Archaic Infusion is a level 45 crafting material in Enshrouded’s 1.0 update. Without it you can’t build the Cinder’s Cradle chest pieces, several Eternal spells and arrows, or the Placeable Gem Forge. There are two ways to get it. You can loot it from scrap in the volcanic biome, or you can craft it once the Ancient Researcher gives you the Infusion Altar. Scavenging works right away. Crafting takes longer to set up, but it is the route you can repeat.
Quick answer: Search scrap piles and broken metal debris in the volcanic ruins east and northeast of Ancient Gate. Or craft five at a time at the Infusion Altar from Magma Gel, Sparkling Dust, Archaic Essence VII, an Archaic Core and Archaic Shards.

How to get Archaic Infusion from volcanic scrap piles
This is the fastest way to get your first few, and it needs no crafting station. Archaic Infusion can drop directly from junk in the volcanic biome. Level 45 Diamonds and Metal Sheets come out of the same piles, so a single sweep also gets you started on Sparkling Dust.

You may also find Archaic Infusion occasionally inside Locked Chests, Sarcophagi, Silver Chests, Wooden Chests, or Golden Chests. Its drop rate is low, so treat chest finds as a bonus rather than a farming method.
How to craft Archaic Infusion at the Infusion Altar
Crafting gives you a steady supply. It depends on the Ancient Researcher, Loraine Crim, who teaches the Infusion Altar recipe. You reach her by pushing the main quest “Activating the Gate to the Stars” forward and rescuing her. Like most workstations, the altar has to be built under a roof.

Archaic Infusion recipe ingredients and where to find them
One batch of five uses the materials below. Almost all of them come from the volcanic region.
| Ingredient | Per batch | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Cinder’s Cradle | |
| 4 | Mill | |
| 6 | Cinder’s Cradle Shroud Lairs | |
| 1 | Fallen constructs | |
| 5 | Volcanic mechanical enemies, vases |
Magma Gel is a level 45 material gathered in Cinder’s Cradle. It stacks to 250.
Sparkling Dust is ground at the Mill. One craft yields one unit and takes 180 seconds. The recipe unlocks when you pick up a Diamond, and it grinds Diamond together with Moonstone, Celestium Ore and Mother-Of-Pearl. The Diamonds you collect from volcanic scrap feed straight into it.
Archaic Essence VII is the level 45 version, dropped by Shroud Lairs in Cinder’s Cradle. Look on the floating islands north and northeast of Ancient Gate; the ground islands directly below are not the right location. Lower Archaic Essence tiers cannot fill this slot.

Archaic Core comes out of the bodies of destroyed constructs. Archaic Shards drop from the scorpion-like mechanical enemies and larger automatons in the volcanic biome, and from the ceramic vases you can break there. You’ll usually have Shards to spare long before Cores run out, so Cores are the ingredient to keep an eye on.
How to confirm Archaic Infusion worked: Unlocked recipes
The first Archaic Infusion you pick up triggers a “RECIPE UNLOCKED!” banner reading “Eternal Pillar of Flames I (+2 more) at Alchemist.” The other two are Eternal Arc Lightning II and Eternal Blizzard II. All three are Legendary level 45 Mage spells. If you see that banner, the material is in your inventory and the spells are now listed at the Alchemist.
| Spell | Damage | Mana cost | Infusion used |
|---|---|---|---|
| 38 Fire | 186 | 3 | |
| 34 Lightning | 53 | 3 | |
| 23 Ice | 287 | 3 | |
| 1500 shield | 300 | 2 |
Eternal Protective Barrier is a Rare spell. Its recipe unlocks when you pick up Sparkling Dust, not Archaic Infusion, but it still needs two Infusions to craft. Eternal spells don’t use up Spell Charges. They run on Mana instead, which is why the endgame costs are this steep. As a reference point, the regular Pillar Of Flames I is a level 12 Common spell that deals 14 Fire damage for 54 Mana and uses a charge with every cast.
Cinder’s Cradle chest armor that needs Archaic Infusion
Archaic Infusion goes into each Cinder’s Cradle chest piece. Every piece below is item level 45 and has the same 4 Frost Resistance and 180 seconds of Wet Duration Reduction. The Rare chests unlock at Flame level 9. The Legendary Vorgoth’s piece is learned when you pick up Vorgoth’s Bound Essence.
| Chest | Class · Station | Magic / Physical armor | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranger · Ancient Researcher | 98 / 98 | Legendary | |
| Ranger · Hunter | 168 / 168 | Rare | |
| Ranger · Hunter | 98 / 98 | Rare | |
| Warrior · Blacksmith | 112 / 223 | Rare | |
| Warrior · Blacksmith | 140 / 251 | Rare |
The Mage chests, Flame Arcanist Chest and Lifelock Chest, also take Archaic Infusion and are crafted at the Alchemist. Vorgoth’s Soulbound Chest belongs to Vorgoth’s Soulbound Set. It adds 10 percent Bow Damage and 21 Stamina Regeneration on top of its 210 Health and 84 Stamina.
Beyond armor and spells, Archaic Infusion is used in the Eternal Ember Arrow III and Eternal Voltaic Arrow III at the Hunter, which take two each. It also goes into the Placeable Gem Forge from the Ancient Researcher and the Ancients Night Door from the Carpenter. Between all of those and a full set of chests, demand climbs quickly. That is why most players move from scavenging to the altar once the Ancient Researcher is free.
