, 12 Mind, 11 Endurance, 13 Strength, 15 Dexterity, 8 Intelligence, 11 Faith, and 6 Arcane. For an existing character, the merchant is still the only way to get the gear — the class start does not retroactively unlock anything.

Confirming the purchase worked

After buying, open the Equipment menu. The shield appears in your armaments list as Silver Grooved Shield, and the four armor entries show up under their matching slots as Silver Grooved Helm, Silver Grooved Armor, Silver Grooved Gauntlets, and Silver Grooved Greaves. If any of those are missing from the merchant’s shop screen entirely, the Tarnished content is not active on your install and you need to check the DLC ownership and game version before returning.

Because the merchant restocks nothing and expires under no conditions, there is no missable window here. You can come back at any point in a run, including after burning the Erdtree, and the Silver Grooved items will still be sitting in his inventory.
