Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Active Mycelium

Mine the glowing blue Shroud patches near Braelyn Bridge, then spend the haul on flasks, armor, arrows, and dyes.

Mine the glowing blue Shroud patches near Braelyn Bridge, then spend the haul on flasks, armor, arrows, and dyes.

In Enshrouded, Active Mycelium is a level 5 Common crafting material found exclusively in the Shroud. It cannot be purchased or crafted. Mine luminous blue fungal growths with a pickaxe, completing the job before your Shroud timer expires. This material is used in many Enshrouded 1.0 recipes, from your first chest armor to Flame level 9 gear, potions, arrows, and dyes.

Quick answer: Drop into the Springlands Shroud just south of Braelyn Bridge, north of Cinder Vault. Hit the glowing blue patches on the ground and rocks with any pickaxe. Each hit adds Active Mycelium to your inventory.

Active Mycelium farm route at Braelyn Bridge

The first Shroud pocket you’ll find in the Springlands is also the most convenient place to farm. It sits in the chasm between Cinder Vault, where you spawn, and Braelyn Bridge, and it’s packed with blue growths. You don’t need high-end gear. A Scrappy Pickaxe mines the patches just as well as a Steel Pickaxe, and the nodes can be farmed at any time of day.

Open your world map and find Cinder Vault and Braelyn Bridge in the starting area. Your target is the fog-filled Shroud zone below and around the bridge, just north of Cinder Vault.
Head northwest from your starting base toward the bridge ruins, then drop off the cliff edge near the bridge supports into the Shroud. Your Shroud timer appears at the top of the screen as soon as you enter the fog.
Look for bright blue, glowing growths on the ground and on rock faces. These are the Active Mycelium deposits, and they stand out clearly against the dark fog.
Equip a pickaxe and hit the blue patches repeatedly. Every strike drops Active Mycelium straight into your inventory, often in chunks of anywhere from +3 to +10 per hit, along with some Rubble and regular Mycelium.
Move deeper northwest along the torchlit ruins to the large rock wall covered in shelf mushrooms. Mine the whole pillar. The white sections drop regular Mycelium, while the glowing blue sections drop Active Mycelium.
Follow the dirt road southwest out of the fog before your timer hits zero. Once you’re back in clear air, the timer resets and you can loop back in for another pass.

You’ll know it’s working by watching the pickup feed on the side of the screen. Each hit shows an “Active Mycelium +X” line, and your backpack shows the running total. It caps at 250 per stack.

Regular Mycelium and Active Mycelium are separate materials, and both are mined in and around the Shroud. If the pickup line just says “Mycelium,” you hit a white section rather than a blue one.

Shroud timer and survival flasks

Every Active Mycelium run happens on a clock. The Shroud timer sits at the top of your screen, and when it reaches zero, your character dies. Plan a route that lets you hit a cluster of nodes and walk back out with time to spare. Don’t wander deep into the fog and then start mining.

Enshrouded: the player moves through the Shroud with the 4:54 timer running, while the Rested effect shows Sheltered and ‘Reach The Plains’ is the tracked quest.

To stay in longer, bring a Shroud Survival Flask or a Greater Shroud Survival Flask. Both temporarily extend how long you can remain in the Shroud. The basic Shroud Survival Flask itself costs 20 Active Mycelium, so your first trip pays for the flasks that make later trips longer.

Where else Active Mycelium spawns

The blue patches aren’t limited to the starting area. They grow inside Shroud zones in every region of Embervale, so you’ll keep running into them as you progress:

One dense later-game cluster sits in the Albaneve Summits. From the Albapracht Watchtower, head northwest into the Shroud and enter the blue-tinted cave. Keep to the right along the winding tunnel until you reach a large glowing blue deposit in the floor. Inside the Shroud you’ll also see glowing blue bulb plants hanging on rock walls. These can be chopped with an axe for Active Mycelium too.

A Distant Star and Convergence each take five minutes to craft. All told, a full set of the level 45 armor plus a stack of survival flasks will eat through 250 Active Mycelium quickly. Plan on several timed loops through the Braelyn Bridge Shroud rather than one long run.
